Canadians: Taxes For Thee, But Not For Me

  1. Did the incurious grazers that vote for Jacobins and Bolsheviks that enact foreign buyers and empty condo taxes think there would not be payback. Too bad all those Canadians that own US properties aren’t all supporters of such rather than innocent casualties of trade wars.

  2. As a Florida resident I am all for increasing the Homestead exemption to account for the large increase in home values, especially over the last five years.
Most of the foreign owned properties are rental properties so the taxes are part of the operating cost and tax deductible so the impact on non-residents is not as great as the CBC indicates.
Perhaps, if Mr. Carney would get his act together, Canada could get away from 70 cent dollars. That devaluation is a greater impact than Florida’s tax changes.

  3. We need more taxes. Right? The government taxes your income, they tax your house, they tax everything you buy. They tax the interest on your money. But surely they can think of new taxes. What do we pay them for anyway? If we have extra money (call it discretionary income) then we aren’t taxed enough.

    Sincerely,

That’s why they tax the weather.
They’re taxing the very air that we breathe because -carbon-.
      It’s a make-believe solution to a make-believe problem.
