My riding was and still is Conservative.
At least whenever ANYBODY whines about any provincial taxes, payments, hydro, malfeasance, I can laugh right in their stupid faces. People don’t like being laughed at.
Too bad I won’t really be laughing but crying inside at the stupidity of the gimmee gimmee masses.

Kind of like your grandmother’s SPCA, the Ontario Hydro of today (in it’s reincarnated form)is not the same outfit I grew up with. Actually,working for Hydro goes back several generations in my family with my father, grandfather, uncles and even a sister and her husband working to keep the lights on. Many, many times my father would be called in the middle of the night and end up driving hours through darkened Northwestern Ontario in the dead of winter to restore power somewhere.
Now we are paying off some debt, paying for some politico’s buddy to generate some wind energy at multiple times the going rate, turning coal generators into inefficient biomass (read wood scraps) burners instead of efficient natural gas and supposed to love it.
The Ontario electorate figure they know best by backing the Lieberals so for most of them they get what they deserve but I pity the sane ones who have to live with the choice.If parents in their golden years unable to move were not an issue the wife and I would be out of here before this comment got posted.
btw, Instead of following my family’s footsteps, I enlisted in the Air Force.
30 years ago the company I worked for hired a millwright who had worked for Ontario hydro for several years. We could not understand why the PTB had hired him as we were in a slow period. After about 2 weeks this new idiot asked if it ever slowed down in the company, kinda tells you just how hard he worked at the hydro. Most hydro workers are a bunch of useless lazy unionized dickweeds.

There is no regard for an entrepreneur or any small business person In Ontario. As a family, we have recognized supplying fifteen to nineteen jobs for more than two decades makes you the person responsible for any misfortune a person gets themselves into.
In addition we must spend any spare personal time available documenting why these people are incapable of acting in a responsible manner. Plus there is no recognition of the effort in a global competitive market, to provide well above minimum wage employment, medical/insurance benefits.
Take a good look Ombudsman. The neglected surviving manufacturer is the point person right at the tipping point for non-taxpayer employment.
Come to the Balkans if you need to see where Ontario is well underway to becoming without the excuse of having a war as the reason for 30 % unemployment rates. The youth unemployment is higher. Do not believe the official figures. The populace do not.

Did you know that since regulations have changed, it costs more to have a gas well on your property than the gas is worth? Yep. Unless you’re an industrial grade gas company, it doesn’t pay. Safety, y’know. It’s for the children.
Why? So they can quietly frack the gas in Southern Ontario and keep it all, instead of having farmers get increased flow in their existing wells, some of which have been in place 75 years or more.

I read recently where they are going to burn biomass at a generating station in NW Ontario. Atikonan I think. The biomass is going to come from Norway? Huh? Ya mean they are outta trees up there in the bush?
