We’re not sure who’s paying for Pacelle’s tour—the book publisher or HSUS donors—but surely traveling to 100 cities is taking a toll on how effectively HSUS is run. It’s not like Pacelle is getting mobbed, at least judging by a couple of pictures of the event. And The Bond was immediately discounted 40 percent at Amazon and other e-tailers following its release.
In fact, HSUS’s original announcement was that Pacelle was only going on a 50-city book tour. At some point, the length doubled. So what’s the point? Is this really about promoting “the bond” between people and animals, or about Pacelle’s self-promotion?

“the bond” between people and animals, or about Pacelle’s self-promotion?
The latter of course. This is obviously not about cost efficiancy.
Everything about the HSUS is self promoting. In my opinion they are all a bunch of shysters.
The Humane society, like so many other time honored charities, has become infiltrated with culture warriors and used as a vehicle for injecting left wing control agendas into the social mainstream. In this instance the minions of the culture war are determined to break the traditional relationship between humans and animals and inject the dictates of the politically corrected state into this relationship. Cruelty to animals has long since been conquered with all the laws passed prohibiting animal cruelty in all its forms. The latest HSUS crusade is not about unjustified cruelty but to establish animals in law as entitled state wards with the state intervening in all human contact with animals. They won’t stop until you need a state vended permit to buy a steak or a puppy or commercial livestock which comes only from HSUS vetted vendors. A fantastic growth industry for big government.
Occam, just plunked The Humane Society of Canada into Google and up jumps “Protecting animals and The Earth” and a telephone number. Like the World Wildlife Fund, these high-profile fund-raising organizations have changed radically.
Im about to bond with an animal , turn its protein into my protein. nice ribeye on the barbeque.
And I thought it was all about the puppies…
