  1. Oh yes. I wonder. If the narrator has. Autism. Ugh. Cool pictures, have to play on mute.

  2. Painting before photography.
See the Uffizi for all that plus marble busts of emperors, et al

  3. Thank you Kate for posting this.
Friend of mine says no photographs were ever made before 1842.
    Just sent him a Share.
His Denials will now fall on deaf ears.

    1. He just responded. First photograph in ‘America’ was never taken before 1842.
      Ha, BS with that.

  4. The population back then was only about 200,000 people according to my googling. It took off around that time.

  5. Well, Kate, if you had to dive back into doing your own work, you sure picked a good one.

That was incredible! The quality of the photographs was much higher than I expected at the outset, given that these were from the mid-1800s. The exposures were long, and the slightest shake would cause some blurring. Those photographers really anchored their gear.

Oh, one photo somewhere about midway through showed a huge gathering in some square or other. The horses and buggies were packed in and all I could think of was “Massive traffic jam!” after the event was over. Ha! Cars, horses and buggies, chariots, sedan chairs; some things never change. After the show it’s always a PITA to get out of the parking lot. ;o)

    1. Looking at the photo around the 9:20 mark, I believe that is Mass at St. Peter’s Square!

    1. “(Where are all the people?)”

Out and about, ntadardr. Roamin’ Romans, doncha know ;o)

  6. I’ll tell my story. connected to the internet! I was looking for nude female images on the Internet, but suddenly the connection was cut off – I forgot to top up my account. It was a strange moment when my impatience and inattention intersected. However, it served as a reminder of the importance of responsible commitment. Instead of aimlessly browsing, I decided to use this time for more productive activities.
