The number one country was Lebanon, who was in the 20th year of their civil war. Lots of ME countries and Latin/South American countries. Just returned from Chile – not a crap country, actually very first world. My sister and I think Chile is positioning itself as the “go-to” country for American multi-nationals. The government is actively encouraging higher STEM education for its population who have the smarts for it. I understand that Brazil (Portuguese speaking) is also doing the same. Sadly, Brazil seems to have a wider disparity between rich and poor, which could prove to be a major stumbling block.

She was a pampered, sheltered, suburban kid who was a vegan at the time. She was told in no uncertain terms by the HOPE ship people that she would NOT be a vegan during her trip … as the Western decadence of such a “lifestyle” would be considered offensive by people desperate for their next meal. The HOPE ship folks said her dietary CHOICE would not be accommodated. Oh, and they told her all the other basics such as NEVER leave the ship alone … or even in pairs … or without a MAN.
The anti-western, anti-American and anti-Christian-heritage attitudes of the lefty, politically correct social justice warriors requires them to insist that we are the bad guys and the rest of the world’s people are our victims, all those conflicts are our fault and they would never hurt us if we just love them enough.

They see only goodness and peace in themselves, because that is what they want to believe about themselves. They then assume/project that all humans are like that. When they say “All people are good,” they are really talking about themselves. In their pride, they are blind to their own flaws, and so cannot understand or admit to evil in others. Combine that with a blind, pathological hatred of the Judeo Christian Western heritage, which teaches that humans have good (Imago Dei) and evil, and you have this kind of willful stupidity. This is a letter in today’s Toronto Sun. Tarek Fatah, a muslim columnist, wrote about the impending Islamic Party of Ontario and how dangerous it would be. He is under several death fatwas and knows about what he wrote. This certainly left progressive teacher would naturally want him censured and his freedom of speech stopped. A perfect example of the leftist mentality and hopefully she could take a bike ride in a muslim country.
Re “Coming soon, believe it or not – Islamic Party of Ontario” (Tarek Fatah, Jan. 1): This hate speech column from Tarek Fatah should not have been permitted to be published! The comments in response indicate exactly the racism and hatred this has triggered! The idea that an Islamic Party is likely or a threat is an abhorrent suggestion! Canadians are better than this hatred! My church has sponsored two lovely Syrian families to come to our city. Columns like this alienate newcomers and encourage discriminatory treatment of them as they try to integrate into Canadian society. I am astounded that you would permit something so racist and hateful on your pages! I am a retired teacher. If I had encountered a student with such disturbed ideology, I would have referred them for psychological counselling! You encourage such psychosis with this piece! It disgusts me that you have no more morality than that!

you would have referred them eh. And there you have it. The very epitome of the decay of in western civilization. You my friend have done the world a favour by retiring. However the sad truth is you have undoubtedly polluted many young minds with your sudo Marxist philosophy.
I spend a lot less time here because of these sort of posts. Not because of the content, but because of the format.
I can read about 450-500 words per minute. Most people speak about 75 wpm, and half of that is nonsense. I can’t stand having to sit through this guy’s intro and smart ass comments to get to the point.
