  1. Canada Revenue Agency continues its crusade of attacking the lowest income earners in society. They must have done so well with waitresses.

  2. Several laws in this country one for the rich n powerful , one for the different coloured people, one for the Muslims, one for the Indians…..this country blows man. Just keeps getting worse. If I could say one thing I really despise Harper for he had a majority and did nothing with it why he thought “incrementalism” would work on brainless selfish greedy unintelligent morlocks is beyond me and for that I really curse Harper.

  3. Gawd! I hope; Audiogon, US Audio Mart, AudioAsylum Trader, eBay, Craigslist, and PayPal don’t report my online resale of used audio equipment … or the State of CA is going to BUST me ! McIntosh equipment really holds its market value.
… and here in the States … we are told … that all we need to do is make 11 million (sic) Illegals American citizens … and $$ Billions will flow into the IRS coffers as all the unreported and underground economic activity will be reported.
    Sorry. No dice.

  4. The good news is it will only cost CRA $500 million to recover $60 million in unpaid taxes.

  5. I fear that Harper suffered from an affliction that affects many conseratives – fear of what the enemy thinks about him. Look at Bush 43, despite the daily, bloodthirsty attacks, he never fought back. Same thing with Harper.
The sooner conservatives actually graow a pair and tell the evil left wingers to go @$%& themselves, the better. They have to play how the left plays – dirty. It’s high time we start using sledge hammers as fly swatters.

  6. I agree. Imagine the money they are going to spend sorting out the true “business” users from those who just have the account because they like the features. I have a Canada Post “Business” account because I want the shipping discount not because I am Amazon.ca.
Of course, that is not the objective. More gold-plated pensioners beholding to Big Government is.

  7. That’s why they hate Trump, and his tweets so much.
And that is why he is going to continue to tweet.
Not saying every tweet of his is necessary, but most are great to read, especially the ones the MSM.

  8. Which is WHY Judge Moore should DEFEND himself vigorously, from ANY and ALL false charges. The ONLY conservative I remember doing so was Clarence Thomas. Every other so-called conservative (Republican) has run-away, and hid in a closet any time the Democretin machine came after them. LOOK at what the GOPe are doing in the face of Judge Moore’s … ACCUSATIONS.
Listen to them say that they HAVE to “BELIEVE” any and every charge of sexual impropriety claimed by any woman. BULL – f _ _ _ _ _ g – SHIT ! Nothing should be “believed” just because it is “said”. What kind of MORONIC thinking is that? What kind of LAWLESS thinking is that?
I was SHOCKED … SHOCKED to see Greg Jarrett on FOX last night say that he “believes” Moore’s accusers … because the stories “sound” believable. Shame. Shame. Shame. Here is a man who I ordinarily respect, because he is an EXPERT and a stickler about the LAW … and here he is ignoring the LAW … by jumping to a conclusion without any verifiable evidence. I hope he NEVER gets nominated to be a Judge. What a GOPe FOOL he has proved to be. Sad. Annnnnd … he revealed, in his comments last night, that he personally HATES Judge Moore for his exercising his FIRST AMENDMENT rights to NOT enforce the removal of the 10 Commandments. In his explanation it became very clear that Jarrett HATES religion and specifically Christians. He presents himself as an erudite legal expert, who clearly HATES the Free Exercise of Religion. A numbskull who actually believes the US Constitution includes the phrase “separation of Church and State”. And I suspect that Jarrett is GAY … which would also explain his HATE for Judge Moore

  9. Scar – have you ever seen the letter CRA sends to the wait staff after an audit has been done on the employer? It’s brutal. CRA goes into a restaurant and demands sales information for all the wait staff. Then they demand – by staff member – the amount of tips received by debit and credit cards. They then look at each server’s T1 to see what tips were reported. The letter goes to the effect of “…..your sales were $xxxxx.xx…..based on an average tip of z% we calculate you received tips of $yyy.yy……you received tips of $aaaa.aa from credit and debit cards……you reported tips of $bbb.bb……explain the difference”. CRA really nails servers, particularly those who haven’t kept track of their actual tips and those who can’t prove how much they had to pass on to other employees (cooks, etc).

  10. Selling booze to rig pigs, a good looking waitress who flirts can make $500 a day in tips. A cranky old bitch might make $20. Generalizations are tough. When they tried the same thing 30 years ago they lost all the cases that went to court and gave up. I never thought they would go after the minimum wage class again. They did.

  11. Pay Pal is an American company. I wonder what the laws are regarding that. Plus if Pay Pal releases that information. Wouldn’t that be breaking confidentiality agreements with its clients. Couldn’t they be sued for that? Also since when is selling your used items or buying used items an illegal activity if you don’t tell the CRA? Or do only new items apply? Will this mean in the future that anyone selling something from a piece of old furniture to granma’s booties require a GST number before being allowed to do so? How can selling something that’s already been paid for be considered taxable income? Questions and more questions.

  12. The CRA and IRS cooperate and help enforce each others tax. CRA will spend an absolute fortune sorting out Pay Pal users into businesses and personal users. Somebody selling off a personal collection of something is not a business nor is selling other personal property. Even the fact that somebody is selling goods as a business doesn’t make them taxable. They have to make a profit. In my experience, the vast majority of people would be declaring the business income already and are likely claiming a loss.

  13. The CRA is pulling disability designations from people with real disabilities right now too. I’m just waiting for my son’s to be pulled (he’s autistic). Basically as usual, everything a liberal says is A LIE. Their fighting for the middle class schtick is actually completely 100% screw them and give money to Quebec in paper bags.

  14. One thing that I’ve learned while during the process of settling my father’s estate is how much the government loves when people die. It likes to treat an inheritance as an unearned windfall, almost as if one has won a lottery jackpot.
It’s bad enough that the provincial government skimmed off a nice bundle when his will was probated. I shudder to think of how much tax I’ll be paying on the capital assets he had.
Now, I suppose that when I sell some of his possessions for whatever price I can get for them, I’ll be taxed on that as well, even though I have no idea when they were purchased or how much he paid for them.

  15. You need a GST number if your revenue exceeds $30,000.
Pay Pal must abide by Canadian law when operating in Canada.
CRA has asked for a summary of all purchases and sales from 2014 to 2016.

  16. If you bought something new for $100, and paid a combined GST & PST of $10, Then resold it years later for $50, wouldn’t you be entitled to a tax refund of $5.00?

  17. I ummm, describe it as a law for the poor and no laws or regs or anything of that sort for the uber rich.
I still say, and news like this only supports my theory there WILL be a time when a miniscule # of citoyens and corporations (owned by a miniscule # of etc) will own some 98+% of ALL assets and resorces on, under and above the globe. including such abstract things as copyrights, patents, radio frequencies, satellite orbits, anything and everything with a dollar value.
the rest of us swirling masses will once again feel the love of a new middle ages. sharecroppers, peasant tenant farmers, indentured slave labour, etc etc. technology will allow the masters to monitor EVERYTHING.

  18. oh, and my CRA story has 3 parts. each one with them going after taxes that either I didnt owe or had already paid.
the last time (mid 90s) consisted of me showing up at the Hamilton downtown govt bldg with about 20 pages of documents laid out on the counter and me showing them step-by-step how they screwed up, and telling them (not bluffing btw) my next stop would be the Ham Spectator just down the street. it was around the time another tax office had been exposed for having *unofficial* quotas.
I won every time. infuriating to think they blew what taxes I paid, trying to take more and failing.
currently I run a rooming house and deduct and DOCUMENT everything I can think of. everything. gas for the lawn mower, appliance depreciation, paint, light bulbs, mtg interest, prop taxes, etc etc up the wazoo. thus, no taxes due for the last 3 or poss 4 yrs.

  19. Stop including tips when paying with a credit card. I only pay tips with cash, damn the inconvenience.

  20. Everyone who lives in a Western country needs an accountant and a tax lawyer – basically a serious expert in what tax laws actually say. Most tax agencies nowadays are staffed by twits who just got off the plane, and don’t even speak an official language. It’s fun when your representative goes full tax lawyer on their asses, and points out the reams and reams of basic errors they have made.

  21. And that is one of the necessary preconditions, to the bad situation we find ourselves in.
You want the law to serve only you and your friends? Make the law so arcane and complicated that only you and your friends understand it.
You want the tax system to serve only you and your friends?
You want the court system to serve only you and your friends?
You want to make it so only “people with experience” and lawyers can win elections?

  22. The request from CRA comes via court order and is for Pay Pal business accounts only.

  23. So true. I spent several years in that hellhole. Low hanging fruit they called it.
Hairdressers, taxi drivers, etc. Try and garnishee an ex MP, city mayor, Senator, or any
known person of stature and you were summarily told to drop it and move on.

  24. Just like Bill Morneau and his cronies…!

  25. the CRA was, is and continues to be a criminal organization. they strip hard working people of their modest wealth and distribute it to useless pols and welfare freaks.

  26. “Plus if Pay Pal releases that information. Wouldn’t that be breaking confidentiality agreements with its clients. ”
Exactly. What is missing in this FP story is the reaction from PayPal. Are they rolling over? Are they contesting the order?
