  1. Liquid Terminator! Skynet! The sky is falling!! Where’s Sarah when you need her?

  2. Yes, bridges manufactured of platinum will be Incredibly Affordable, while simultaneously ending the trade in stolen catalytic converters!

    1. Platinum.
At room temperature (neat!) in vacuum conditions (not so neat).
It says right there in the article.

This is occurring at the nano-scale level. Not at the regular bridge or skyscraper girder-level.
Interesting, but not all that practical, especially at US$970 per ounce.

      1. Yeah … the human body also repairs itself at the nano-level … we
Scab-over and build scar tissue … however … at the macro level when vital organs are ripped apart with a hollow point … repair is not so
easy. Perhaps Aliens heal better than we do?

  3. “In a vacuum” is key

Normally you will get a layer of oxidized metal which would prevent this.

  4. personal sub could have went to the Titanic four times in one day if they had some of that metal.
admiring Platinum watch the other day, only c o s t
    $275,000 -?

  5. Not alien technology. But, they do have an alien named Michael Demkowicz. If you have a few minutes, take a look at this guy’s achievements. As the article states, he predicted this “healing” back in 2013. But, the impressive thing I found about this guy is all the different disciplines he excels in. Technically, he’s a mechanical engineer. But, judging from his accomplishments and held patents, I think he could be anything he wanted to be.

  6. Go read an old SciFi book named 4 from planet 5. Don’t recall the author, but in that book a flying craft skin was repaired with what describes as self healing metal process and a cutter that separates molecular boundaries such that the parts are perfectly fit and join themselves anew at ambient temperatures. Guessing early 60’s when I read it.

  7. https://screenrant.com/star-trek-transparent-aluminum-real/

As reported via a video posted to Discovery, the revolutionary ceramic alloy (officially called Aluminum Oxynitride or “ALON”) is created by fusing aluminum, oxygen and nitrogen in precise measures; and was first observed by researchers at Oxford University by using a FLASH laser to remove electrons from aluminum atoms without altering their overall crystalline structure. The result was a material that retained the properties of aluminum but was also effectively transparent.

  8. Compare:
using a specialized transmission electron microscope technique to pull the ends of the metal 200 times every second. They then observed the self-healing at ultra-small scales in a 40-nanometer-thick piece of platinum suspended in a vacuum.
    To
repairing everything from bridges to engines to phones, there’s no telling how much difference self-healing metals could make.

How many of these “bridges to engines to phones” are: “using a specialized transmission electron microscope technique to pull the ends of the metal 200 times every second” and “at ultra-small scales in a 40-nanometer-thick piece of platinum suspended in a vacuum”?

No? Well, then, the only reason this story even exists is because people now are the following words:
sucker, patsy, victim, tool, pigeon, loser, dupe, pushover, target, gull, fool, soft touch, sap, idiot, moron, schlemiel, lunatic, monkey, mug, jackass, goose, butt, dolt, laughingstock, shlemiel, mock, simpleton, dunce, booby, blockhead, mockery, imbecile, ninny, simp, schnook, turkey, derision, nitwit, nincompoop, , dodo, schlub, dope, dummy, shlub, half-wit, cat’s-paw, mark, dumbbell, schlump, and yo-yo.

Seriously not rocket science. The writers assume the reader is one or more of the above words, because they have educated them to be so. It makes things much easier, for them, to make any kind of sensational sounding story they want and have people lap it up, for their advertisers, and for those peoples government. People get the kind of government they deserve.

  9. Hoo boy, they’re gonna need some giant sized vacuum chambers. May be a good stock investment……
