Y2Kyoto: “Green Energy” And “Fraud”

Not just synonyms anymore!

67-year-old H. Max Speight, a disbarred Tennessee attorney, has been sentenced by a federal court and will serve a 26-month sentence for defrauding a federal biofuels subsidy program. Though his sentence may be considered harsh, Speight’s partner, William Tacker II, was convicted and sentenced to five years behind bars, plus a mandatory repayment of funds, which he collected by filing fraudulent claims with the federal government.

  1. Government grants, government programs, it’s like chumming the waters with money and not expecting sharks. My only thought is that neither of these crooks are connected to a politician or three. Well, at least not yet. I’ve never seen a government handout that didn’t have scammers, con artists and scum with their fingers in it.

  2. Open the subsidies amounts given to the windmill revenue suckers here in Canada and cut off the funding, then watch those bird blenders shut down. While they are at it lets see what Suzuker sucks out of the taxpayers pockets for his phoney money scamming ways. There is no more money for these SCAM artists, lets stop the insanity. Rather than tell the friends of the forest/greenpeace/pembina institute etc, to go to hell, our polititians suck up to these coagulations of losers who produce nothing. Has anyone ever seen any donations to any hospitals, parks, minor hockey teams community centers etc by the coagulations of greenies? I know not, donations and philantropy is made by people with MONEY not criticism. Time we told the greenies to go to hell, before our economies beat them there.

  3. meanwhile, all across Euroland, scammers, eco-grifters and of course organized crime are busy hooking up electric motors to their wind generators and focusing high power lights on their solar arrays.

  4. This guy was caught, but there are many companies and organizations that are smarter at defrauding “green” programs that don’t get caught. It is generally easy to outsmart the government, especially when the bureaucrats running the programs are spending other people’s money and have no real skin in the game themselves.
There is so much taxpayer money being thrown around right now for green that everyone and his uncle are at the trough, even university professors. Everyone has figured out the game.
Most if not all of the money being spent on green “investments” will in fact go down the toilet. Think of it as a giant welfare scheme.

Tennessee! Tennessee! It must be the Corn Mash…Einstein theorized that we would/could go back in time… Birth Control, Abortion, death penalty could then be used to eliminate that evil “Turd Merchant” ..GORE..

  6. Mafia cash in on lucrative EU wind farm handouts – especially in Sicily
“Nothing earns more than a wind farm,” said Edoardo Zanchini, an environmental campaigner who has investigated Mafia infiltration of the industry. “Anything that creates wealth interests the Mafia.”
Eight people were arrested in Operation “Eolo”, named after Aeolus, the ancient Greek god of winds, on charges of bribing officials in the coastal town of Mazara del Vallo with gifts of luxury cars and individual bribes of €30,000-70,000.

In another operation last November, codenamed “Gone With the Wind”, 15 people were arrested on suspicion of trying to embezzle up to €30 million in EU funds. Among those arrested on fraud charges was the president of Italy’s National Wind Energy Association, Oreste Vigorito. He has not been convictued of an offence and denies any wrongdoing.
Further afield, scandals have emerged in Spain, Romania, Bulgaria and Corsica, among others. In one alleged scam on the Canary Islands, a mayor, five officials and two developers are fighting criminal charges that include abuse of office, bribery and misappropriation of land in an attempt to secure EU subsidies…..

From the comments: Can’t gangsters be green? There are plenty of green gangsters in the United States. They’re called Democrats.
