  1. I wouldn’t discount the M72s or Carl Gustafs. Neither are useful against main battle tanks but Russia has plenty of other vehicles that need attention. The Carl Gustafs are also multiple use. One guy carriers a single use javelin (50 lbs), the other with a Carl Gustaf (30 lbs) with a dozen rounds. They have a longer range than an AT4. The Carl Gustaf gas a fast reload rate.

    The M72s are useful in urban combat. They are short range but can be fired from inside buildings. They will be sent to Kiev. I doubt they would be used outside of city defense other than maybe blowing up abandoned Russian vehicles.

    Javelins, Saab NLAW, and Ukrainian made Stugna Ps (which have a longer range than the first two, if you see a recording of a video screen tabk kill, it’s a stugna P) are abundant and extremely effective against main battle tanks. I don’t think Canada has any NLAQs to spare, if we even have any.

  3. The continuation of the on purpose destruction of our Canadian Armed Forces continues unabated…. albeit somewhat slowly…It’s been ongoing since I was in back in the Early ’70’s.

    Dumping old expired or useless gear is to me, just another way to debase our guys in uniform. All too typical of FRENCH Based Liberal Cowardice towards ARMED FORCES in general…that which they (the Libs), have shown is their underlying & defining character trait.

      The Brownings are wonderful pistols. I have many different guns over 100 years old and they all work perfectly. They should just buy new Brownings. FN subs them out to India. If they actually sold the old ones they could mostly pay for new ones. In Canada pistols are for show. Some armies are issuing both pistols and rifles to troops in battle. When not in the field they lock away the rifle but keep the pistol.

        1. Some Sig models began to creep in, limited issue to certain specialties, no Glocks yet. WWII vintage Browning HiPowers made in Canada (John Inglis company) under license from FN are still in service. (The Wehrmact also had them, made by FN while Belgium was under German occupation.) The British also had the Inglis-made HiPowersfor decades but they replaced theirs with Glocks.

  4. Don’t forget about Operation Unifier. I listened to a long interview with Col Lake who ran that operation for a few years. That operation was about removing the Soviet stench from the Ukraine military. It wasn’t just training, it was teaching the Ukrainians how to train themselves. It was also training NATO interoperability. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. The NATO training has been ongoing, and NATO has been getting plenty of real time feedback on changes that the Ukraine forces were making. One example is cell phones. Russia was triangulating cell phones and using that data for mortar attacks.

    Ukraine went from a top heavy Soviet system burdened with insane corruption, low morale, and no ambition for improvement to a 21st century force that can communicate anywhere in the field, is highly effective, and has NATO interoperability. All in 8 years. Those aren’t my words.

  7. Update on my undeniable Russian invasion points. This is not meant to “show both sides” or anything like that. It is to put undeniable facts in front of Putin apologists.

    Feb 26 UNSC vote – 11 of 15 voted for action in Russia. China, India, and UAE abstained. Russia vetoed.

    March 2 UN vote – 141 members voted against Russia. Only 4 with Russia: Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, and Syria.

    March 16 the ICC agreed with Ukraine and 42 other countries that Russia was performing war crimes and needs to stop its invasion.

    Red Cross has publicly stated the Russian designated humanitarian routes were mined. Dozens of countries have placed harsh sanctions on Russia including many non-NATO countries. Boeing and Airbus have stopped doing business with Russia. Russian domestic carriers can no longer get parts for 75% of their airplane fleet.

    Sweden, Finland, Georgia and Ukraine have expressed interest in joining NATO. Turkey has closed the Bosphorus strait to warships, so Russia had to cancel 4 warship transits to the Black Sea. Kazhakstan has refused to send troops to help Russia and they recognize Donetsk and Crimea as Ukranian territory. Uzbekistan did the same but took it a step further and called for a halt to Russias invasion. Even China is sending aid to Ukraine

    Ex military from all over the world are joining Ukraine including some of the best special forces snipers the world has ever seen, and Free Syria Army “tank killers”. The Belarus armed forces leader Victor Gulevich resigned citing “a high degree of demoralization” among the his forces. Some defected to Ukraine in the defence of Kyiv.

    Russian equipment losses have been substantial including over 14,000 troops, 400+ tanks, almost 100 planes and over 100 helicopters. The anti javelin coping cages Russia has installed on top of their tanks do not work. So much military hardware is being abandoned by Russia that Ukraine is gaining hardware. Some serious stuff too like TOR, TOS1, and T90 tanks. Ukraine has been shipped 17,000 anti tank weapons, far more than Russia has tanks. Bayraktars are wrecking Russian convoys. The drones seem to be invisible to Russian radar. So much for having the best air defence in the world.

    Five Russian generals have been KIA. Ukraine is getting the best Intel in any conflict in the history of the world. Meanwhile Russian troops are using unencrypted and non-frequency hopping transmissions. Regular Ukrainians are jamming them. The FSB is unable to use the encrypted ERA comms system that was touted for its durability.

      The Ukraine is part of Russia’s domain. The West can accept that or ultimately wind up on the wrong end of Russia’s nuclear arsenal. Simple as that.

      There will be no regime change in Russia if Russians have any say about it. They are not going to let the House Girl Kamala appoint a puppet to sit in Moscow to oversee the sale of Siberia to China.

      They are ready for their leader to do what it takes to ensure that the globalists never pose a military threat to Russia again.

      Allan, I live within walking distance of Parliament. When the bomb is dropped on Ottawa I doubt I’ll feel a thing. I’m ready for Putin to wipe this miserable city off the map for good.

        1. Even in the bad old Cold War days, the only Canadian city targeted by the Soviets for the nuclear treatment was Edmonton. That’s how inconsequential Canada is.

            NORAD has a base there with a large underground facility.
            It is a prime target.
            Also targeted would be refineries, manufacturing facilities, financial institutions in Toronto.
            Alberta tar crude facilities.
            Saskatchewans oil and potash facilities.
            Niagara Falls for the Beck Hydro Generators.
            Quebec James Bay Generating structures.
            Windsor along with Detroit.
            Pretty much all of the Golden Horseshoe in Southern Ontario due to a large manufacturing concentration there.
            There are plenty more facilities that would be nuked including any Nuclear Generating Plants.
            Lots of target rich fields to lob MIRV missiles at.
            I know I would hammer the above and that includes Ottawa and all major airports.

          2. Don’t joke about Edmonton. I remember when the old Edmonton Telephone (yup, it was a city-owned utility back then) phone books had, on the inside of the front cover, instructions about what to do in case of nuclear attack.

            The city even had attack sirens. One was located near where I live now and another was on the University of Alberta campus, going off at random at inopportune times such as during exams. Both have long been dismantled.

          1. Actually, North Bay was targeted because that underground NORAD base referred to by John Bosley above was actually a nuclear missile base. There were 2 silos there housing Bomarc (Boeing Michigan Aeronautical Research Center) ground-to-air nuclear-tipped missiles designed to shoot down Russian bombers on their way over the pole to bomb the US. Note that the main idea of US anti-nuke defence was to shoot them down over Canada. There were two of these sites built, at North Bay and at LaMacaza, Quebec. Diefenbaker proposed the Bomarc as a replacement for the Avro Arrow, which he had just cancelled. The subsequent Pearson government added nuclear warheads to them in 1963, but all the nuclear weapons were uninstalled, decommissioned and returned to the US by 1972. The missiles were used as target drones. Last I saw, Canadore College in North Bay as using the two silos as part of their helicopter pilot training facility.

          So which is it CBC, they are useless and ineffective or they intend to take the European continent and have the means to do so?

            I don’t wish to see any city “burn” whether Moscow, Kiev even Damascus or Baghdad. That said they can deal with their own internal conflicts and keep our tax dollars out of it.

            Of course many could argue that the west is responsible for much of these conflicts, and they would be correct in much of it. If only provocation, like a George Floyd memorial and parade. But I’m not responsible, and I didn’t vote for the people who are responsible, nor do I support their billion dollar Progressive propaganda machines that are championing this foreign conflict as so many here do.

    Pretty sure if Montana military/ National guard drove across the border into Alberta people would be lined up on the highways like they were for the trucker convoy, with soup and sandwiches ready.

  14. It sounds like all the nations on the Ukraine side are cleaning out their military warehouses. Rather than having to secure and maintain that old, obsolescent equipment, they get some goodwill and publicity for getting rid of it without having to spend the money to safe it and demilitarize it. Remember Germany and their 2,000 Strela Anti-Aircraft Missiles? Oopsie, they turned out to non-functioning junk. Why were they still holding on to them?

    It costs serious money to destroy weapons with explosives and rocket propellants in them. This way? They only have to pay to ship the stuff to Poland and transship it to Ukraine.
