It works! That’s how I do it, all summer pulling and hoing the weeds, and I get almost 30 side dishes of corn in a year. Great side dishes for my supermarket purchased meat which is fed by machine grown corn which makes up the majority of my meals.
Brings to mind climate-hypocrite Suzuki’s documentary on the wonders of Cuba’s farming techniques under communism – all done by hand with some occasional help by oxen:
‘In Cuba: The Accidental Revolution, Suzuki portrays Cuba’s messed-up food supply system as “the largest program of organic and sustainable agriculture ever undertaken,” a system that offers “critical lessons for the developed world.” ‘
If we’re going to practice Cuban agriculture, we’re going to have to warm up the climate.
Brings to mind Milton Friedman’s visit to Communist China. He asked why workers were using shovels on a dam project (would apply to agriculture as well) and was told that it was to promote employment. He remarked, “If that’s the case, why not give them spoons instead?”
Yet the poor people of Cuba have food shortages, I can’t imagine why.
Yes, a critical lesson from Cuba’s “program of organic and sustainable agriculture” teaches us we shouldn’t do it like that. But critical lessons are taught to more people than will learn them.
Don’t forget the magic of “Night Soil” trade marked by the CBC’s wise and official doctor of free manure, (four houses and 8 cars) David Suzuki.
Is he the official doctor of free manure because he’s so full of it?
A young female go worker was saying the whole world should just go organic. I asked her if she was willing to toil in the fields for 12 hours a day, then die in childbirth at 35.
Because we can’t afford anything much more than our food if we want it all organic. Oh yeah, and several billion people need to starve so that there is enough land for us to farm due to reduced yields.
He’s still sore that he and his family were put in internment camps during WW2. Deep down, he hates Canada and White people. What he doesn’t realize is that they were protected from the wrath of the families whose sons died in the defence of Hong Kong at the beginning of the Pacific War and later when the atrocities the Japanese wrought on its POWs were brought to light.
It’s not net zero, he’s releasing CO2 into the atmosphere.

Here is a slightly different take on the video :
If You Want Jobs Then Give These Workers Spoons Instead of Shovels.
