  10. Re: read more. I read all of Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels. Loved them. Recently, he’s mostly retired Harry and has gone to a female detective, Renee Ballard. I’m done with Connelly, in his latest novel, he goes all insurrection/Jan 6. Like Springsteen and King, I guess he’s made enough money to tell half of his potential audience to GFY. You first Mike.

      I like Connelly’s stuff, too, but I read the one you allude to and it pissed me off.
      In fact, a handful of his topical post 2022 novels are getting stupidly woke.
      Even a recent Lincoln Lawyer novel had a COVID thread that was annoying.
      I prefer Baldacci for that kind of entertainment.
      Otherwise, I love to read all kinds of stuff, new and old, as I don’t watch TV and like to listen to music while reading.

      1. Yeah even before that, although Bosch could not be a Democrat, he’d sometimes slip things in that didn’t fit. You’re right, lately he’s dropped all pretense. Besides most male authors do a poor job with female protagonists.

    l have a theory how polls are ‘rigged’ its based on the mathematical laws of probability.
    here’s the trick: pol party X wants voters to ‘think’ they are in the lead in order to *sway* opinion.
    so, its simple; because of the ‘96% accurate 19 times out of 20’ thing, it means *on average* the ‘poll’ will be off, ie not accurate 5% of the time. ie that ‘1 out of 20’.
    so, party X keeps commissioning polls time and again, ‘playing the odds’ UNTIL they get the
    d-e-s-i-r-e-d result which may not reflect the real measure of opinion.
    but so what? they got the desired ‘result’ and that’s the one that gets published
    see what l mean? just keep polling over and over and over again, and *mathematically* on average you finally get a ‘result’ thats way off reality BUT works for propaganda purposes.
    as such, all ‘according to the rules of measuring probability’ but like you say, & l agree, its rigged

    l reposted a third time, advising if it was censored a 3rd time they were going to
    ‘get a phone call’ and accusing them being ‘afraid of the truth’
