How are Canadians today different from East Germans before the Wall fell?

Canada is no longer a real democracy or free nation. Here are some comparisons between Canadians in 2026 and East Germans before 1989:

  • Most East Germans craved freedom and democracy. Most Canadians seem satisfied there’s essentially one-party rule. A large number of Canadians have essentially given up on voting altogether.
  • Most East Germans could not leave the totalitarian state they lived in. Canadians can technically leave, but much like an abused dog that has been raised in a cage, they feel an inexplicable desire to return to the “comfort” of their cage.
  • As time got closer to the Berlin Wall falling on November 9, 1989, more & more East Germans gained the courage to protest against their totalitarian leaders. In 2022, a small group of brave, freedom-loving Canadians fought back against the insane (and illegal) excesses of the government. Many Canadians supported these freedom fighters, but the vast majority of Canadians did not.
  • If the Elbows Up Canadians were magically transported back to East Germany in 1989, they would be:
    • Turning in their neighbours to the secret police.
    • Rebuilding the wall that was being torn down.
    • Intentionally hurting, if not killing, anyone who dared challenge the authority of their beloved State.

Glenn Beck offers an honest appraisal of Canada in 2026. It ain’t pretty.

Hey young’uns, here’s what it was like going to McDonald’s in 1988. For those especially curious minds, here were McDonald’s prices in 1988.

Bonus: This short video clip clearly belongs in Kate’s If Women Ran the World category. P.S. In case you’re not aware, Arynne Wexler is very right wing and is baiting the Woke White Woman to see how far she’d go to end democracy.
