Most Canadians believe their country is one of law & order, with truth & justice prevailing over all else. Unfortunately this has proven not to be true at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
In late 2015, UBC Professor Steven Galloway was suspended because of sexual allegations. In mid 2016, he was fired. Full summary here.
Fast forward to the present day and on the eve of a B.C. Supreme Court case involving Galloway suing multiple parties for defamation, various people are finally admitting they did wrong.

I don’t remember this case well, because I had stopped reading or watching Canadian news media long before.
It does not surprise me in the least, though, due to a similar case at UBC years before (late 80 or early 90s, I think) where the puzzling vagueness and lack of detail of the allegations against another professor caught my attention. It wasn’t until a month or so later that we found out he was being extorted (for marks) by at least one of those students; that information came from an *American* news outlet because our own Canadian ones refused to report anything that made the alleged ‘victims’ look bad. This was one of the reasons I finally gave up on Canadian news: it just can’t be trusted to tell the real truth.

just watched a YT vid by a popular and prolific poster ‘Chill Dude’ regarding the ghastly incongruency over the time and cost of a typical arts degree, and the subsequent *on average* payoff, as opposed to a 2 yr college diploma in one of the many clamoured for $100/hr respectable trades.
l kinda had a foot in both camps. BS comp sci (which was marginal actually, only one shop wrote commercial code in Pascal, banking s/w using Borland’s Turbo Pascal.
then l used those earning to go back, pick up 5 more credits and garner a BA in poli sci.
the real payoff despite failing to get an appreticeshit after 20 years, was 5 years as an electrician’s assistant.
the acquired skill l used to apply abt 20K upgrades in my last house.
