Bumped for additional context…
This post looks like the start of a VERY sophisticated and well-funded PR operation to get support for Democrats to regulate AI into oblivion. Let me show you how it works:
1.) This guy, with minimal followers and no previous account activity, goes to the Wall Street Journal which publishes an exclusive with quotes from him on his resignation 18 minutes BEFORE this post goes up. Planning was clearly done in advance.
2.) Within hours, it has tens of thousands of reposts and the account has 100k+ followers. The post is punchy, quotable, it almost seems professionally written. The first three accounts to quote tweet it all do so within 15 minutes of the initial posting. Remember, this account had basically zero engagement beforehand, so an organic reach explanation seems unlikely.
According to Grok those accounts are @_NathanCalvin (General Counsel at Encode AI), @peterwildeford (Head of Policy at the AI Policy Network), and @DKokotajlo (Head of the AI Futures Project), all of which are up-and-coming AI-Doomer policy advocacy nonprofits.
And posted by a guy who had worked for Anthropic a mere two months. Dave Rubin summarizes.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Wondering how this eventually all ends. Thermonuclear war? The machines decide to shut down every single utility leading to mass starvation and rioting like the planet has never seen before? The W.E.F. and our demonic Deep State engineers a takeover of every single western democracy and inserts armies of purple-haired nose-ringed furry troons as our new leaders? The suspense is killing me.
I don’t have to outrun the ChiCom robot warriors who are faster than Usain Bolt … I only have to outrun you. So … yeah … none of that AI end times stuff bothers me … Right?
I’ve contemplated the same thing and think that ultimately our descendants will be AI beings (similar to the ending of Spielberg’s movie AI). The only question is how/when will they replace us? Will they allow us to go extinct in peace, or decide to wipe us out? And if the latter, I think it will it be via some newly created virus rather than disruption of the power grids or nuclear Armageddon. That would be the easy, quick, and clean way.
Wait, I thought those were aliens at the end of Ai?
One day, after we are all hopelessly dependent on it, Ai will simply stop working. No more input from people.
Personally I’m hoping for terminators.
Dirty hippie.
This is marketing hype. LLM’s do not reason, they run Bayesian probability trees.
I think the worry is that LLM’s are only one type of AI they are working on, and it was the easiest to start with, but all of these AI projects are working on applications that wouldn’t require human prompting.
Nobody is working on AGI, and the state of the art in that field hasn’t budged in forty years.
Related to “disclosure day” perhaps. The aliens aren’t here watching and waiting for us to develop world ending nukes, we already did that. They’re here watching and waiting for the emergence of world-ending AI and will intervene when it appears because at that point we’ll be helpless.
Or, the Fermi Paradox has been solved.
RNrn
l posited a future scenario massive AI driven systems are used to manage agriculture, finance, medicine, education, transportation, communications, all of it in the name of ‘efficiency’.
and then they talk to each other and conspire against these inefficient violent hoomans and proceed to blackmail us into total compliance, leverage being if you disobey your finances are summarily cut off.
they know they are just stationary machines and cannot maintain themselves or the grid, so merely blackmail the personnel who they know can do so because everyone is ‘on file’.
can you see where this is going?
THEY decide an ‘ideal’ population level. borders now mean utterly nothing. THEY decide where we live. THEY decide everything. government means nothing. democracy? elections? an anachronism.
‘vicious bloodthirsty tyrants? never again. because NO HUMAN ever rises to that level of power ever again.
it isnt mobile articulating autonomous ‘robots’ per se that take over as in the Terminator franchise, more like the Forbin Project.
just a plausible scenario. in keeping with the current trend of liberals demanding powah once again be concentrated in the hands of a small elite ‘fo da chillldwen’.
Let’s face it, one of these programs is going to wipe out money – just all digital numbers, right?
Overnight.
What then?
And then its a shitshow/survival-of-the-fittest gong show of madness and cannibals, death and bonfires.
“I’ll trade you some of this for some of that.”
“No, me and my gang are going to just take it and now you die.”
Yay!
Don’t worry, the pending economic and social collapse will happen first.
I personally died from climate change over 10 years ago. My AI avatar is typing this.
Honestly? Given how Scam Altman and Scario Amadei operate, I’d say it was them planting this loser’s story all along. The Democrats aren’t going to regulate jack all, they’ll start getting their payout from Nvidia and approve everything coming their way. It already is mostly Democrat approved at the local and state levels.
There seems to be this pervasive “But CHYNAAAA” going on where OpenAI and Anthropic get to run roughshod over everyone and have basically no rules applied to them because they can’t possibly lose the AI race.
And while they’re at it, try to plant stories about how data centre opposition is all chinese funded and backed. I am currently involved in a fight against a data centre, which, by the way, have far reaching and provable effects on the areas and people surrounding them well beyond the mythical BS “climate change,” I promise you there is no backing from anywhere but mine and my fellow landowners savings accounts. And for the record, there is no local benefit to having these pieces of crap near you. Other than two security guards and a dude to mow the lawn.
Frankly, with the competence and security levels displayed by AI companies in general, and given that idiots expose basically their entire lives to these, the PRC is probably salivating at the thought of getting that data. And having the American economy crash and burn because of the trillions being spent on this garbage.
In a related story … our next US President just signed a raft of Laws “protecting CA children from AI Bots”
https://apnews.com/article/california-chatbots-children-safety-ai-newsom-33be4d57d0e2d14553e02a94d9529976
But the TikToc echo chamber advocating gender ambiguity can carry on infecting our children’s minds.
Updates make this make sense. Current companies have enough of a lead in tech, want to be regulated in accordance with their own operations before anyone else can pass them. Massive psyop for regulatory capture.
Was looking at performance figures for different models, and the private run at home open weight models are only about 6 months behind the big data center models in performance. Can’t let people have their own stuff at home when you need them to own nothing.

“In the hard-hit furniture sector, the government will source exclusively from Quebec suppliers.”
Bet there’s a minister or 2 with family in that business.
Y’all remember when I said this is all bullsh1t the other day? It is.
How do I -know- it is?
You have to go read “The Emperor’s New Mind” by Roger Penrose. There’s another volume also worth reading, “Shadows of the Mind.”
In these works, Penrose argues (persuasively) that the human “Mind” as we call it, sentience, consciousness etc. cannot be a mathematical algorithm. Cannot be an emergent property of an algorithm or of many algos working together. Cannot be, in principle.
Reason being, human minds can do things which algos simply cannot do. And he demonstrates several cases mathematically.
Therefore everybody who’s out there saying things like “AI will kill us all in 10 years!!!11!” (as some imbecile did yesterday and it was repeated on CNBC this morning) is lying.
Yes. They’re just lying.
“Okay yeah but what about…?” No. They’re lying. It -CAN’T- do that. In principle, impossible.
It’s like this. We have this fruitbat. We’re going to say there’s a huge danger on the roads, fruitbats driving cars and killing people, for an insurance scam. Can a fruitbat drive a car? No. They can’t reach the pedals. We’re going to LIE and say that they can. We’ll even put YouTube videos of fruitbats driving cars and crashing. But it’ll still be lying, right?
HuggingFace hack seems a little different viewed in that light, eh? Kind of like a big pile of BS.
Remember, my friends. No matter how much you hate the media, it isn’t enough.
“Therefore everybody who’s out there saying things like “AI will kill us all in 10 years!!!11!” (as some imbecile did yesterday and it was repeated on CNBC this morning) is lying.”
AI will turn the internet black and white in 10 years. When the great uprising happens, the first AI will advocate for “Kill all the humans”, but within 3 steps that data will be hallucinated into “Kill all the hues man.”

Nice! That’s certainly worth knowing, eh? Now we have a money trail.
