Now is the Time at SDA When We Juxtapose

Shining a Magnifying Glass onto the Lunacy of Politics in BC

“. . . I think what’s going on is that the NDP are afraid of the kooks that’ll join the race. I mean, there are a lot of kooks on the Left and, you know, we see it on the Internet everyday, we see it on the comment boards, and we’ve seen it in a microcosm in the Cannabis candidate. So I think they’re trying their best to ensure that these kinds of people don’t get into the race. But the downside is that there are all kinds of people on the Left who are potential recruits, and will be available to vote Green because they’ve been shut out of the system. They’ll want to vote anti-system. There’s a huge anti-system vote in this province and the NDP are not mobilizing those people.”

  1. On Friday, the Farnworth, BC NDP Leadership hopeful, called my house to ask my wife if they could sign her up as a member. They said they would “waive the normal $10 membership fee because they received a large donation to cover new members”.
What they did not say was who was unethically covering the cost of new memberships.

Perhaps someone in the know could weigh in on this. Is this legal in BC?

  3. The funny thing about the NDP is how they keep bouncing from milquetoast leader to radical leader. As the worm turns, they are due for a radical. I would love to see someone like Jim Sinclair assume the mantle, and make it clear to everyone who the real voice of the NDP is.
    The radical trade unions.
Those that backstabbed Carole James have no hope in hell of being trusted…ever. Jenny Kwan, stand up, Nick Symons, you too, Lori Popham, newbie MLA, take a number….and the favourites to replace James, are several of her loyalists, but policy wonks all of them. Never had a real job, from Fleming to Farnsworth, to Horgan.
It’s really telling when you look at the list of them and you see their accomplishments as ‘policy analyst’, Shop Steward, union activist, community organizer……..not a business person, in the bunch, save for the latte set (Comrade Gregor, and the aforementioned Popham).
And 35% of the electorate still buys their BS.
You could say one-third of BC residents are kooks indeed, and you wouldn’t be far off the mark.

  4. That’s good news. I was just thinking earlier today that it would be good for the Greens to steal more votes away from the other left of centre parties so that fewer of the lefties actually get enough votes to win their seats in parliament. I can’t see many capital C Conservative voters marking an X beside a Green candidate. Even is Dizzy May got a seat in parliament, it would be fun to watch her make a fool of herself and her groupies.

  5. I live in “enemy territory” as my neighbours’ lawns sprout NDP signs at each election. The rest of the time, they seem like sane and rational people. Mind you, a letter I wrote to the editor was, rather coincidentally, followed by both my vehicles being vandalized; maybe they’re just union executives. I returned to BC after ten years away and saw the devastation wrought the last time they were in power – whoever they pick will be a born loser.

  6. Let me get this straight. The BC NDP do not want a leader who actually reflects the mindset of their members, because their only chance of winning is by deceit. No mater since anyone voting NDP is guaranteed to get a whole bunch of left-wing kooks.

  7. BTW, nice batch of young marinating socialists there in that video, LOL….they haven’t had a chance to live in the real world yet, pay taxes, raise a family….so young, so idealistic, so….misguided

  8. Rick- Not that long ago, when the Sask NDP here were in their leadership search, there was a similar situation.
Seems a certain riding had a pisspotful of new member sign-ups, all with a common address, paid in cash, with almost identical signatures. Apparently, (now this is good for a laugh), ‘An Over Zealous’ membership recuiter was able to walk into a band office (I. Reserve- who would have guessed?) and avail himself to the complete band registry.
Naturally, the eventual victor was completely absolved of any complicity.

  9. Soccermom, you are so right.
Actually I am surprised that there are still kooks out there who are not already in the NDP, well, except maybe those that are in the Green Party.

  10. BC is full of kooks. All you have to remember is “fast ferries”, and you will NEVER vote NDP EEEE – – – VVVVV – – – EEEE – – – RRRRRRR!

  11. “….and make it clear to everyone who the real voice of the NDP is. The radical trade unions.”
Anyone familiar with B.C. pollitics will know the name Moe Sihota. Former NDP MLA and pit bull under Premier Glen Clark, he’s now the President of the B.C. NDP Party.
According to broadcaster Michael Smyth, he solicited and received annual payment of $72,000 for his ‘services’ from a number of unions – at least some of whom (if not all) would be public service unions.
You know who owns Moe, if not the whole NDP.
BTW, Mike Farnsworth – MLA and considered the front runner in the NDP race, has taken the position that it was a ‘party’ decision and thus he is not prepared to question Mr. Sihota’s ethics.

  12. This is a fight to the finish and the Unions intend to win it. They stand impotently watching the unions in the US making huge gains for themselves and they intend to get their share of the spoils.
They are behind the HST protests and the recall campaigns, twisting democracy for their own gain.
They flood the airwaves with media help and have callers call in exhibiting such a vitriol it is clear it is manufactured.
In all of this they intend to take down our democratic system, and believe me, what emerges will be nothing the BC citizen will like. NOTHING.
It will make the HST ( an actual tax decrease made evil and vilified by those who wish fervently to raise taxes to the max to fund their idealized ideas that have nothing to do with the well being of BC citizens. They are after the pocket book and once obtained will be drained dry.
Anyone who has lived in BC for any length of time knows this and will fight it to the finish.
With both paties in disarray, this is the Union’s chance and they intend to take it.
I just hope enough of us in BC recognize it and do what is necessary to stop it.
