    2. My beautiful sister died over 2 years ago. She was 5’2″ tall and weighed 250 lbs., at least 100 to 125 lbs. overweight. Carrying an extra person on her body put enormous strain on her organs and she died from kidney failure. Whenever I asked her to lose weight (she did lose 70 lbs.) she would tell me to “mind my own business”. I miss her loyalty, her intelligent take on world events and her kindness.
      Now, whenever I see a fat person (and there are many of both sexes), I want to tell them to lose the weight. But of course, I do not, as this is not socially acceptable.

    You can be sure that the “Aamjiwnaang First Nation” will not give up using fossil fuels. Or the funds that derive from the oil industry, through government to them.

    … the market, that most democratic of institutions, votes with its feet. To eliminate choice is not progress it’s penance, self-flagellation to assuage ones guilt of prosperity. It’s the hair-shirt for suburban liberals who know paper straws won’t save the planet but ritual is everything; virtue as signal, inconvenience as sacrament, competitive compassion performed for an audience of one’s own reflection all to the faint hum of moral superiority.
