  1. I note that their student union has banned a pro-life club. If they want safe space then stay home. Don’t step out into the real world where conflict is a constant and competition is part of the conflict. You make your own safe space or you sponge off the work of those who work, produce and compete in the world of conflict.

  2. Twenty years ago when I was an undergrad, Ryerson was a joke of a school. It clearly hasn’t improved any.

  3. Here was my modest offering. Who knows if it will get past the moderators…
“These students see the world as filled with traumatized victims and universities as giant therapy sessions where disagreeable views must not allowed to intrude lest the patients — ur, students — suffer a relapse.
The irony is that the vast majority of these students — of every gender, race, and sexual preference — are amongst the most historically privileged of people.
Petz is right; time to grow up.”

  4. when I was target shooting a lifetime ago, I described it as a zen-like experience; ‘projecting’ the bullet to the target.
the need for concentration and focus was the most relaxing thing I had found til then.
I think I did better than average for my experience level. one trick I used was the same as my photography, I learned to keep both eyes fully open BUT pay attention to only the view with the one lined up with the sights and down range to the target.
    lordy those magnum rounds roared.

  5. Thirty-five years ago when I was an undergrad, Ryerson was a Polytechnic that offered practical instruction from people who worked in the real world in business and technical trades. In competitive job hiring situations the Ryerson grads were hired first while the “elite” University Grads couldn’t find their a$$holes with both hands.
IMHO Ryerson changing its status to University was a mistake. The further University’s get from training people to do something or know something that can be applied in the real world the more all this “safe space” political crap takes over. You don’t see this crap In STEM programs or Community Colleges where people are working towards jobs and careers. As our host’s meme asks, “What’s the opposite of diversity?”

  6. Did this one, wonder if this is getting through
Be grateful for Dan Petz – life isnt always fair, so grow up and get your act together. SJW is about denying free speech, shutting opposing views down. Writing from South America I can only smile: the world isnt waiting for you, SJWs, and you will know soon.
Again: grow up, try to learn at least something beyond professional victimhood. With all your feelings re being a victim: you are not, you, SJWs, are amongst the most privilged persons on this planet. Get used to opposing opinions, learn to discuss and do something useful with your life.
    Best from Chile,
    Matt

  7. What does “For somebody like me, who is racialized and a woman … mean, for goodness sake? Are we not all racialized? Or do only (s)elect groups have the noble racial epithet applied to them as a permit to edit the world.

  8. I was going to leave this comment but didn’t think the moderators would allow it:
    Fcuk your feelings
    Crass but concise…..

  9. My comment never made it through moderation.
I simply asked “what is a safe space and why do we need them?”
I was hoping to get an answer from a pro safe spacer, but I guess that must have triggered some maturity regression and sent the moderator to their mother’s bosom.

  10. Made the comment, I won’t be hiring anybody from Ryerson, as obviously normal human interactions are above their standards.
    Comment moderated into oblivion.

  11. The Ryerson Rag has been infected by the same disease as the Ryerson brass – which I referred to as bedwetters…said comment has not been published.
Methinks Mr. Petz is a lonely guy.

  12. See if this gets through.
    Your comment is awaiting moderation.
“I contacted him through email, Facebook and Twitter…”
    Dylan,
Did you contact him, or attempt to contact him? There’s a big difference between those statements. A future journalist should strive to write accurately, lest you get lumped in with the current crop of mostly worthless journalists before you even graduate.

  13. The only people not allowed a safe space are white males.
    Heterosexual conservative white males.
if they are Christian they are even less allowed a safe space.
but females, gays, colored people, yes of course they deserve a safe space because we are all equal, right?

  14. Ryerson? that’s where Wendy Kookier is, right?? Why would you even bother?
I pledge to do everything in my power to make my environment a safe space from SJWs and others of their ilk. They can have their “safe spaces”…I don’t want ’em. Mine are where the money is made, and they’re also a lot more fun.

  15. Parents should check into the Colleges and universities before paying to send their children there. A vetting of it’s “Social Justice Warrior” policies and politically correct guidelines could be known.
If parents simply stopped sending their children to such anti-educational institutions that depend on public funding and high enrollment to survive.
They’ll react to a noticeable drop in enrollment.
Sending students to schools with such policies is a waste of parents money and the child’s time. They’ll graduate, yet being vocationally handicapped for years.

  16. What I said, “You want a safe space? Just die! They’ll bury you six feet under, you’ll be quite safe there. Until then suck it up. Morons!”
    Probably won’t get passed moderation.

  17. To their credit it seems they have posted many that take a bite out of their safe room door. A couple of weak defenders but it looks like with 85 postings,…it was a victory for basic common sense.
