That means that the things you and I take for granted in our stores are not available.

The Palestinians have a lot of reason to be upset and those reasons are largely of their own making.
A culture that teaches it’s children to hate above all things has a good reason to be miserable. They do that well.
You may be aware that in the Jewish culture a fetus is not a fully formed human until it receives it’s law degree or is an accredited physician, scientist, accountant or takes over and improves on the family business etc.
Even if the Muslims were successful and took over the world, they would all be at each other’s throats. That is their culture. The wealthier members of their society would have several wives while many other men would never have one. Let that be a warning to farm animals.
The Arab world has made no progress in centuries because they are a stunted culture. There is no progress allowed and new ideas can be a death sentence. They are not a charitable bunch either. You don’t see them rushing out to help others in times of need. The recent Tsunami is a good example the recent devastating earthquakes in Iran and Turkey are examples as well. It is the West that does the lifting in those cases.
The only thing worse than being a Muslim man is being a Muslim woman.
No one can blame the Palestinians for going on a shopping spree, but don’t try and feed us the bull that they are starving and buying rugs, cigarettes, etc. Starving people buy food – stuff you can eat and drink. And yes, you can be living in poverty and buy a rug, but if you are starving, you are not going to be buying a rug.
If I was starving and had money to spend, I’d be coming back across that border with as much food as I could carry. I’d buy a rug just so I could put as much food on it as possible, and drag it all the way home. And I’d be smiling all the way home.

I do not normally post on this blog (although I enjoy it very much, thanks, Kate) but I would like to raise a point that is being missed by all the pro- and con commentators regarding Gazan starvation.
1) People who are starving have low energy levels. This is proven by something called science, which used to be popular. People with low energy levels do not carry 40 pound carpets if they are tired and weak. They would carry food, if they could find any.
2) We have seen, over the last thirty years, horrible images of impoverished and starving Africans rushing aid stations for relief and lugging off bags of rice and wheat and so on. I do not recall, in all those years, and all those pictures, people who were starving carrying off consumer products, stealing the seat covers on the aid trucks, the steering wheel, the chairs and table outside, etc, etc. Starving people focus on what is important. Food.
