Brian Lilley: CBC has lost its lawsuit against the Conservative Party over the use of CBC material in ads during the 2019 federal election. Any reading of the law and jurisprudence would have told CBC this, their own lawyers warned them, but they persisted.

CBC quietly deletes interview…

Guest host Talia Schlanger read an excerpt from Philippe’s book in the interview, that reads: “When this race war hits its crescendo, I’ll gather you all into a beautifully decorated room under the pretense of unity. I’ll give a speech to civility and all the good times we share; I’ll smile as we raise glasses to your good, white health, while the detonator blinks under the table, knowing the exits are locked and the air vents filled with gas.”

Schlanger then tells Philippe that she is Jewish, and apologized to Philippe that his experience made him feel that way.[…]

Philippe also told the interviewer that his race war fantasies were originally much longer, saying, “fun fact: that section used to be so much longer, so thank you to my editor for, like, condensing it.”

Because, like most Canadians, you’re not watching: According to the CBC’s latest annual report, only 0.8% of Canadians tuned in to watch CBC nightly.

In recent years, CBC has faced a significant decline in viewership and ad revenue. In 2019, only 0.8% of Canadians tuned into local CBC TV evening news broadcasts, with CBC only holding 5% of market share.
 
In a statement to True North, Senator Housako said that the government needs to reconsider the purpose of the CBC if the public consistently chooses other news sources.
