Yes, The Afghani Army collapsed quickly. But I don’t think anyone would accuse the Afghan Army of going down fighting to the last man. They were mostly either bought off, turned coats, or simply ran away. I heard several units wanted to fight, but the Afghan Provincial Governors surrendered their military units to try and save their own skins.
Where we failed is that No One in Charge from Biden to the entirety of the Army Leadership to the State Department, AND ESPECIALLY the CIA, DIA, and State Department Intelligence took into account just how cowardly, flighty, and treacherous the Afghan Army AND Afghan Government really was. I bet plenty of people knew “our” faithless Afghans were a problem, but no one reporting to the Cabinet Level morons in charge was willing to admit it, much less put it into writing and planning. Allso, none of our expert elite DC leadership wanted to ask any questions or find any problems with their wonderful, Washington DC approved plans.
In a just world, Joe Biden would fire everyone involved, down to the Bird Colonels, the Entire Intelligence Agencies’ Mid-East Sections, and State Department down to the Embassy Staffs (if the poor stupid in country bastards survive).
