Meanwhile, In Nork Nuke News

Blink.

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un decided Tuesday not to fire ballistic missiles at Guam, reserving the right to change his mind if “the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions,” according to North Korean state media.
Kim appears to be attempting to de-escalate tensions…

  1. So, the fat little tyrant rattles the saber, makes some threats, and aggressively postures for the region. Then Trump responds by going off the handle, rattling a shit-wagon of sabers, threatening his complete destruction, and promising to turn his country into a giant mushroom farm, and the pipsqueak shuffles back into his hidey-hole.
This is simian psychology. Trump just silver backed Kim. He asserted his utter dominance by putting on a far bigger, fiercer show than Kim.
    Winning.
Obama would have rolled over and offered Kim his ass.

  2. Now look for massive purges in the NK military as Kim tries to hang on to power. His generals have seen weakness in their leader and now Kim has reason to fear them.

  3. Let’s see what happens next: will kju quietly proceed to finish his nuke program?
Will those around him see this as a failure and kill him?
Will china and the other enablers (Russia is just one) resume trade with NK?
And how will trump be able to keep the pressure one if the world thinks that kju has retreated ?
This appears to be a victory. But is may also be just another feint by NK.

  4. No surprise there. This is the same US-DPRK dynamic that’s been going on for decades. The DPRK quietly makes incremental progress in developing nuclear weapons, the US hollowly threatens to shut it all down (hollow, because it has no acceptable military options, because Seoul is 35 miles from the DMZ, and the US needs Seoul so it can maintain a forward presence in the far east), the DPRK hollowly threatens to rain death and destruction upon the US devils if they do so, international sanctions are introduced, the DPRK backs down from its empty rhetoric, the US backs down from its empty rhetoric, the DPRK goes back to quietly making incremental progress in developing nuclear weapons, and the cycle repeats.
Trump’s recent “fire and fury” bluster did nothing to shift the DPRK’s long-term strategy here, though it did manage to bring the US Presidency down to the rhetorical level of Kim Jong-un.

  5. NoKo has artillery emplacements dug in targetting Seoul.
How many deep penetrating bombs can we drop at once?
If we were to consider a military strike, we need to have a simultaneous combined strike to take out dug in artillery emplacements, launch sites, and leadership.

  6. President Trump put the pressure where it was needed, on the PRC. The PRC ended NorK imports a couple of days ago.
Fatty Whitewalls cooled his rhetoric. That is all.
I agree with those who say the NorKs will continue to work on their nuke program.
The can has been surreptitiously kicked down the road. …to be continued later.
It’s time that President Trump focused on demanding international inspection of North Korea’s nuclear and rocket programs to assure compliance.

  7. Is the un-Un underway? Normally Kim withdraws from public prior to missile launches, but this time he disappears but does not fire his missiles.
Deterrence works; too bad the tone deaf hate Trump media fools wouldn’t know a political nuance from a salad fork.

  8. Let’s be honest, my President Trump just CHANGED EVERYTHING about how we deal with the little thug in N.Korea. No more food shipments, no more clinking wine glasses with Madeline Halfbright, no more kowtowing to NK every time the little tyrant rattles his nuclear capability. We tried appeasement … and it produced only more appeasement. Thank you President Trump. Finally, we changed the narrative by speaking direct … without the mealymouth diplomat-speak. Without kneeling before the little psycho. Let’s hope that the fugly little punk has learned a lesson … in part, that China will NOT defend them if they initiate a nuclear conflagration. Trump elicited a very definitive statement from China, both inside and outside the UN, that they would sit by and watch the USA turn NK to glass … if the fat boy STARTED throwing nuke missles toward the US or her ally’s. No other POTUS ever got such a definitive statement from China. And the Democraps say Trump doesn’t know “diplomacy”. Hey Dem’s ! Diplomacy includes the threat of retaliation … as well as appeasement.

  9. Kenji;
    Love all this!
IMO China cannot take comfort in a nuclear NK as it amps up the military in all the USA allies. Top that with a NK which will/could chart a more independant diplomatic course away from China. China taught NK their brand of brinkmanship and it could just as easily be used against them as anyone else.
I do not see a direct military assault of NK. Seoul is ringed with massive NK artillery. More likely the Chinese orchestrate a regime change or there is a military coup. Kim is the head of an elite that all benefit from their skimming their economy.

  10. The vaunted NorK artillery is not as potentially effective as some make out. The artillery is in tunnel/bunkers and the bunkers have metal doors which will be jammed shut from an aerial bombardment. Those missed by the bombardment will be picked off one by one by counter-battery action and airstrikes.
You’ll know when the bombardment is about to begin when the population of Seoul starts to evacuate south out of artillery range.
I doubt that this artillery has been tested and maintain properly. I also doubt that it has been target zeroed.

  11. Yes Andy , ,who knew ? Of course the narrative being spun when mentioned at all is the U. S. Backed off . That is if there is time to mention it after telling the tail of how he has mis handled Charlotte . You would think he had forgotten to mention there was a Muslim terrorist – stupid me – that is required . Meanwhile the righteous destroy property ,assault people and tear down statues and the silence is deafening.

  12. I don’t think that the U.S. has backed off. I really do think that President Trump will begin on insisting that international inspections begin in North Korea to monitor their nuclear and rocket programs.
If their aren’t inspections, how will the U.S. or the world know if the next time the NorKs launch a satellite it isn’t an ICBM?

  13. I see some military experts in here, who think that the USA needs to destroy all the “artillery” the norks have pointed at the south. Heads up for you “experts”, a few fuel-air bomb are PDG at killing the operators of that artillery, and those who survive will be few and easy targets. Or maybe a few MOABs will do a bit of damage.
OH: were is the COLON, the expert on all things military?????

  14. I think Trump did exactly what was needed. The msm is giving him little or no credit and atributing NK change to the U.S. backing off .

  15. “2 questions.
A: In his time in office, why didn’t Obama descalate the tensions between N. Korea and the USA??
B: Why was this story about deescalation not on CBC and CTV??

  16. Two Questions:
A: In his time in office, why didn’t Obama deescalate the tensions between N. Korea and the USA??
B: Why was this story about Trump and deescalation not on CBC and CTV??

  17. what ho? mr k j unhinged backed down when he got a weeeeee bit too close to the dragon’s tail?
migod. it’s like the Donald read my thoughts. can I take credit for the whole incident?
ferfcuksake, there is a time for negotiation that goes on for YEARS and on occasion a time for a big fan of twitter to speak *very* candidly regarding images of a firestorm covering a huge portion of an entire country.
Im STILL convinced the American brass has about a dozen plans in place to deal with a nuke missile coming from north of THAT border. “a rain of ruin the likes of which”, H S Truman. still the simple, common, decent, plain speaking man. and profoundly eloquent for THESE times.
