    1. They do come in handy , as he says , if thermonuclear war breaks out, easier on the eyes .
And as an added bonus, they are not white.

  1. PJW nails it again.

Love the reference to the racist Justine.

Still trying to imagine if PM Stephen Harper has been shown in blackface. I would have loved to have seen the Liberal and their media’s frenzied reaction to that.

  2. If memory serves, Meghan Markle is unabashedly not white. Of course, she doesn’t play well with others and wasn’t in attendance at the coronation.

    1. Maybe it’s her intention to suggest that leaving out Meghan is racist.

  3. Are all those criticizing “whiteness” willing to give up all the technological, dietary, medical, clothing, entertainment, housing, governance, safety, etc. brought to them by the Eeevil White Man and go back to the subsistence living and tribal warfare produced by their own cultures?
If they are wearing modern clothes, travel by air or vehicle, or regularly visit a dentist, that is Cultural Appropriation of the worst kind.
They do know that the Avatar films were not documentaries, right?

  4. No one ever says this about the Japanese royal family for some reason.

    1. Hirohito was a war criminal. His own brother came back from China during the Pacific War and denounced his genocidal policies to his face. He also spoke out in the Imperial War cabinet. But his brother the Emperor was a coward and refused to reign in Tojo. After the war, Hirohito was saved from an ignominious execution because (1) MacArthur was enamoured of royalty (a secret vice of the Yanks), and (2) US foreign policy turned on a dime, almost instantly turning their erstwhile ally China into an enemy, and their enemy Japan into a useful military base/potential cannon fodder/cat’s paw/ally. American foreign policy is funny like that.

The Empress Kojun was a upper-class snob and bitch; she drove her daughter-in-law the future Empress Michiko (now Emerita) to have at least two nervous breakdowns. Michiko was born a commoner, and came from an old Catholic family. She had been educated at the Sacred Heart Academy.

The Japanese press drove the present Empress into depression over the constant pressure to conform to rigid palace protocol and to produce a male heir.

The Imperial Family is rumoured to have a lot of money, but they haven’t been into conspicuous consumption since the Heian Era. Since the Yanks made Hirohito renounce his divinity, the Imperial Family have behaved in public with impeccable and meticulous propriety. They are truly prisoners of their position.

That said, most young Japanese really don’t give a damn about the Imperial Family. There is no real parallel with the Saxe-Coboug-Gothas (aka “Windsors”) in Limeyland, who are quite grotesque by comparison.

      1. Huh-huh.

        Now, are they white?

As you say, no one is interested in the comings or goings of this particular royal family but are keen to notice how the Windsors’ pallor reflects light rather than absorbing it.

        1. OK
Again your ignorance rules. European “royals” are all inbreds, nuff said!
