  1. To think we used to laugh and sneer at those offshore “universities” that sold you a degree “based on your life’s experiences”.
I wanted to get my PhD. in Philosophy, but they wanted $300 for basically what would become a conversation piece, so I put a Robert Bateman art book on my coffee table instead.
    No one has ever complained.

  2. There’s a couple of folks I know that have attended / graduated from the U of W, one from Madison, the other graduated from U of W at Eau Claire, to say they’re aghast at this is an understatement.
It takes what you’ve worked for, and diminishes it.

  3. Affirmative Action Limits Opportunities For Asian Americans
In “The Opportunity Cost of Admission Preferences at Elite Universities”, Thomas J. Espenshade and Chang Y Chung of Princeton Univ. state, “African-American applicants receive the equivalent of 230 extra SAT points (on a 1600-point scale), and being Hispanic is worth an additional 185 SAT points. Other things equal, recruited athletes gain an admission bonus worth 200 points, while the preference for legacy candidates is worth 160 points. Asian-American applicants face a loss equivalent to 50 SAT points. In another 2009 study of more than 9,000 students who applied to selective universities, Espenshade along with Alexandria Walton Radford found that “white students were three times more likely to be admitted than Asians with the same academic record”.

  4. People in physics tend to be diverse. Orientals out-perform whites a little, there are plenty of East Indians who
are prominent, Jews of course, Persians are well represented, the relatively few Arabs do well, and I’ve known
a couple of good black Africans. There are fewer women than men, but the women who do go into physics are
    good at it.
    Who’s missing?
    American blacks.

  5. Thus making the achievements and degrees of protected minorities everywhere even more suspect.

  6. Nature vs Nurture…
It has been my experience that some of the smartest people I have encountered were American blacks and some of the most absolute morons were Asian.
    This probably reflects insufficient sampling…
I am referring to the exceptional individuals…..the majority of these same elements reflect the very opposite.
IOW the Sharptons vastly outnumber the Sowells….that’s just the way it is……

  7. A college degree used to mean something and take you farther in the world, now it’s just a participation trophy handed out by liberal academia.

  8. Obama was so brilliant that revealing his grades would kill the incentive for mere mortals, which is why millions of dollars have been spent in keeping his academic records tightly sealed. He is smarter than the smartest person who ever lived!

  9. There’s a simple cure for this madness: diversity-based grading = diversity-based renumeration. Introduce that motion and the administration would drop the topic like a hot potatoe.

  10. Can there be anything MORE racist than, naturally assuming certain identifiable groups are so intellectually inferior the testing standard has to be relaxed for them so they can compete with the Caucasian majority?

  11. These mental midgets think that making things easier for the poorer students will
guarantee their success. Instead making things harder for the better students will guarantee THEIR success outside of university, where it matters.
