    1. Milli-radians are used by many armies. 6300 or 6400 of ’em in a circle.
      360 mils is around 3.5 degrees.

      1. 6300 which is 2*pi*1000 (approximately).
        Used in the Swedish army (at least when I did my military service).
        Coupled with tan x = x for small x, this means eg that if the target was missed by 100m too far right at 2000m distance, then simply adjust bearing by 50 left (minus). Very quick and sufficiently accurate.

    They sabotaged their own economy by pretending to go green while relying on Pootin. Hopefully they have learned their lesson and will never buy from Orgrimmar again.

  5. I don’t think Germans are capable of learning lessons on a national scale. It was a huge mistake to turn a blind eye to Germany’s obscene Ostpolitik. They must be considered as no more important than France. The US should plan European security arrangements, alone. Willing and able contributors to a strategically sound NATO should take their place.

    Now, how does the US end the war such that Putin is defeated? If Putin wins, goodbye NATO. On the other hand total recovery of pre- 2014 Ukraine would only be possible with total war against Russia. And how to end it quickly? No open-ended Vietnam in Ukraine.

    It will require a miracle for the west to escape this war without suffering catastrophic loss.

      1. Pootin already lost and he knows it. He will drop no nukes, he is scrambling for some attempt to save face. It is important that russia suffers maximum loses, collapses with him and is never allowed to recover again.

    2. The US has no real security interest in protecting Europe anymore. Europe is a dead continent, with a dead culture. Nothing but a museum. They committed cultural suicide with immigration.

      Oh, you meant defeat Russia? Well, Putin has spoken to these things. Invade or attack Russian territory, and it will defend itself with nuclear weapons, on that, Putin has been clear. The Russians don’t forget the invasion and atrocities against them in WWII. They are determined for that to never happen again. And, he is the moderate in his regime. For wont of regime change, the west needs to be careful what it wishes for. Russia has its Warhawks too, who are all too ready to flatten the west, the US included.

      The Uke Nazis have been bombing the Donbas region since 2014 killing 14,000 ethnic Russians, but Ukrainian citizens nonetheless. It would be like Trudeau bombing Fort McMurray, for shits and giggles. This is now Russian territory.

      This is a new era of extreme, unparalleled propaganda by western media and western governments, it’s been going on since at least the Obongo regime. Endless and relentless onslaughts by media and government with one sided propaganda, ad nauseum, rinse and repeat.

      Now comes the same media telling us Zelensky is a saint, there are no Uke Nazis (despite many media reports from 2014-2020 detailing these facts), and Russia wants to take over Europe.

      Sorry, not sorry, the BULLSHIT emanating from the media and western governments all these years is clear to see, once one pulls back the thin sheen of propaganda. As others have said too, this isn’t picking sides, it’s cold, hard facts, and not buying the western narrative one bit.     4. It’s 2023. That this trench warfare of attrition goes on is diabolical. This war would end pretty fast if instead of hauling reluctant granddads away from families, they were left with sending war mongers like Annie Bareback, Vicky Nuland and Perogi Thighs Freeland into the trenches.

    5. Regarding Ostpolitik, yes it was a mistake are more accurately a monumental f*** up.. But modern German nation state hasn’t existed without Ostpolitik. People forget how young German nation state is and how crucial russia has always been in German geopolitical plans since the inception of modern Germany. They really need to reorient their way of thinking and recognize russia for what russia is. For a year they have been struggling with cognitive dissonance on national scale but some degree of sanity seems to be prevailing and some degree of national caoncensus (always crucial in Germany) is developing re Orgimmar.

      NATO is now stronger than ever. Pootin’s aggression has driven members together on a scale unknown since Cold War. We’re detached from it in Canada but the rest is very much in.

      And the idea that Pootin cannot be defeated is a joke. Russia is a historical loser of wars. A backward nation of orcs that is collapsing demographically. A corrupt shithole to a degree that worst corruption scandals in a civilized world pale in comparison. Crimean War, 1905 Japanese war, WWI, 1920 Polish Miracle, Finish Winter War, Afghanistan they lose wars more often than they win them. Just like they were expelled from Baltics in 1920 they can be expelled from Ukraine. Except now all those who consider them russian must go too (Baltics need to do the same).
