Moe: “We cannot in any way support the adding of export tariffs on a product like oil”
“Again, this is only a function of a flawed policy discussion that we have had in this nation over the course of the last decade or better, where we see those very, in all too often, those very same individuals that are promoting export tariffs on a product like oil, 10 years ago, were the very same individuals standing up and saying we should not build important energy security infrastructure like the Energy East Pipeline.” – Scott Moe
Think about this: The top three contributors to Saskatchewan’s GDP is oil, potash and ag, with oil and potash vying for top spot (usually it’s oil, but potash might beat it this year). If we put an export tax on any of those, we’re shooting ourself through the foot, floor, and neighbour’s ceiling in the apartment below us.

How “Uncanadian ” of Moe.
Shooting ourselves in the foot, while that foot is firmly lodged in mouth, while head is inserted..
that is what Can Ahh Duh specializes in.
Obviously our dear leaders need higher calibre weapons..
Or is it only Libtards that can be shot through the skull with no serious damage?
Moe knows, independence is the only way out,for the people he represents.
I am charmed by the way he prepares the ground, while pretending to believe confederation will one day finally function.
There’s a a race on in South America to enter the potash market. Argentina is expediting the industry. Chili already produces close to 2 Million tons per year. The point being that a number of South American countries are pushing that industry up the charts. And, each now has a conservative government.
Something to consider in the long term.
Well, if there are two things a leftist is guaranteed to not understand, they are history and economics.
The US South was Europe’s main source for cotton until the Civil War disrupted the supply, which gave them the incentive to look to Egypt and India as alternate sources.
US cotton production recovered after the war, but with the additional suppliers the price never did and the low cotton prices caused a lot of hardship in the South in the late 1800’s.
Excellent point. A lot of the South’s thinking with regards to policy (internal and external) was an almost religious conviction that they were a cotton ‘super power’.
The King Cotton thinking (which was a thing long before the secession and war, and even helped to encourage those) not only made them blind in their foreign policy (Britain bought up enough of their cotton to get them through until the Egyptian and Indian markets could be exploited, thus there was no real leverage), but also how reliance on cotton created social dislocation (and resentment) in the mountain regions of the South (the yeoman farmers weren’t exactly keen on secession; West Virginia became a state over it; Eastern Tennessee was an area of active resistance). It also destroyed a lot of economic potential that would have been useful for them when the war broke out.
Now, while not claiming to be any kind of historian … but simply a logical thinker … I’m wondering HOW Egypt managed to produce all that labor intensive cotton farming in the late 1800’s? Did they import slaves from the darker part of their continent? Or did they have enough sad, poor third world people to exploit/enslave in their own country? Did their new European customers “facilitate” the exploited labor pool by transporting slaves to Egypt?
Just curious.
Oh England totally took advantage of Egypt and India; the people were honestly in worse condition than American slaves (and the condition of slaves in this country wasn’t ideal, nor was the condition of many Southern yeomen either). Of course, this caused problems later on, but England got theirs (pun intended).
I’m rather glad we got out of that situation.
In a strange turn of events the Civil War was the thing that finally caused the South to start industrializing although at quite a cost. Would’ve been better if they’d given up on their plantation system, which was a far cry from the Jeffersonian ideal. (if you’re interested a quick look into the Tredegar Iron Works and the growth of metal and mineral industry in the Confederate South can give you some insight — really fascinating stuff — I was fortunate to have worked for the DNR during the academic off season, often at some state historical sites, lots of fun).
I KNEW you’d come thru U Jane … excellent synopsis.
More than welcome. I highly encourage Americans to learn about their history and take pride in it.
Fyi, while slavery was a dark spot on our nation’s history, it’s always good to remember that many of us wouldn’t be here otherwise — make the best out of a bad thing.
One of my own illustrious forebears came about thanks to it; my ancestress self-emancipated both herself and her son while pregnant (told you it pays to be able to blend in). The resulting child, born in a free state, got what has to be one of the most kickass names any of our country’s people has ever been named: Freeman America.
I really goofed not naming one of my boys that; kinda hoping for a grandson that gets it.
As my multi racial (Japanese and ‘black’ Tobagonian) daughter in law says … my son has ‘boring Western Euro DNA’. But my two granddaughters are even more blended than mom! And they’re all adorable …
My daughter in law loves sushi AND jerk chicken! Jackpot for ME … an adventurous eater. And my 2-1/2yo granddaughter is utterly addicted to crispy squares of nori.
I adore America as a melting pot. It’s who we ARE.
For my own family, one of my kids became a little vain about his looks thanks mostly to the darker part of my family always making such a fuss over his bright complexion — he’s very, uh, northern European looking, so for my family members he’s rare and special. His Auntie Jae always told him he looked like Captain America; everyone pretty much agreed; it wasn’t an insult.
He didn’t find out he was supposed to be ashamed of the way he looked until he got to school and heard it from…paper white people.
Fortunately he had a family that showed him not to listen (he’s still kind of vain about his looks though).
I guess I’m just a common whitey … who doesn’t get it … but I honestly don’t ‘see’ supposed skin color. For example … Kamalalalala likes to call herself a ‘black’ woman (since she ceased being an Indian woman) … but I look at her and I don’t see it. I see some kind of genetic mix … that she’s somewhere on the ROH ‘spectrum’ somewhere. Meh.
I honestly live by MLK Jr’s. speech and ONLY care about content of character … nothing else. And I raised my kids that way which is why they’re both with … ethnic … partners. I couldn’t be happier with their choices of character.
Well, there’s seeing skin color (and hair color and eye color) and there’s “seeing” it. Can’t really get away from what you look like, might as well embrace it.
If you can’t love yourself, who can you love?
Oh trust me, there were a lot of black folks that most definitely did see Kamala’s skin color, and she didn’t rate. I think if she’d just kept away from the “Imma proud black woman” she would have been better off…and lost the blaxccent and the twerk show; that was as the kids say “cringe fest”. But hey, they seem to like doing it. I see that El Sayed is now calling himself a ‘proud African’. Keep it up kids! You’re doing great!
Can’t really get away from what you look like, might as well embrace it.
If you can’t love yourself, who can you love?
Truer words have never been spoken!
BTW … I am a MAJOR FAN of Blaxploitation films and music …

Good to see blowhard elbows up fascist fraud Doug Ford get hoisted on his own petard for suggesting other provinces carry the protectionist tit for tat can for his Trump tantrums in his dystopic desire to replace Poilievre.
AB and SK are virtually untouched by Trump’s 50% tariff which he claims to have crafted thusly, so no thanks.
Carney speaks as if this is an actual military campaign with his ridiculously jingoistic rhetoric about a trade war.
The roaring mouse, caught in its own ethnocentric trap, fantasizing it’s Americans who need an attitude change.
The whole time calling anyone who disagrees a MAGA traitor, all of it feeding Alberta separatist sentiment.
Whining about sovereignty as Carney jets off to consult not ours but the European Parliament, showing his hand.
As he torpedoes CUSMA so he can have a pathetic attempt at free trade with steal your lunch collectivist China.
All to assure WEF/globalism status quo masquerading as a New World Order but just the old disorder for power.
It’s worth noting Boy Blunder and Trudeau 2.0 are at about the same support at the same times in their tenure.
As Carnage Carney demonstrates daily his mendacity, duplicity and the reality he’s achieved nothing in fifteen months, like his predecessor, his faulty judgement and misplaced priorities heading to a tipping point, always exacerbated by bad economic news and spun away by coercive, haughty egotists pretending to be our betters.
Note this quote about Carney from Conrad Black’s column in The National Post today……
“Despite his commendable efforts, Carney has really only completed two new trade deals, and their significance is negligible.”
Brainwashed Carney supporters should read that line repeatedly since they often spout about all the trade deals Carney has made. They are just another Carney lie. Carney has accomplished virtually nothing since he came to office other than travelling the world in our private jet dining in luxury with fine wines and ‘luxury butter’. Carney’s credentials mean nothing. He is neither a leader or a master negotiator. He is a failure and a very good conman.
He seems to be turning towards Europe even more than China.
Oh? So Europe is a customer for reprocessed cheap Chinese steel? Or does Europe need some help laundering drug and terrorist money?
Maybe both, but I’m thinking the latter is more important than the former.
And I’m also glad that we’re trying to extricate ourselves from this situation as well.
But Carney is already telegraphing that the focus will be on Europe.
There is video of Carney claiming that he identifies as a Europeon, but the chicken dance people claim it was just taken out of context…
Which is even dumber….The EU GDP as a percentage of world GDP has been roughly cut in half over the last 20 years and continues to fall. Yeah, aligning with the EU in terms of trade is like jumping out of the lifeboat onto the deck of the Titanic.
Think keeping connected to a circle of fake money that cycles unceasingly through itself and has been propped up by laundering, derivatives, and carry trade. That’s why my President is causing them to lose it.
In a related story … Pete Hegseth just blew up another drug boat.
https://nypost.com/video/us-military-blows-drug-trafficking-vessel-out-of-the-water-in-newly-released-footage/
Seems the Press have lost interest in that, and have moved on to how America is LOSING the war to Iran. Imagine that … we CAN walk and chew gum at the same time.
Imagine.
China is the new world order paymaster – usurping the nation state, the old order, but globalism as the status quo – who won’t accept bit part player status from the EU or Carney in their new world order, of a collectivist world run by them, with digital currencies, social credit scores and concentration camps.
The globalist system is breaking apart, and China is stuck. This is a cause for concern because the globalist system designated China as the world’s production site. They get rich off the China trade; China depends upon it. And now the wheels are starting to come off, hence the outbreak of that little Russia/Ukraine war; it’s an old playbook. I digress.
China has an internal problem. Chiefly, they didn’t build out their internals and relied on export to power their economy. The promise they made their people was employment, but what happens when your export driven economy can’t keep up?
And yeah, while it’s hard to tell with China, it does appear as though some have started to realize they were getting sold down the river, sooner rather than later. Carney was installed to try and keep them bought in for just a little while longer and to be used as a weapon against my country.
He should, that’s where his bosses reside. Once City of London, always City of London.
“The roaring mouse, caught in its own ethnocentric trap, fantasizing it’s Americans who need an attitude change.”
Or in our case, a roaring marmot…
Of course it’s absurd, but export taxes on energy and agricultural exports, including potash and natural gas, are almost an inevitability – probably one day after the referendum fails in Alberta.
But hey, Canada is Joining the eu – won’t that be great!
“probably one day after the referendum fails in Alberta.”
Yes, it’s going to fail fail fail. There isn’t any point in protesting it or blocking it, the referendum is going to fail.
Only juvenile Alberta Outlanders are going to try to vote against the old wise and thoroughly tried post-national
experiment that is Canada. I rue the day when I stand in line for hours to vote and it will all be for nought.
Woe woe! All I wants is a real country to live in. My precious. I think I will have the sads.
While I hate to put a damper on Albertan enthusiasm, Murph is probably right. the largest employment sector in both Alberta and Saskatchewan is healthcare/social services. Those people are probably not as enthusiastic about separation.
Well that isn’t accurate.
What part isn’t accurate? The largest employers in Alberta and Saskatchewan are healthcare and social services. There may be some of those people who want independence and will vote accordingly, but many are going to choose to stay because your present system pays them.
I’m not saying I wish this happens; I’m just saying there’s a high chance. You should be prepared for every outcome.
Still, you don’t really have anything to lose.
“There may be some of those people who want independence and will vote accordingly,”
Yes, I would expect some in any group of people who vote to choose to remain in the system that forced them to act like prison camp guards during covid.
I want to point out that ex-Premier Jason Kenney was dislodged from his position over the way he handled the covid issue.
You might want to look at this book:

A friendly correction uJane…
The largest employers in Alberta and Saskatchewan are healthcare and social services.
The largest employers in Alberta and Saskatchewan are government care and government social services. Government (taxpayer funded) jobs dominate.
The export tax gambit is just as stupid now as when it was proposed when Trump hiked tariffs the first time around. Potash miners are highly leveraged like any other industrial concern and work for thin margins. Export taxes will destroy those margins and then some, as customers are incentivized to look elsewhere. Let this go on long enough and the mines will start to close and then go bankrupt. The unsaid argument lurking behind these nonsensical proposals is the idea that taxpayers will cover any and all losses.
I agree. Export tariffs are a crap idea.
Canada has to maintain a reputation as a reliable country to buy from. This tariff war won’t last forever.
The ruling party in Canada spent the last ten years telling Canadians that we don’t need any more pipelines. Now that we missed the boat, the voting public prefers to pretend that all of that never happened and are content to reward the same ruling party for trying to reverse course, even if it’s far too late. Since Canadian voters can’t vote Trump out of office, they busy themselves with making sure that conservatives don’t gain federal office here, even if none of that remotely impacts Trump. If hypocrisy were a marketable commodity, Canada would be wealthy beyond belief.
“If hypocrisy were a marketable commodity, Canada would be wealthy beyond belief.”
Canada IS wealthy beyond belief. The Elbowzos elected choices just steal and squander everything.
What was that saying?
-paraphrased- “If you put them in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years, there’d be a shortage of sand.”
“If hypocrisy were a marketable commodity, Canada would be wealthy beyond belief.”
Well said.
Ok, so Moe stood up and said, what Danielle said first.
So Brave, so courageous, Mo. Only after Danielle went first……..
Meanwhile, the squish then added a 50% tariff on US booze.
Yeah, Mo is a squish, he just has a higher price than others.
“we’re shooting ourself through the foot, floor, and neighbour’s ceiling in the apartment below us.”
I liked this one. 🙂
In 2018 President Trump included potash on the list of critical minerals for the USA … in 2022 President Autopen removed potash from that list … in 2025 President Trump restored potash to that list.
https://www.tfi.org/media-center/2025/03/21/trumps-bold-action-on-critical-minerals-supports-farmers-and-u-s-food-security/
Why does this matter? because minerals on that list strip away many of the regulatory obstacles that make US mining unprofitable. It seems the left really, really, wants to starve the people of the USA … so they can finally MAKE Paul Ehrlich’s predictions come true. The left is happy to kill people to “save the planet”. Yes, they’re quite insane
Not just starve us; American agriculture goes ‘offline’ and the world starves. Four horsemen time.
Yes, they’re quite evil. Thank God Kamala didn’t win. Get out and vote in November Kenji. Say prayers if you’re devout.
Well, many leftists DO buy in so devoutly to the climate change scam that they think the world should only have 10-15% of the population it does now.
That isn’t even the crazy part. The crazy part is that they think the world will want to keep them and their Grievance Studies degree as part of the new population and not the Neanderthals who are skilled tradesmen.
How many people thought the Bolsheviks were going to make this great utopia where they would be valued members of a new society, one in which they would be free to do as they liked (that was part of the marketing)?
We all know how it worked out for them. But, wishful thinking springs eternal and all that.
My home could easily house 5 unrelated families in my 5 bedrooms. Dah! Comrade.
But this time round … they’ll just nick it off me with a ‘wealth tax’
In hopeful news, there are some signs that California may be getting tired of California’s state of affairs, same with Illinois. Let’s hope for the best. I want to see some good things happening for a change.
aka … Socialism ‘done right’ this time round.
Yes, I’ve sent $$$ to Steve Hilton. I hope it helps
The Bolsheviks marched under the banner, “Bread and Peace”
They did take Russia out of WWI. You know, before the U.S.A. even got involved.
Then Russia had 70 years of crop failures, the Canadian Wheat Pool propped up the bread part.
The Canadian Wheat Pool was Alberta and Saskatchewan. No surprise there.
These western ingrates really are not aboard the Canadian project, now are they. The decimation of whatever industry, commerce, and, agriculture they have out there is a small price to pay for the privilege of being a colony of Montreal. Ungrateful peasants.
Decimation is only one in ten. Those are rookie numbers, you’ve gotta pump those numbers up.
I caught that reference. Alright, alright alright….
You spelled “desecration” wrong. What kind of shaman are you, doesn’t know a sacred cow when he sees it?
On the bright side (for the US),
