  1. National Newswatch (yes, I still peek at it) has a screaming headline that says Stephane Dion has been hospitalized with severe food poisoning in dear old Mexico.
I don’t wish the man any harm, but when I read that he’s in Mexico City at a climate conference that is a “lead up to November’s climate change conference in Cancun”, I can’t help but think of Glenn Reynold’s line:
“I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who tell me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.”
Cripes Steffie, I only get to Mexico once a year.

BURNING KORANS WILL ACCELERATE GLOBAL WARMING
Wash DC — The Secretary of General Panic
    Jose Maria Watts-Myproblem today
warned that burning korans would “raise the
temperature of the earth by unpredictable
amounts” and he urged the Church of the
Living Freakout to abandon their plans
“to foster better attitudes towards energy
    conservation, recycling and gay rights.”
He also mentioned that it would create
105,000 jobs in Florida alone, and save the
U.S. treasury 1.4 trillion dollars in
    deferred military programs.
The leader of the controversial Church of the
Living Freakout told a reporter, “Man,
I am too wasted to care, burn baby burn.”
Five men in Middle Eastern garb milled about
in the parking lot fiddling with devices that
looked like radio transmitters. One of them
stated, “we are in touch with people who have
an interest in this sort of thing,” but
    refused to elaborate.
In other news, President Obama’s approval
rating has dropped to 21% among black urban
college professors. This indicates that he has
likely dropped to * range among the general
population. General Petraeus said, “I concur.”

    Fidel Castro, on the Jews:
“I don’t think anyone has been slandered more than the Jews. I would say much more than the Muslims. They have been slandered much more than the Muslims because they are blamed and slandered for everything. No one blames the Muslims for anything.”
“The Iranian government should understand that the Jews were expelled from their land, persecuted and mistreated all over the world, as the ones who killed God. In my judgment here’s what happened to them: Reverse selection. What’s reverse selection? Over 2,000 years they were subjected to terrible persecution and then to the pogroms. One might have assumed that they would have disappeared; I think their culture and religion kept them together as a nation.”
He continued: “The Jews have lived an existence that is much harder than ours. There is nothing that compares to the Holocaust.”

  4. Thanks Vit – I wanted to ensure that I attributed the info to whoever first posted it – I dimly recalled some postings of yours to the MIT site. I just wanted to ensure I gave credit where credit was due. Thanks for the links. I have enjoyed taking advantage of the info on this site. Thanks again for your lead – I thought it was you.

  5. Rawhide: Ah, yes, I remember it well! Frankie Lane was one of my aunt’s favourite singers. And, darn!, that Clint Eastwood was cute …
Watching the trailer through newly minted politically correct, multicultural eyes, I figure the gunslinging, hard-riding, hard-drinking, hard-womanzing white cowboys wouldn’t be given a pass by the CRTC. ‘Good thing we didn’t have it around in those days.
I miss the shoot ’em ups!
OTOH, I guess I could just head up to Jane and Finch on any given night to see a pc, multi-culti shoot up right in my own backyard for just the cost of a TTC ticket.
    How times have changed …

  6. My my, how did this thread go all the way from Frankie Lane singing Rawhide to celebrating Rosh Hashanah.
    Is Frankie Jewish ?

  7. Just to set the record straight, there is no particular thread on Reader’s Tips. The title itself speaks to that.
In addition, I am not Jewish but I am an avowed Zionist. I celebrate Jewish holidays as an expression of my respect for the Jewish people.
I also fly the Israeli flag, much to the consternation of a few of my neighbours.

  8. Interesting read on Castro. Consider he’s outlasted numerous presidents, he’s getting mellow in his old age.
Hopefully he will realize there is a God shortly.

  9. Kudos to Fidel for getting one thing right.
Anyone know the Muslim population in Cuba?
Guess he’s in no danger of having a fatwa issued on him.
Speaking of Jews, as some were:
Heard an interview with the author of a new biography on Bonhoeffer and it’s been added to the top of my Christmas wish list.
The author, Eric Metaxasm also wrote Amazing Grace, the story of Wilberforce and the campaign to end slavery.

  10. The Big Lies of the liberal-left have been outed by one man.
Bravo and kudos to Pastor Terry Jones!
    More, please.

  11. Gotcha Batb,
Ben said: ” I am not Jewish but I am an avowed Zionist. ”
Really ! So Ben, do you think that Iranian President Iamanutjob is a direct desendant from the Moabites, seeing as how he wants to wipe the Zionist off the face of the Earth ?
Just for perspective, I changed from Catholic to Roman Catholic in 1979. Now, they can’t roam far enuf to find me. I still believe the 10 Commandments are a dayyam good set of rules to live by, I just simply cannot give 15% of my income to organized religion so some fat lazy priest or preacher or deacon or rabbi or imam can lecture me about my evil ways, ;- ).
    ,

  12. I have no farking idea where Imadinnerjacket’s
decendents came from nor do I care. The Israelites and Moabites had a lot more in common than was generally perceived. The Iranian Idiot
hates the Jews for much more than religious reasons. Study the politics of the Region and you will see why. Abdul Gamal Nassar would be proud of him
Not being a particularly religious person Ratt, I can’t comment on the balance of your post.

  13. So, Ben’s not a Jew. No hay problema!
For SDA’s Jewish readers, during these High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah: “Shana Tova Umetukah!”
(And I’ll just leave Iamanutjob/Imadinnerjacket out of it.)

  14. “Never has there been so little diversity within America’s ruling class. We see the same views about good and evil, demons of the age, saints to adore… more»”
    The demon? Pastor Terry Jones.
Pastor Jones has broken the left-liberal chokehold on the MSM.
Pastor Jones has thrust a blade into the left-liberal beast; the writhing, the pain, the horror of it all.
Pastor Jones is a one-man TEA Party.
    Stand with Pastor Jones.

  15. Ratt: “I just simply cannot give 15% of my income to organized religion”
No, Ratt, you’re mixed up. Gratuity 15%, God 10% tithe. You can give 5 or 10 more, of course, but you’re not obligated to give anything. So, if you don’t want to tithe, don’t.
Just don’t brag about all your I do nots.
    Who cares, Ratt?

  16. Great article on marriage, Revnant Dream. Too bad a lot of people can’t think anymore; they might find the arguments a little over their head.

“Emmy-winning Actor and conservative Kelsey Grammer is lending his distinctly familiar voice in promoting RightNetwork, a new online and cable on-demand programming channel offering alternative programming with a decidedly right-of-center spin. ”We’re not out to vilify or accuse or identify anybody as an enemy,” Grammer has said. “We’re out there to encourage people to open their minds and take a look at some things that we as a group of people believe is the right direction for the country.”
    He adds:
“We’re middle-of-the road people who have a fairly conservative approach to government, that’s all. Less government,” Grammer says. “It’s not some insidious group of people who are plotting some horrible takeover.”

  18. Gellen said; “No, Ratt, you’re mixed up. Gratuity 15%, God 10% tithe.”
I think that’s my point Gellen, God won’t get the tithe.
Sorry I ruffled your feathers Ben.
