In his first remarks as president overseas, Joe Biden attempted to send a message to the rest of the world: America will resume its leadership role, recommit to global alliances and push democracy over the rise of authoritarianism.
“At every point along the way, we are going to make it clear that the United States is back and the democracies of the world are standing together to tackle the toughest challenges and issues that matter most to our future,” Biden said.
Biden’s statement that he has seen ‘no question of our credibility from our allies’ has said allies furious. Every NATO country has people trapped in Afghanistan and they tend to be trust fund babies or friends of trust fund babies. Every prime minister’s phone is blowing up with VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE asking how they’re going to get their kids or their kids’ friends out of Afghanistan and every ally is blowing up the phones of the White House and State Department and getting jack shit from them.
And they’re all blaming ‘America’ but they also know it’s on Biden.
Somebody can probably get an at least ‘off the record’ statement on this from just about any embassy in NATO.

Reuters reports that the oil cartel, which now includes Russia, sees no need to increase oil output beyond its current levels.
Gas prices in the United States have shot up since January 2021, increasing more than 40% in that period. This and Biden’s monetary spending policies are contributing to historic levels of inflation surging well beyond the average American’s pay increases.
Biden canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline and canceled oil and gas leases via executive orders on his first day in office. He faces lawsuits over those actions while they contribute to the rise in energy prices. The instability his decisions have caused in Afghanistan could have yet another negative impact on the economy.
Last week, Biden asked OPEC+ to increase production, prompting derision and reminders of his executive orders that harm U.S. energy production. He has his answer.

A socialist anti-war alliance that was led by the former Labour leader, is demanding reparations be paid to the Taliban so they can rebuild the country. Sure why not, Western countries are getting used to bowing to every social justice nutbar group on the planet. Meanwhile China is already using the Afghan mess as an excuse to invade Taiwan. Justin would like this idea, he enjoys handing out reparations and apologizing.

What began with the border crisis was joined by the covid outbreak. The trillions of dollars in stimulus turned on him to become inflation. Without a pause Afghanistan came out of the box months ahead of his scenario. Now with stunning speed, Kabul has almost fallen. Before he can react to one thing, yet another challenge emerges. Each time the loop goes round he is further and further behind.
Perhaps fortune will cut him a lucky break, but while there have been instances in history of a leader reversing the adverse tide, such feats require talent. Napoleon was reported to have said at Marengo, “This battle is completely lost. However, there is time to win another.” But Joe Biden is not Napoleon and his foes can apparently use time much better than he.
Events take the measure of a man. Biden may not even be, if events so far are a fair test, even the equivalent of Arthur Percival or Lord Elphinstone. Not since the fall of France in May 1940 has so mighty a paper force collapsed so swiftly before a foe. Biden has beaten the record and not in a good way.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that to this considerable tale of woe is likely to be added as much mischief as America’s enemies can contrive. They will pile it on. For no less than the Taliban, America’s near-peer adversaries now have the estimate of the hapless man in the White House. This confirmation of incapacity is possibly a greater loss than the fall of Afghanistan itself.

As expected Dementia Joe is blaming Trump for the disaster in Afghanistan. I’m surprised Blackie isn’t blaming Harper yet. Western countries seem to have leaders that are more interested in protecting their own images, rather than stick up for the values we used to have. Can we ever expect to have great leaders again? The fascist states of Russia and China must laugh at us. Its always someone else’s fault.
