  3. Do we really want to put the unions in charged. Stelmach and Redford bought labour peace and public service unions are paid much more than in the rest of Canada. If Notley wins, the unions own the keys to the treasury. The idiot Prentice passed a budget with a $ 5 billion deficit when everyone wanted less spending. Now the idiot voters are going to elect someone who has promised to increase taxes. Brian Jean better be ready to support Prentice to continue as premier should the NDP have a minority and the Liberals better give it some thought too. Having an anti-oil leader in an oil rich province isn’t going to work. Oil companies might want to give consideration to a move to Saskatchewan.

    A yoga teacher, university students, and an avid Hugo Chavez aficionado are likely to become Alberta’s newest Members of the Legislative Assembly if the NDP manages to cement its surging popularity on election day.
    “It’s a lot of union reps, and a lot of students. And I’m sure a lot of these people had no idea they were signing up potentially to be MLAs,” said Corey Hogan, director of engagement strategies with Hill and Knowlton.

On the slim chance that Notley becomes premier, it is a given that she will increase taxes, increase government bureaucracy and the size of public service unions, spend money on frivolous pet social projects, increase regulation and generally make life miserable for corporations and business in general. The word “prosperity” does not exist in the NDP dictionary. Fear, envy, loathing and hopelessness however appear prominently. Like the truck driver in the video points out …. not everybody can have a government job.
    I remain confident that Albertans possess enough common sense to totally reject Notley’s brand of stupidity and, once again, prove the pollsters to be about as accurate as the local weatherman.

  7. I actually hope the NDP are elected! It will look good on Alberta – I left over a year ago and am so happy I moved to Regina. Calgary, under Mayor Nenshi, is already an NDP fiefdom and Edmonton has always been more left than Calgary. What will the rest of Canada do once the cash cow of Alberta dries up and there are no more transfer payments? Perhaps they will actually have to balance the books and stop spending!

  8. I remain astonished to read that Albertans are even contemplating voting in an NDP government. Either the polls are totally incorrect, or some form of NDP regime may be elected tomorrow.All I can say again, is that votes actually matter and voting for frivolous reasons can have dire consequences.Ontarians know this sad reality and have learned the bitter consequences; in the mid 90s Bob Rae was elected and immediately moved to implement some of the wackier NDP ideas. Many of his MPPs had no legislative, business or even serious life experience, yet they had to supply the members of his cabinet.
    Recently Toronto and urban Ont chose to elect Kathleen Wynne an even more ideological extremist, even though Liberal regimes were rife with corruption and incompetence.
    Voting is a serious business, worth remembering.

  10. Notley is being elected in Alberta not the NDP. Nor is the NDP ideology being elected but trust in Notley’s sense of representing all Albertans. If Rachel understands this she will do well. If she does not and if she lets her crazies have too much control over policy then there will be trouble.
    I don’t expect most of you slack-jawed, snot-swallowing ideologues who are incapable of thinking for yourselves to get this but this is what is happening in Alberta.

  11. This is precisely one of the arguments used against Hudak last time out in Ont. Or alternately he was too conservative, looked “funny” had a bad haircut (and look who Ont ended up with) Any number of foolish reasons were posted as to why voters would stay at home, or vote for the Liberal/NDP alternatives. Albertans, vote for whoever you like but remember 4 years will seem like an eternity if a socialist regime gets their hands on the power controls, Just consider Ont’s experience.

  12. Good luck tomorrow,Albertans,and take it from an ex-Manitoban, now BC’er that lived under Dippers for three terms, if you think you’ve got it bad now,an NDP government will have you pining for the “good old days” of Prentice and even Redford.
    Ezra makes a big mistake in his video, says he’s sure the NDP support firearms ownership, and that NDP candidate Connolly is an anomaly. Not so,Ezra, contact the NFA,they’ll know the history of NDP machinations in several Provinces to take our guns away.
    The NDP is a socialist/pacifist Party, but once they achieve their goals, won’t be quite so reasonable with those they don’t like, and at the top of that list are hunters and gun owners.

  13. You may recall Bob Rae was a “moderate” socialist. How did that work out for Ontario because about 10% of the population changed their vote because they figured the NDP couldn’t eff things up any worse than the other two parties? And be careful what you wish for, it may come true just as it did for Dippers in Ontario the once.

  14. I laughed at the stupidity of Quebecers electing “place sitters” last federal election. I am now regretting my characterization of them as idiots because I fear we are going down the same path tomorrow. God help us! Even in my very rural constituency, the NDP are leading comfortably. I want to rid myself of the PCs, but this is craziness.

    Socialism is a degenerative mental decease of the population that gets too fat on free stuff, all the while thinking that it will last for ever.
    Socialists screw up everything they touch. They use sophistry and put down people that don’t agree. And lie and lie and lie. They depend on the ignorant population.
    In Europe socialism lasts longer because the free enterprise generated so much wealth. It will come to an end if they don’t change their philosophy.
    Need one to mention Venezuela, Cuba, former East Europe, Greece,………?

  16. Seems it’s a race to the bottom just about everywhere you go in this country. Oh well, maybe that’s best. Get it over with sooner rather than later. And in most cases a so-called Conservative government, because of yellowness, arrogance and plain stupidity, can take much of the credit for the plunge into the cess pool. Alberta had Redford and Prentice, Ontario had the pathetic Hudak, Tory and Eves.

  17. Anyone considering voting for the NDP tomorrow ought to keep in mind that we already have examples of what socialist rule looks like. There are places all over Alberta where everything is owned by the group. Want to see what socialism looks like? Visit a reserve.

  21. I wouldn’t worry. On my drive in I noticed that the Tory buses were already lined up and idling getting ready to drive all the seniors to the polls to vote for Peter Lougheed. Anecdotally, everyone I know (and a lot of them voted Wildrose last time) is voting Tory. I’ll go 20 NDP, Wildrose 10, Torys 57. I suspect I’m on the low side for the Torys….

  22. Some very good points made in these comments (with the exception of Iola who appears to be living in a fantasy world)so I really can’t add much more to the narrative but as a Saskatchewan resident, all my life, I from my heart I can give only one piece of advice.
    Albertans think very seriously before voting NDP, once the Left is in power they work their way into every aspect of life they are very hard to get rid of, their reservoir of stupid money wasting ideas in bottomless and they can never be trusted. As my provinces leading political pundit would put it the NDP’s ultimate aim is always mediority and the tax payer will always pay for that slide.

  23. If the NDP should win, it’ll be the quickest & shortest communist regime in history. Blink and they’re gone.
    They’d be in power just long enough for a much needed major economic correction. Then it’s turf out the deadbeats that have been filling Alberta’s “hot economy” for the last decade, and then stomp out the NDP thereafter with a grassroots Wildrose party.
    Not say’n I’ll vote NDP as that would be immoral – but – If they should win, there can be a serious case for making lemonade from lemons. As they say to good effect never let a good crisis go to waste.

  24. Looks like an NDP majority right now. As a Saskatchewan resident who works in the Alberta oil patch, I expect that my job is almost about to cease existing.

    As a Sask resident this should work out just fine for you. There will be plenty of oilfield jobs in Sask once oil prices climb back up and many Alberta companies shift operations to Sask.
