  1. I find it laughable that PM Pipsqueak might actually think that he’ll convince Trump to go along with it.

  2. From the press release on the Chilean Trade Treaty,
“The trade and gender chapter acknowledges the importance of applying gender perspective to economic and trade issues to ensure that economic growth benefits everyone, confirms the intention of both parties to enforce their respective international agreements on gender from a rights perspective and provides a framework for Canada and Chile to cooperate on issues related to trade and gender, including women’s entrepreneurship and the development of gender-focused indicators.”
I didn’t know a box of widgets or barrel of oil had a gender?

  3. God’s Teeth, they’re certainly going to great lengths to ensure we’re never taken seriously on the international stage again.

  4. Well, this should work.
Because gendered trade is evil trade and, hey, climate change is a huge thing with the Trump Administration.
Once again the Liberals walk, blindfolded, into the abyss.

  5. Freelands whole raisin d’etre the Ukraine has been accused of supplying the North Koreans with missile support. Wonder how she might explain that?
Her credibility on this file is thin. She has no background that would suggest she is up to the task. Add in her personal strident ideologue views and you have a disaster in the making.

  6. I don’t think Canada’s “First Nations” qualify as “Indigenous” as defined by the UN .. They are just a group of freeloaders who gave up their tribal roots for bargaining power

  7. So, in other words…Canada is not really interested in negotiating. The Americans should just say “Thank you. I think we’re done here.”

  8. Andrew Coyne in today’s NP, page A1 suggests that the Liberals may be deliberately sandbagging the talks by courting the NDP’s indigenous, gender, labour, and climate loving folks in the belief that in the event the talks fail and Trump abrogates the deal, Congress will ultimately not repeal the trade legislation. He reminds his readers that the Liberals have been courting plenty of US lawmakers. In effect he intones, the Liberals will say they fought the good fight but couldn’t pull it out.

  9. I suspect this liberal wish list is more for the liberal base than it is for negotiations with the US. Canada needs NAFTA more than the US so Canada will be the weak sister when it comes to the negotiations.

  10. ANY element of ANY negotiation that is publicly revealed in a media event (“Hey Canada, look at us! …aren’t we wonderful! …vote for us!”) is intended only for local Canadian consumption. No sane negotiator ever openly publicizes their real intentions, so the Libranos are either not sane and/or they are just campaigning to move NDP supporters over to the Librano cause.

  11. This is the beginning of the end for supply management. Unless 15% of quota and production facilities are given to indigenous people.

  12. Knee go tea ateing “from the heart”?
so the Turd will demand that men be able marry rich as easily as wimins????

  13. Importing other countries goods, services and problems and trying to export socialism.
    Sounds like a Wynne-Win strategy.

  14. Coyne if right, and I don’t think he is , is outlining a strategy that will fail. Mexico and the US will simply go it alone leaving the LPC to blame for wreaking havoc on th Canadian economy because of sjw issues.
I think these clowns actually think Mexico and the US will listen to cda on these non-trade “issues” they won’t and the LPC will panic and throw it all overboard. Dumb.

  15. But Freeland is so smart. Our media tells us that all the time.
By the time Trudeau and his crew are done even our wood to hew and water to draw will be out of the world market, marooned in a sea of morons.

  16. Can’t remember where I stole this:
The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and insome
places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the
Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate at Bergen Norway
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical
change inclimate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic
    zone.
Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far
north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.
Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very
    warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones,
the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely
    disappeared.
Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while
vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far
north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.
Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will
rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

    * * * * * *
    I must apologize.
I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922, as
    reported
by the AP and published in The Washington Post – 94 years ago.
This must have been caused by the Model T Ford’s emissions or possibly
    from horse and cattle flatulence?

  17. Brought to you by the Liberals and the Media:
Guaranteed energy poverty widespread in Canada within 10 years, ie… regular Canadians freezing in the dark due to inability to afford the cost. Energy costs solely due to “Global Warming” religion. Ironic eh? Freezing due to warming.
Why do Liberals and the Media hate Canadians so?
Of course, it could be worse.
Liberals and the Media in the USA are determined to start a Race War and a World War.
Should be just about time for Vive Le Quebec Vive, Non?

  18. The globalists are writing the rules. Canada won’t succeed, but they must follow orders. I miss the Harper days when you knew the goverment was actually working for Canadian interests.

  19. Canadians are just getting the government that they voted for and deserve. No serious nation would elect such dysfunctional humanity. The laundry list given are distractions for the idiot masses that elected them. Canada has no bargaining strength other than from American interests. We might just as well stay home and have them send us the final agreement for signing and that would likely be better for Canada than what Chrystia’s team will negotiate. Personally, I would love to see the US kill our supply management system.

  20. Once again, Freeland, Dopey, and the rest of the JV team prove they are note ready for prime time. If that is truly their position, say goodbye to the auto pact, Morontariowe.
Indigenous issues? What’s that, sitting around waiting for the grass to grow, paint to dry, and Big Gubmint to lay down some green? The Libs are beyond ridiculous

  21. The bombastic foreign minister is a legend in own mind.
The only saving grace here is that the Americans are polite and will play it into the out.
The foreign minister’s demands for Americans to toe the line on “global warming”, wimin’s issues and other such socialist nonsense in the foreign ministers otherwise empty head, is a complete nonsense and stupid.
The minister and the airhead in Ottawa demanded other such things from the Chinese.
Can you imagine the leaders of China (population if over a billion) listening to some lightweight from a country (population of +- 35 million) over an ocean away to tell them how to run their country?
That they are communists and dictators is not part of this argument.

  22. Trudeau plus his band of Keystone Kops will sink Canada as sure as shit.
With Harper, the future would be much brighter economically. But the ‘skinny jeans’ people wanted the big hair guy.

  23. “Canadians are just getting the government that they voted for and deserve.”
Exactly! Hopefully Trump tells Alice in Wonderland where to stick it.
Meanwhile US shale production is breaking monthly records, and major companies are pulling investment funds out of Canada. Latest, Huskie Oil had planned a major (400 million?) expansion in their asphalt production facilities in Lloydminster, but changed their mind and rather purchased an asphalt plant in the US.
Maurice Strong’s dream of deindustrializing the west is working well in Canada.

  24. Yes … on the surface this Fairbanks Declaration sounds like a backtracking, if not betrayal, to voters who (in part) elected Mr. Trump to STOP the global warming proliferation nonsense. However ! The devil is in the details … and what the USA just signed-onto is a “Paris-style Accord” that has NO regulatory power, and which requires UNANIMOUS consent by all parties. So, in effect, President Trump found it more expedient to sign ONTO the agreement … so he could casually abstain from any votes whatsoever … effectively KILLING any faux global warming in the Arctic nonsense. It makes total sense, and doesn’t worry me in the slightest that MY President has “betrayed” me. Even the global warmist activists understand that … and HATE the agreement, and HATE President Trump for signing it. THAT alone tells me that MY President (through Tillerson) made the RIGHT decision.

  25. someone.probably Butts has handed Justine a great big cup of shut the fk up. he hasnt open his mouth for days.

  26. Are you all being sarcastic, or too politically naïve to understand that the posturing on those three items has nothing to do with NAFTA, but has everything to do with the next federal election???????
They know damn well that they won’t be included in the revised trade agreement, and the Liberals are perfectly fine with that, but makes great fodder for “their” base for the next election.
See, we tried to include glowball warming, but, but, but Trump…
See, we tried to include Indians, but, but, but, Trump…
See, we tried to support womyn, but, but, but, Trump…
It ticks 3 big (identity political boxes), environmentalists, which they have to repair due to the pipeline approval. Native Indians, which they have to repair due to AMMWoman commission. And Women, which they have to repair due to JT acting more gay than feminist.
If they would happen to get something included, it would only be a bonus. and a big laugh for them around the cabinet table.
It’s politicking with “our” trade agreements and show boating for those at the U.N.

  27. kuzo; It may be something I posted a year or two ago. Not claiming it, infact might be something Kate et al sent me looking for or just reading here. Just saying . Cheers;

  28. Right, I forgot it’s 3D chess…maybe even 4D…he’s the Orange Jesus.
    http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-paris-agreement-climate-change-2017-6
“I don’t want anything to get in our way,” Trump said on Thursday. “The US will withdraw from the Paris climate accord, but begin negotiations to reenter either the Paris accord or a really entirely new transaction…
“We’re getting out, but we will start to negotiate, and we will see if we can make a deal that’s fair,”

  29. “Canada Will Implement Nafta Unchanged
    New Leader Does An About-face
    December 03, 1993
By Storer H. Rowley, Tribune Staff Writer.
TORONTO — Breaking a campaign promise, Prime Minister Jean Chretien declared on Thursday that Canada will implement the North American Free Trade Agreement Jan. 1.
After failing to get the Clinton administration to reopen NAFTA to correct concerns of his newly installed Liberal government, Chretien opted to accept side deals and assurances from U.S. and Mexican officials as enough to clinch the deal.”
Liberal playbook is so well known.

  30. Hey Gord, the Turd will get himself some new “special socks” for the occasion and all will be well. Trust us we are the government and know what is best for the country /s.

  31. It is important to remember that the Liberals and NDP never wanted NAFTA. The silly demands and bluster that they will walk away may be a deliberate strategy to value signal and leave in favour of a bi-lateral agreement, which is Trump’s preference. Canada looses, but the new agreement will be promoted by the media party as far better.

  32. and so much for any industry we have left. this government is soooo stupid and terrifying at the same time.
