It’s not a perfect analogy because Native people have been here for 10,000 years and the Arabs arrived in Israel centuries after the Jews, but I often wonder how those who are sympathetic to Palestinians would feel if those Native people declared their right of recovery of their “ancestral lands” by e.g. machine-gunning teenagers in school, or blowing up discos and pizzerias full of young people, or kidnapping athletes, or firing rockets into residential neighbourhoods.
    I know what I’d do, and it involves guns. LOTS of guns.

Islam, a confident and opportunist pathology is in it for the long haul therefore the continuous theatre of Gaza/Palestine requires a caste of disposable innocent children to feed the EU and North American progressive market.   3. To the best of my knowledge, religious differences aside, both Arabs and Jews are “semitic” people.
    Also to the best of my knowledge, neither the Arab nor the Jew were the original inhabitants of the middle east/Mediterranean basin which throughout history suffered wave upon wave of invaders from the north and the south(Egypt). The Egyptians are an example of the original population and are still where they’ve been for at least 10,000 years. The Phoneticians are an example of semitic people who moved into the Mediterranean basin somewhere around 3000 BC.
    Argue my history all you want but my point is that “anti-semitic” means anti Jew and anti Arab alike.

  42. What’s interesting here is how divided the left is over this whole thing. Wednesday night, Dipper Urban Affairs Critic Matthew Kellway was on Solomon’s PnP. His entire spiel was absolute moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas. He refused to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization, insisted like Gerry Caplan tonight that Israel’s response was disproportionate (hence in the wrong), skated around any reference to UN agencies colluding (forced or otherwise) with Hamas, and like Gerry treated the whole thing as a numbers game. Israel’s killed more “innocent civilians”, hence it’s guilty.
    This obviously wasn’t going to wash, so Ian Capstick was on tonight with a much harder anti-Hamas line. But the lot of them were sticking to the line that whatever the case the current government policy was dead wrong, not working for ‘peace’, yadda, yadda.
    So the left in Canada has an issue, and it’s dividing them. And it’s obvious what it is. It’s evident to a blind and deaf chipmunk that Hamas is completely the cause of the latest outbreak, and their rejection of any ceasefire is making it tough for even the most diehard leftists to swallow.
    But it’s all about votes. The leftists know that the muslim vote in Canada is theirs for the picking. But to do that, they have to condemn Israel, support Hamas, all in grotesque violation of everything they claim to stand for. So they’re tying themselves in knots over trying to be supportive of muslim sensitivities while trying not to pi$$ off too many of their other voters.
    It’s a frequent irony of the left that it blames Harper for catering too much to the Base (that means you, SDA readers). But in this case, it’s the left blatantly scurrying for muslim votes in Canada prior to 2015. The left’s moral relativism is on full display, much like a female baboon spreading hindquarters, brightly painted, saying ‘Come and get me’.
