So what did wikileaks reveal? Among other things, an email from ThinkProgress chief editor Judd Legum to major Democratic donor (and climate warrior) Tom Steyer bragging about how he had successfully trolled FiveThirtyEight statistical analysis website proprietor Nate Silver into getting rid of Pielke. Why go after Pielke? Because he had published an article at 538 based on his research daring to point out that so far climate change had not boosted “normalized” property damage. Normalized basically means taking into account the fact that as a result of economic and population growth there is more property and lives at risk from bad weather.
More: And when it comes to pattern recognition, I see the climate science skeptics within the scientific community as being similar to Shy Trump Supporters. The fact that a majority of scientists agree with climate science either means the evidence is one-sided or the social/economic pressures are high. And as we can plainly see, the cost of disagreeing with climate science is unreasonably high if you are a scientist.
Both via Instapundit.

If they had science on their side they wouldn’t have to lie, conceal, exaggerate, and in one famous case, steal.
If you’re not a racist, then you are certainly a Russian propagandist.
If Conservatives would fight back maybe they wouldn’t be lied to , serf-taxed and laughed at by Liberals.
Canadian Conservatives are prototypical Trump grabbees.
I would certainly chip in on a big country wide ad buy with the proper meme.
Something like:
I will fully support AGW once Trudeau, Dion, Suzuki and the rest of the Khmer Vert show real sacrifice and don’t just buy indulgences.
No more trains, planes or automobiles.
No mansions allowed.
Let’s shame for their phony religion!
Sounds like an idea.
Maybe pointing out their Jets, Mansions, and huge SUVs while they expect us peasants to conserve?
Tom Steyer is living proof that even a Billionaire can be mentally ill. Steyer is a classic narcissic psychopath. He has become unhinged in his “belief” that he is singlehandedly “saving the planet”. The Captain Planet generation has been brainwashed ala Clockwork Orange … forced to watch Eco-indoctrination video on an endless loop with toothpicks in their eyes.
Climate change “scientists” need to be arrested and jailed!
I don’t believe in AGW for the simple reason that I have a long memory.
In the early 1970’s,scientists assured us via hundreds of hysterical articles that the planet was cooling and we were headed for an ice age that would wipe out the population of the planet via mass starvation and world wars over food and energy shortages.
That theory never got the approval of the media superstars of the day,so it quietly withered away.
Five years after the death of “ice age,ice age!!!”, we were presented with a 180 degree turn in catastrophic fear-mongering,Global Warming, and many of it’s proponents were the SAME scientists who had previously predicted Global Cooling.
I’m a big believer in the old adage, “fool me once…etc.”
Now the HGS (history’s greatest scam) has become so entrenched in the child like minds of the masses, who will believe anything if it’s presented in a way they favor, anti-AGW has become heresy, and the Believers fail to see they are the modern day Spanish Inquisition,in their righteousness.
And add to that the fact that a few people are making billions of dollars off of the carbon credits exchange, and the reason for the whole thing becomes obvious; first, MONEY,and secondly, control of the masses.
The people behind the curtain are globalists maneuvering the masses into a position through propaganda and fear mongering, where they will be docile peasants completely subservient to a fabulously wealthy elite and their minions.
Unfortunately, we skeptics seem to be outnumbered, with our numbers decreasing every day, while the propaganda factories we call educational facilities produce more of the credulous by the millions.
Yep, climate change alarmism has all the warning signs of politicized science and mass hysteria. The joining of the primarily computer model science and the self-enriching political policies is so blatantly obvious you would think that there would be more skepticism. Even major green energy and carbon pricing failures like Ontario, Spain, the EU ETS, etc, are routinely ignored.
There is actually three main positions in the climate change debate 1)It’s a hoax 2)Alarmists – it is real and it will be catastrophic. We must tax and spend billions immediately 3)Lukewarmer – It is real but not catastrophic. We can probably adapt and also make gradual, technological changes. Alarmists (including journalists) want to pretend that everyone who disagrees with any CAGW pro-poverty political policies or even slightly questions if AGW is catastrophic believes it is a hoax when most credible opposition comes from lukewarmers. Then the alarmists viciously slander lukewarmers personally while treating opposing arguments as if they are crazy, conspiracy theories, no matter how calm and well reasoned the arguments and disagreements are presented. Another example like Pielke’s:
http://www.rationaloptimist.com/blog/my-life-as-a-climate-lukewarmer/
soooooooo Wikipedia is the hero when it exposes the billions of dollars hypocrisy of the zuki set, but otherwise ixnay?
whats Mr Snowden up to these days?
I’m old enough to remember much of that same twaddle.
In the early 1960s and ’70s, we were presented with the apparition that all life on earth was on the verge of extinction due to pollution. Hollywood, of course, was only too willing to push this malarkey through documentaries, the occasional TV show, and, of course, shoddy movies.
Then came the phony-baloney oil “crisis” that started when the Yom Kippur War began. The sheeple were treated to a litany of end-of-oil, end-of-the-world scenarios presented by the aforementioned methods as well as all sorts of advertisements.
Once that failed to destroy us (largely because the so-called shortage was a manipulation of the markets by the Seven Sisters), there was acid rain. That scare at least had some scientific basis and I myself saw some of the effects of exhaust stack emissions. However, that problem faded into the background as exhaust gas scrubbers were installed.
Then came CFCs and the hole in the ozone layer. Again, once those chemicals which were believed to be the cause were replaced, it didn’t seem to be an urgent problem any more. Recently, I heard some speculation that the hole might actually have been a natural occurrence, but that the MSM kept quiet about that.
Now it’s “climate change”. Identical dung, alternate accumulation.
Some stuff is real, like “The Love Canal”, Agent Orange”, et al in being harmful.
Cleaning up auto exhaust and getting the “lead” out also good.
It’s the fringe-ball stuff, end-of-the-world, when the alarm bells/smell test registers.
And if it involves “OPM $$$” you know it is….
If this were a really big deal, why aren’t Gates/Buffett/Slim/KochBros/BilderBurghers divesting of carbon interest and donating $$BB to stopping it?
Yeah guessed so..
Wikipedia wikileaks huh, yup, godda be hard to see the key board with your head that far up your ass. Retract it a little and you can use your bellybutton as a peep hole to read
Steve McIntyre in the comments via WUWT
“…more “skeptics” are born from poor conduct by climate scientists than from the eloquence of earlier skeptics.”

There were indeed some legitimate environmental concerns like the ones you mentioned.
However, the government and media have used every such issue, however trivial, as a means of indoctrinating the public. But it often became hard to distinguish between those which were actually worth worrying about and those which were trivial and often absurd.
The latter were often due to an obscure report that led to extreme actions. For example, the artificial cyclamate was banned in the late 1960s because it apparently caused cancer in certain lab rodents. The only catch was that those same rodents or rats ate extreme amounts of the stuff, well above what humans would normally consume, before there was evidence that they became sick.
More recently, in the late 1980s or early ’90s, a study of some sort showed that oat bran reduced cholesterol. Food processing companies then bent over backwards putting it many of their products. Imagine soft drinks with oat bran as an ingredient. That’s how far it went.
That idea eventually faded away, though I can’t recall why. It could have been that a different study showed that it wasn’t such a good idea or maybe putting oat bran into everything affected the bottom line.
The reported Climate Scientist’s where asked the following Survey Question
“Is it more likely than not that man is responsible for Global warming”.. The 51 % threshold of civil Lawyers…
97% of those surveyed agreed it is possible… the 51% tipping point..What happened to the 3 %
If you asked the same question to a Bar full of Drunks your would get 100%.. They would all be Climate Scientists
You mean like when the California Air Quality Board MANDATED MTBE be mixed into CA gasoline ? To “clean the air” even further … and ended up POISONING the ground water ?
http://www.wnd.com/1997/07/3114/
Yeah … that’s when the eco-zealots go completely off the rails and endanger us all. Like forcing me to keep my house at 63 deg. because they allow PG+E to bill the fkuc out of ratepayers … to … dis-cour-age energy use.
I wish I was as old as I am now when the movie “The Day After” came out. Watching that as a kid almost gave me an ulcer. I was fricken worried for weeks.
Fortunately through that experience, I understand why government is quick to prey on our kids fear. I’m not suggesting that the nuclear threat wasn’t real, but nothing is better than filling your education system with fear based propaganda that in turn will be the cheapest form of government “endorsement”.
World governments should be held to account for trying, and succeeding in many ways of adulterating our children.
Destructive Global Warming, Climate Change, ect., is nothing more than an insidious tool for governments to fill their own pockets.
The Love Canal was a classic in government incompetence and media cover-up. Booker Chemicals had sealed a dumping area with impermeable clay over drums of toxic waste and donated the land to the municipality with a restrictive covenant that the property not be used for anything requiring excavation. The Town, in its wisdom, sold it off to developers without the knowledge of the covenant. While excavating services for the subdivision, they broke through the seal and contaminated the ground water. That part of the story almost never gets aired.
Worse yet, The Day After was a lousy movie. Threads and Testament, both produced at about the same time, were far better and didn’t insult the intelligence of the viewers.
The educational system uses similar tactics to imprint “right think” onto the students. I remember having to do a science report on pollution when I was in Grade 10. We were given all sorts of reference material from which we could draw in order to start writing. Looking back at that, I suspect the objective was that I was supposed to end up in a state of despair.
When we handed in our reports, the teacher asked if there was any hope. I was the only one in the class who answered “yes”.
So here is a question…..we all know that the U.N. sets its hair on fire about “climate change” and rising sea levels and on and on and on. So that being the case, why is then that the U.N. is spending billions of dollars to renovate their headquarters in Manhattan which is about 100 feet away from the East River and only a few feet above sea level rather than moving entirely to higher ground? I mean, after all, that “scientist”, James Hansen formerly of NASA opined that it should be flooding now. You can learn much more from the actions of somebody as opposed to their words.
I must be about the same age as you and “B Deplorable”, as I also remember all the same sky is falling issues of the 1960s. No point in repeating them. A few along the way such as acid rain were not so good issues to deal with. Scrubbers for coal fired power generating plants might also be a good thing.
One of my sons-in-law votes NDP and still believes there is “peak oil” and we will run any day now.
Joe King lol, you usually can not clue in a typical leftist.
Here’s a quote from a resident of ft Mac before the oil boom.
“I lived in Fort McMurray from 1963-1965, before big oil moved in. There was 1200 people living in the Waterways/Fort McMurray area. I can tell you at that time oil was seeping into the Athabasca river and we were told not to eat the fish from it, the Clearwater was ok.
You could tell where the oil sands were located as the trees were stunted, twisted and deformed, and there were tar pits that would trap animals. My sister and I laugh at the environmentalists when they say the oil companies are destroying the region, when in fact the oil companies are cleaning up natures oil spill and returning it to a pristine forest and lakes.
Though I would say that none of these environmentalists were born before the oil companies started to clean it up or even their parents likely never even heard of the oil sands region. When I lived in Fort Mac the only way you could get there was by air or train, there was no highway.
So instead of attacking the oil industry we should applaud them for cleaning up an oil spill from a million years ago… That’s the trouble with these so called green people, they only hear and shout out the propaganda they have been paid for, and know nothing of the past history… Can’t believe there is such a following of the chicken little’s.”
These companies were also a huge part in the rescue and housing of fleeing victims of the Fort Mac fires.
CO2 is all about distracting people from toxic pollution. Toxic pollution is very profitable, capturing it is expensive, and most people don’t want to pay more for clean energy. It’s easier to keep them distracted by the bubbles in beer and champagne so they don’t demand answers to inconvenient questions about toxic pollution, habitat destruction, species extinction, overpopulation…
This graph shows how 97% of the so called ‘climate scientists’ were so wrong.

How many other old farts like me remember the stories being told about Russian weather modification experiments suspected of being carried out in the 1950s?
Weather Control as a Cold War Weapon
I remember that, but I don’t remember who started that bunk. Now, instead of the Russians, we have actual snake oil salesmen trying to control the weather through taxes and shutting everything down.
I recall hearing those rumours while I was in high school nearly 50 years ago.
I remember who started that bunk. Anti-communism was a religion back then. Everything that might be bad was blamed on the communists.
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.” H. L. Mencken
Some things never change, the hobgoblins just get different names like ‘peak oil’, ‘global warming’, & ‘climate change’.
I got a kick out of that movie. Science fiction can be fun. The possibility of any of the disasters happening at any time, short of the planet getting knocked off it’s axis, is zero.
