I still remember learning about Columbus as a hero, not a colonizer, and that a piece of evidence he used to get money from the Spaniards was the large cloud of forest fire smoke coming across the ocean. As a child I didn’t realize the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria were diesel guzzling ships.
They showed Al Gore’s propaganda movie to my kids in high school…..I went down to the school and tore that teacher a new one.
So she chose a highway backdrop with cars and trucks zipping along, powered by….. oil and gas. Maybe she might have had more effect by standing in the middle of the road.

Of course she/it of the magnificent intellect understands that if we forgo oil and gas the nation will revert back to wood and coal for heating and cooking. Instead of getting some smoky days during the fire season we’ll be able to enjoy smog and pollution 365 days a year. How is that going to affect climate change?
