  1. I AM
Joseph (Joe) Molnar and I join hands with you in spirit, from here in the city of Woodstock, in the province of Ontario, in Canada!!

  2. Some gutsy people. Can’t imagine this happening in the UK now held in the thrall of Sharia law.

  3. My wife and I were on a seventeen day land tour in Europe at the end of July and early August. We traveled to Frankfurt three days early to go north to visit my 76 year old second cousin who immigrated with his mother and children to Germany in 1989. His school teacher father had been shot at a mass grave site near the city of Orenburg. Both his grandfathers and most of his uncles had died in labour camps in the 1930s.
He cried when we met and again when we parted. Kate mentioned his book, which I translated, listed earlier this year.
I feel pain for the people in this video clip as they will all have lost family members to the Moloch that Marxism is.
And many people here in North America do not realize that they will get the same if they persist in voting for the politicians that promise more free stuff and more government control over their lives.
Btw, the clip does not do justice to the beauty of the city of Tallin. The old part, some of which is shown near the end of the clip, is a perfect scene of medieval fairy tale castles.

  4. Yes,Ken, it’s a good education for young people to talk to those who actually lived under the communists in Europe. The picture isn’t pretty.
We here have too many fellow travellers in our government and education systems, spreading the myth of benign socialism. It may be at first, but under the facade there could lurk a Beria or Himmler. You never really know a person’s true personality until they have power.
A fellow I met spotted our drift toward socialism thirty years ago. He said that he’d left Eastern Europe to get away from communism, only to see it starting to take hold here. At the time,I thought he was an alarmist.
I was wrong. Young people today are fascinated by the utopian bullshit spread by the proponents of “social justice”.They haven’t a clue as to what lies behind it.

  5. Back ca. 1948 Stalin is alleged to have said that to destroy the West, the communists should take over the Western media and education systems. It looks like his subordinates took that as executive authority and appear to have succeeded. The Latvians and their neighbours have seen the results of communist oppression, we should take their message and turn back the tide.

  6. The media here in Canada is extremely left-wing — we are not talking so called liberals in the dictionary definition, but true marxist-leninists / maoists.
One just have to look at the CBC, the Toronto Red Star, even the Globe and Mail. Who would have thought 30 years ago that an editor to the Globe and Mail would move to Cuba and claim that Cuba is more free than Canada? D’ooohhhhhh
Disconcerting to me from somebody who came of age in the 70’s is how much the main stream media has become one unified voice (except for wildcards such as SUN Media) with a group think mentality. Part of the Soviet way of thinking is that if you do not think like the group think, you are un-Canadian. WTF? All communist regimes shut down all independent thinking media. Somehow we have Unions funding campaigns to block introduction of independent media to Cable TV because they promote a different line of thought and it works with the bureaucracy.
To add insult to injury, here in Toronto, OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto is extreme left wing and pushing out course curiculums promoting Che Guvera, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Mao Tse Tung, Stalin as really misunderstood leaders of the people and worthy of praise.
Draconian laws have been introduced using quasi-judicial systems that were designed to kill off free speach — Human Rights Commissions, Employment Equity Laws designed to eliminate the hiring by ability, but make hiring by race the preferred choice.
Governments like Dalton McGuinty’s Liberal government has flooded the province with so many regulations that kills off small to medium sized business and that one has to be a large corporation with a team of lawyers to even survive in a sea of red tape — it slows down innovation and development of the economy — sounds very Soviet. We saw how their economy had collapsed.
I have worked in a few large corporations lately and have been shocked at how many “five year plans” and “five month plans” I have seen implemented and how these corporations have become very bureaucratic much like Government bureaucracies. A major change to companies I had worked for in the 80’s.
The NCC a few years back had some Chretin/Martin appointed board members and a contracted “historian” (to evaluate the proposal from a historical perspective) who tried to block a monument to the Victims of Communism on NCC lands in Ottawa. One of the Board members was concerned that it may prove offensive to Communists — yes you read that correctly. To add insult to injury the historian was against the monument — turns out his PhD thesis was on how the RCMP discriminated against Communists in the post WW2 era. Well d’ohhh. Mitrokhin archives clearly show that the communist party of canada was receiving a steady stream of funding during the cold war to enhance communist ideology and to aid in spying. Even the Anti-Cruise missle network and many anti-nuclear groups received Soviet funding in the 80’s. One just has to look at the Gouzenko incident to see why communists were not trusted and were targeted — somehow I bet there are no course curriculums generated by OISE about Gouzenko.
Somehow the attrocities of Communist regimes are overlooked. Everybody knows about “fascists” NAZI Germany yet nobody seems to know about the Soviet instigated Holodomor in Ukraine, the Great Leap forward in China under Mao, the Cambodian massacre by the Khmer Rouge under Pol Pot, The Etiopian Famine was instigated by a Soviet-backed Marxists-Leninist regime trying to hold onto power and decimate their opponents, etc etc etc. The Black Book of Communism estimates that 100+ million people were killed under the auspicies of Communism during the 20th century though that is deemed to be underestimated after the archives of the KGB were briefly oppened up during the 1990’s. Putin has since locked them up.
Not a single communist has ever been held accountable for their crimes against humanity. It is time this changed. There are many that are living in China, Russia, Cambodia, and many other places in the world. Yet they are the greatest war criminals of all human history.
It is time this is exposed.

  7. Unguarded lefties mainly object to Stalin’s nationalism and traditional family values. The rest of it they’re often A-OK with. I’m talking about the elite lefties, not the pikers we get around here.

  8. As an aside.
during the Orange Revolution in Ukraine late 2004, I was running a major Ukrainian-Canadian internet site, I discovered that most of the hate e-mail I received was from people via google searches were connected to the Anti-Cruise Missle & anti-Nuclear campaigns of the 1980’s — that were funded by the KGB during Soviet era. Now were they true belivers or the funding continued after the fall of the Soviet Union? This seemed to indicate with the fall of the Soviet Union the connections to the west did not drop.
We will not discuss the major DoS (Denial of Service) of attacks came from gazprom servers which happen to be owned by Putin during the Orange Revolution.
Putin is the defacto owner of gazprom when he nationalized/turned over the assets to himself. Yeah democracy, yeah transparency. Ooops does not apply to putin.

  9. IMHO those are the honest ones and are true believers that haven’t been funded by anyone but themselves for ages. Speaking specifically about Winnipeg, it’s a tradition nearing 100 years old now. I’ve attended their protests as recently as during the last Bush administration when they were protesting to keep the 1972 ABM treaty. And the “they” were the University of Winnipeg usual suspects along with the Manitoba Communist party leader, his “domestic partner” and various lackeys. They are not a threat though, and I applaud their forthrightness.

  10. Well said Gerry.
Stalin’s people began working in our western educational and media institutions in the 1930s. The Cambridge Five were only the most visible public results. Guzenko (sp) warned us. By the early 1960s (as I have given examples here in the past) they were deep in our educational system, and now we are openly seeing the results.
Robert, that was great tourist promotional video of Tallinn, and not an exaggeration. The city is beautiful.
max, I watch the Manitoba federal elections results and there is always a significant communist vote in Winnipeg.

  11. Impressive and very touching. I had not known about the Baltic Way and I’m very happy to have the opportunity to learn about this.

  12. I suggest the tendency to see foreign boogiemen is a combination of cold war echoes and a reluctance to accept the reality of domestic leftist tradition. Foreign interlopers fan the flames but the fire remains ours. Again, speaking specifically about Winnipeg, this tradition goes back to (at least) the 1919 General Strike. Having said that, and having encountered my fair share of foreign leftist boogiemen in the flesh, we should be ejecting them on general principle instead of giving them tenure. Not that it matters much anyway. What are the chances of Canada getting a less leftist leader than Stephen Harper anytime soon ever? How much structural change is an elected government capable of achieving today?

  13. Most people believe the collapse of communism in Russia was a democratic movement of the people. The reality was that Reagan broke their economy. There was no vast abandonment of communism just a harsh readjustment to economic reality. IMO the Russians and Chinese have discovered that they can actually accomplish more by playing the economic and media savvy game to accomplish their political goals.
The left has controlled education and media for decades now. There are fewer and fewer serious questions being asked about their actions. Pretty soon there will be no generation left that knew anything different.

  14. CT, exactly, although, except for the fanatical communists, by and large the vast majority of Russians knew that the system was an abject failure. There were thousands of jokes about the failure of Marxism.
But, no doubt, they will get it right here.

  15. Ken, you may have already read the 1980’s book,”Intrepid’s Last Case”,by William Stevenson,if not, it might still be available from your library. You will find it very interesting.
It’s about Sir William Stephenson’s involvement in the Gouzenko case.Had it not been for Intrepid, the Canadian government would have handed Gouzenko back to the Russians,as Our Mac didn’t want to offend anyone.
Stalin declared war on capitalism as far back as 1920,and set about inserting agents into every capitalist Country on the planet. The Russian’s method was to subvert “useful idiots” rather than have their own agents do all the dirty work. Stalin bragged that all the German intelligence agents were German, but an agent reporting to Russia could be any nationality on the planet.
I had not realized the extent to which German and Russian intelligence worked together, nor the cooperation between the recently defeated Germans and the new USSR. The German general Staff covertly trained the new Russian military, in return the Russians supplied the German Army with weapons and components for their secret rebuilding.
Their intelligence agents worked together right up until Germany attacked Russia in 1941. Stalin was the better “Machiavelli” and planted agents throughout even the German intelligence service.
Soviet agents had spread into Europe,Britain,Canada, and the U.S.in significant numbers by the 1930’s, and most of them were never revealed. They infiltrated every power structure in our Countries, via useful idiots, including especially our intelligence services.
The protagonist of the book,Sir William, estimated in 1980,that Yuri Andropov ruled over a network of 2 million agents around the world reporting to the KGB. It’s clear that almost every activist group in Canada was at one time subverted by these guys, thus their familiar tactics.
I reread the book recently, and the rather chilling conclusion is that the “Manchurian candidate” theorists are not nearly as “crackpot” as we believe. The Soviet intelligence service has worked diligently since 1922 to place their agents in positions of power in our Countries, and their object was to attain positions as high as possible in the government.
They managed to infiltrate the British very successfully, using friendly persuasion, and blackmail. One of their favorite tactics to recruit was to get a target drunk, then shove him into bed with a young man and take lots of pictures, worked like a charm with the British intellectual classes.
So, take a young man who smokes a lot of dope, has the right skin color,is known to experiment sexually in his college days, and is at heart a Marxist already, no need to indoctrinate him.
It would have been easy to push such a person toward high political Office in America, and the Russians had eighty years experience doing just that.
It’s interesting to speculate on what could have happened.

  16. Like Rita I had no knowledge of the Baltic Way so thanks Kate for letting us know. I am someone who follows world events closely, mainly through our press and CBC and now I wonder whether the CBC and G and M did a story at the time. My suspicions are raised because the G and M refused to report about Global Warming and the emails a few years ago until the pressure was too strong.

  17. Thanks Don. I have read it and have it in my library. I know it sounds like a crackpot conspiracy story except for the fact that it actually happened. Early in the 1920s Stalin knew that the workers in western countries would not or could not take over the governments, so he set about subverting the west. Armand Hammer and Walter Duranty were not the only liberals duped by Uncle Joe and his kindly face.
You mention the KGB’s vast network of agents around the world. that would include Canada. In 1968 my father-in-law’s retired teacher cousin Peter and son Kolya came from Russia to visit family in Ontario and Alberta. They both were party members and wore their pins. The son supposedly was a civilian pilot, but when one of my wife’s uncles at a family introduced me, he introduced me as a reserve army officer, and the guy would not take his eyes off me the rest of the day. Later one evening, at 10:00 after I was off duty, two suits showed up and wanted to talk to me. They told me that they were following these guys and they had visited a communist in Stoney Creek and in the Kingston area.
While these guys were visiting farmer relatives in Alberta, the old guy, Peter, said he wanted to talk to one of the male cousins they were visiting without his son Kolya around, which they did out in a field. He said it was not good in Russia and not what it seemed.
Thirty-five years later, while writing family history books, I acquired a family photo of this Peter, his wife, his children and all his grandchildren. There was no Kolya in the photo. The old guy Peter had been used as a cover for Kolya to do his KGB work here.
I know it sounds crazy, but it is true.
Just as an aside, people like the occasional commenter we get here are a product of that infiltration.

  18. A good friend of mine had a father who was in the Defence Department establishment and knew many people who were in the RCMP security services — Trudeau senior was off the radar for two years but the CIA had seen him in Moscow. Considering he was first a NAZI and then a Communist later in the 1940’s does not bode well. He also was not allowed entry to the USA till he became PM — well why? Nobody has dug this up!
To add insult to injury — Pierre Elliot Trudeau went to China during the Great Leap Forward — defended Mao Tse Tung and enjoyed the hospitality of the Communist Government and then wrote stories that China was fine — in the middle of a 20 million death politically motivated famine to squash insurection. Can I say another Walter Duranty who camouflaged the Holodomor in Ukraine where 10 million Ukrainians were killed in an artificial generated famine of 1932-33.
Trudeau was another Duranty as a “journalist” who went to china and covered up the crimes against humanity of Mao Tse Tung.
He was never held up to this just as Walter Duranty never was held accountable.
Trudeau was never the great PM he was held up to be — he had an agenda and it was not good for Canada — our national debt is due to him — prior to him, the national debt did not occur except during war times
It was Trudeaus finance minister Chretien that started the perpetual national deficit.
We are still paying Trudeaus indescritions since the early 1970’s
As an aside –0 Trudeau Jr is the son of Pierre & Margaret Trudeau — well Margaret Trudeau is Bipolar — well that is a genetic desease — so does Justin have this — this is a fair question
I think we need an answer before the next election
