      1. The rumour is that Kennedy left the party with another woman, and, unknown to Kennedy, Kopechne had crawled into the back seat of the car at the party to sleep it off. The married Kennedy’s focus after the accident was to get his girlfriend back to the party.

    1. Am I a bad person because I am so tired with the lack of common sense? If you live beside a forest and do not practice good forest management (clear deadwood and other debris, do not build right beside the forest – leave a fire break) and do not have a “bug-out” box (important papers, meds, computer, charger, water and some granola bars at least), do not be surprised if “stuff happens” when a fierce wind whips the fire your way.
      I find with Liberal and NDP voters, that it is ALWA YS someone else’s fault when trouble comes knocking. Bad stuff has happened to me, I have emergency funds to deal with trouble and try to avoid problems happening by using Kate’s line “What could possibly go wrong?”

      2. We put the same retards in charge in Alberta. Slave Lake, Fort McMurray, and Jasper burned up. To be fair, Jasper was federal retards. When unbroken coniferous forest comes up to and enters a city, the city will eventually burn down. Timing is the only issue. There are no forest fires in Alberta deciduous forests other than spring grass fires. I watched one summer fire 60 years ago. It took several months to go 3/4 mile. A pine forest fire can move 20 miles in a day.

        It would be simple and not overly expensive to build homes with no eternal combustible finishes. That keeps the fire out. There should be no continuous coniferous forest within half a mile of cities or within cities and clean up combustible forest trash in the same area. That would keep fires away. The solution is so simple the political assholes can’t figure it out.

      We have been taugh (i’m 75) that native or indigenous people knew how to live in complete harmony and balance with the earth. We were also taught that before the white man, North America was pristine so WHAT HAPPENED ON TRIBAL LANDS?

      1. About 10 years ago I was up in Salluit, a native village of some 1,500 people, located at the northern tip of Quebec. We met a very interesting guy who was born there in the 1950s. He claimed there were only 11 families back then, maybe 50-60 Inuit. He said there were too many people these days and no fish or caribou near the town anymore. “It’s crazy” how many people are here, he said.

        I would say over-population and poor forestry practice have resulted in this annual idiocy.

        1. Most reserves, set up about 150 years ago, are the same story. Most little reserves that started with 50-100 people now have a couple thousand people. There weren’t even enough kids to build schools and hire teachers. Keeping welfare societies in the bush with thousands of people is beyond stupid. Same thing with the Northwest Territory and Nunavut. Keeping 40,000 population welfare states in the Arctic is stupid. The entire population is on welfare or doing make-work jobs. Fly them into Toronto where they can exercise their abilities and become the new Tim Horton’s people.

    3. My biggest beef about the fires is they knew smoke was moving towards populated areas. In the summer I leave my windows open at night because I’m on the corner of a small apartment building and have a good cross-breeze and the air cools at night. Wake up last week, smells like a campfire and visibility is less than 1000m. Don’t pay attention to the news these days but I’ll look at The Weather Network for satellite images and warnings. If I got a warning the windows would have been closed. Too late.

    1. The map shows there are a lot of states where married women and blacks can’t take advantage of Olive Garden’s pasta pass. Married women and blacks cant get ID and thats why both my Democrat senators voted NO to stop the SAVE Act.

    The best way for Canada to decrease carbon dioxide emissions is for Alberta to separate. Then Canada can preen in their moral righteousness in the cold and dark and pay their own damn bills, and Albertans can enjoy a massive increase in quality of life. Win win.

    I’d appreciate if a few people liked and retwixed or whatever the word is; let’s get this out in the aether.
