I have an idea. Why not build a really big boat?
Rapid climate change is forcing scientists to consider for the first time whether to help wildlife relocate to places where they are not currently found, says a group of international researchers who have created a tool for evaluating such relocations.
The world is being run by crazy people.
h/t Oz.

Ugh. I’ve got to stop clicking links to CBC that have anything to do with AGW.
there is no byline, does that mean this is too stupid to attribute?
or is the CBC so impartial, they’re no longer necessary?
at least they didn’t mention the rabbits and infamous toads in Oz…
Following Noah’s lead, we only need two of everything (unless same-sex pairing is involved). Mind you, the polar bears will easily polish off a couple of seals so we may need some spares.
Maybe the worm is starting to turn.
Uncle Als going to be POd.
Via Drudge, a new ABC show mocking greenies.
I bet it doesn’t make two episodes.

“Goode” lampoons a liberal Midwestern household. In “Goode,” the characters are often mocked for being green just to fit in with their friends and neighbors. They are a perfect target for the 46-year-old Mr. Judge and his two longtime co-writers, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, who have made careers out of finding humor in the follies and pretensions of everyday people.
DaveCF,
The “food animals” were actually collected in 7s not just 2s if I recollect my Bible teachings.
Thank you for my first ever hat tip anywhere, Kate. Your blog rocks. It’s a privilege.
Two By two – yup. By crazies – that also.
For proof, see the comments following the CBC link.
They are arguing the merits of religion WRT GW.
Actually, I have said that all along – AGW is just another religion. He believes that, I believe this. Those bow, these bow. No proof there, no proof here. Taxes here, collection plate there.
Beliefs – they always lead to a stalemate ! The best kind of controversy. Cannot be proven either way – at least initially. The MSM’s perpetual motion.

For those who may have dismissed the notion of a UN Agenda for a New World Religion used to usher in sweeping anti-constitutional environmental agreements, I offer the following.

Lord Moncton was on Roy Green show last evening. He said GW is all bunk and I think he used the F word (Fraud).
He has a video he said can be found here: scienceandpublicpolicy.org

Look, global warming (sic) was fine before the economy tanked – now it is just a silly historical diversion
Let’s all move on, shall we?
Stupid greenies.
Really, let’s just work to a voluntary “use less” policy – and if people don’t bite – too bad, so sad.
How about relocating cane toads to Australia?
I thought that relocating species was considered eco-terrorisim. Y’know, they end up displacing the indiginous species already there because of a lack of preditors and such.

Not necessarily…it depends on your motives.
Your heart has to be in the right place.
I vote we relocate the Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes to Iran and the Wolverines to North Korea while the Grizzly Bears would probably get along nicely with the Pandas in the Peoples Republic of China and the Timber Wolves and Cougars would make out like bandits in Venezuela.
Now where to put the Skunks…?
And the Law Of Unintended Consequences™ is invoked in three…..two…..one…..
Put the loony left on the damn boat.
Coal-fired boilers and a lump of coal for each one of those nimrods.
Rip off the rudder too. They spend life without meaningful direction anyway…
These are free samples, right? Do they come with recipes?
Speaking of crazy people, I understand that Obama’s Regime wants us to paint our roofs white to save the world…

What an interesting question :>)
I nominate those prissy animal-hugging Euros.
I Noah Moses and Big Al’s Noah Moses.
But seriously folks if this is for the good of Gaia, I volunteer to work on a rescue yacht travelling to the imperiled islands of the South Pacific, the Maldives etc.
Don’t count me in for Bangladesh; I just couldn’t do a proper job without bacon for breakfast.
I wouldn’t say the world is run by crazy people.
IMHO, a large number of crazy people should produce decisions that, when aggregated, obey the law of large numbers (since they make so many decisions). This means that the statistical distribution of these decisions (if mapped to good or bad results) should be zero-mean Gaussian. Or in other words, they should make as many good decisions as bad decisions.
Do to the strong bias present in a lot of these decisions, this does not suggest randomness. Thus, craziness should be discounted.
Rather, it appears to me that delusional is a more apt description of the decisions made. Delusions of grandeur, omniscience, entitlement, etc, etc..
Basically, we have a bunch of deluded, yet driven, egotistical idiots running the show. We literally would probably do much better just by putting monkeys in charge.
typo – “Due” not “Do”
skunks. do they not reside in the many parlimentary offices around canada and the world.
…There were green alligators, and long-necked geese, some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees, some cats and rats and elephansts, but sure as you’re born, the loveliest of all was the unicorn…
~~favill~~
I am all for relocating the Mosquitoes… At least until the summer is over.
For a history of successful species relocation see below…

Who can argue with a record like that?
No doubt brought to you by the same folks who built Biosphere 2 … funny you don’t hear much about it’s total failure lately.
http://biology.kenyon.edu/slonc/bio3/2000projects/carroll_d_walker_e/whatwentwrong.html
… but moving on … now it is time to build a modern Noah’s ark patterned on magnificent success of Biosphere 2.
Research grant parasites.
Um, isn’t there a reason why those animals aren’t found there?
Let’s relocate polar bears into Stornoway, whales to North Dakota, and scorpions to Toronto.
Anyone who thinks this is a good idea may also consider refereeing the Shark vs. Grizzly bout.
Any self-respecting scorpion finding itself in Toronto would relotate itself somewhere else – at very least to Etobicoke.

Frenchie77,
This all comes down to Management 101.. In the world of stupid decisions incompetence raises its ugly head.
When decisions are made (at higher levels) that have a negative impact ones area of responsibility a manager must never sit on his hands. When in that meeting with your boss & his bosses you have ~45 sec to make your best case before a non-reversal decision is made. You cannot change (post mortem) any decision that you had an opportunity to influence without getting fired for incompetence.
We have to many silent monkeys, sitting on thier hands, in the scientific & legal community
As usual the CBC just pontificates declarations of faith….false assumptions….such as the debate is over…..
The very best solution to a non-existant problem is to do nothing……
Christopher Moncton
In light of the rapidly cooling climate (last year had the single biggest one year drop in global temperature on recored) I support the plan to relocate animals to warmer climes.
However a giant sled might be more appropos.
I think we should start selling vacation homes on Baffin Island to leftards.
We could market it as waterfront property – currently in cold-storage.
Most species survived the last ice age without a group of lefty enviromentalists guiding them.
Y2Kyoto: Two By Two
A 2×4 would pack more wallop. Oh, what’s that – you’re not talking about whacking them upside the head? Never mind.
Well, Jason. Europeans didn’t mind Baffin Island once upon a time.

[Even if it was during the Medieval Warm Period and ended with the global cooling of the Little Ice Age.]
Neo-paganism is so totally non-progressive.
Steven Chu is using the “paint all the roofs white to stop global warming” shtick again.
Its like they want people to think they are stupid.
Frenchie 77 nails it !!
“Basically, we have a bunch of deluded, yet driven, egotistical idiots running the show. We literally would probably do much better just by putting monkeys in charge.”
But why are they so DRIVEN !? To the point of being childish, even ?
Hey, what is their alternative to the gov’t teat ? They are desperate. Where else could they make a living, complete with cushy pension plan ?
Reading some of the comments on the article there it’s hard to decide who’s crazier, the “journalist” who wrote this tripe, or the radical ecofascists commenting afterwards.
Tell me again why sterilization is a bad idea? There’s got to be a way to breed this maniacal hubris out of our populace.
“I wouldn’t say the world is run by crazy people.”
I wouldn’t say so either.
I wouldn’t say it being “run” at all.
There are people who think they are running things, and there are people who think other people are running things, but, in the end, what happens just happens … much to everyone’s surprise.
Therein lies the hope of mankind.
Are these the same people, or type of people that want to cover the Sahara Desert with a reflecting thermal blanket to offset Global warming?
If they DO go ahead with this idea, may I respectfully request they relocate Cape Buffalo to B.C.
It would make hunting a lot more exciting.
Meanwhile, The Gore Crowd prostitutes itself in more ways than one.

How about relocating “Greenies” to places like Africa’s Sudan, Afganistan, or any other under developed 3rd world nation that will suffer from not being able to develope their natural resources like the first world nations that are singing the praises of AGW… as for relocating animals which was the point of the article to begin with … “DON’T SCREW WITH MOTHER NATURE” didn’t you idiots learn anything from all the other historical screw ups of introducing animals to enviroments they don’t naturally exist in to begin with…
“The world is being run by crazy people.”
No argument there Kate, but as I witness the free world in total meltdown; it’s systematic economic destruction being the main driver of my concerns, I am saddened by the fact that when my wife and I make our planned move to escape the crashing civilisation by finally moving away to our little piece of land up north, we are entering this stupid cooling phase.
The last 2 decades of natural warming period have been a boon for all of us Canucks and most of the world for that matter. Now that humanoid life is about to get a lot tougher (Think Great Depression x 5 + WWIII) on this planet, coincidently, another cooling period is kicking in too.
Should we just party our brains and livers and eventually our lives off compressed in the next 5 years or so by burning our nest egg full tilt before it ends up in some Government or investment gone sour bank coffer somewhere?
Or should we just try and grow potatoes and carrots in frozen soil overlooked by mostly cloddy skies for the next 20 years?
Canada’s a great country to live in when we have prosperity…And warmer weather.
Going south when Sodom and Gomorrah is burning ain’t that great an option either.
That “party” is sounding better by the minute! 😉

Bob,
Steven Chu is speaking to the Carbon Market…
SEE! We have no solutions to threaten the Market & he intends to keep it that way. He is a warm & cuddly turd.
AGW is not the main goal of these vermin. If you do a quick read on the three levels of simple Project Management, although this is a very sophisticated project, and plug in the obvious data you have a Picture that looks like this
MISSON Statement: “To connect Co2 to Climate” such that carbon becomes a commodity
The process’s used to accomplish this Task (make up the Cloud of the Unknown) are AGW/ Global Cooling/ and anything that will avoid PROOF …The role of AL to manipulate public opinion, the Stank’s need for California Cash and every other politician on the take
The Management level; meant to verify the Mission Statement compliance. This coordinates the process such that time lines & manpower allocations are meet… Stomp out fires. They are the paymasters & scum masters
It all comes to a stop when a Class Action lawsuit is filed and the EPA “MUST” prove its Science. IMHO the science was never meant to exist
What is not to understand? The reasons “why” are more complicated and are above my pay group
“Tell me again why sterilization is a bad idea?”
Blame externalization.
Mao Stlong (Hi. I’m the Canadian uncle of Canadian Riberal Boob Lae) say, O’s Chu not a clazy people.
Chu goody, goody on Gleat White Conspilacy.

BTW: The Carbon Guys are winning… all the dialog is over the science of AGW, the connection of Carbon to Climate seems to be conceded… It will Stick unless its challenged
Isn’t the “paint all the roofs white to stop global warming” a clear admission that there really is something to the Urban Heat Island Effect and if so, since the surface measurements are so skewed by the UHI Effect, that there really isn’t any Global warming?
