The “W” Word

No one knows why.

Despite her record-breaking college success at Iowa, and the impressive start to her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever, The Athletic claims Clark will not be heading to Paris with Team USA for this summer’s Olympics.

The 22-year-old is bringing more attention to women’s basketball than ever before, with her highly-anticipated debut breaking ESPN viewership records last month.

Nevertheless, it is believed there is no room for her in USA’s Olympic team, which has left Portnoy incensed.

The Barstool Sports chief said in an explosive video rant on X: ‘This is about Caitlin Clark being left off the Olympic team… how dumb are these women?

Why indeed?

It was the height of audacity and hypocrisy for Mayor Plante to tweet yesterday that the images from Rafah were, “extremely troubling and shocking” and that, “Montreal, a metropolis of peace, joins its voice to those who are calling for a ceasefire and respect for international law.” […]

Why Mayor Plante have you never expressed shock at Hamas’ treatment of its own people? Why Mayor Plante have you never condemned the Hamas leaders for the slaughter of Israelis on Oct.7th?

Why Mayor Plante have you never demanded that Hamas release the hostages? Why Mayor Plante have you never demanded that Hamas – a recognized terrorist organization in this country – themselves cease fire and lay down its arms? And why Mayor Plante are you complicit in condemning Israel which is engaged in a war of self defense against an organization that was the official government of a political jurisdiction that breached international law by invading Israel while you have been silent on Syria’s President Al-Assad who has slaughtered over 300,000 of his own people?

The answer to these whys is that Montreal’s Mayor is pandering for radical Islamist votes. Radical Islamists who by their own creed would replace her with an Imam rather than be governed by a woman. She is jeopardizing the safety and security of all Montrealers by giving license to the mobs that clog our streets, assault our citizens, disrupt commerce and movement and practice intimidation with blood-curdling screams calling for the extinction of Israel and the eradication of Jews.

National Post- Radical Islam’s western fangirls

It seems Hamas knew their female audience, too. One of the striking features about Hamas’s useful-idiot entourage is the robust support it enjoys from progressive women, in glaring contrast to the robust revulsion that should have prevailed among feminists.

Some women have publicly denied the vicious sexual torture inflicted on Israeli women, or shrugged it off as a sidebar to the sacred mission of “resistance.” This, they parrot, may entail “any means necessary,” including the degradation of women for no purpose other than malicious male pleasure. Evidence of western women’s indifference to Israeli women’s victimhood can be found in the fact that UN Women waited for months after the pogrom before condemning the rapes or Hamas.

We’d still live in caves but with really fancy, torn curtains.

As part of the retreat, Banducci held a rage ritual: a ceremony in which participants scream and beat large sticks on the ground in the woods. Participants are encouraged to think of people and experiences that have wronged them and to scream and swing the sticks for at least 20 minutes, or until they can no longer move their arms.

Rage rituals have garnered attention on TikTok, where they’ve resonated, particularly with women.

Spectator- Do many women want to be train drivers?

Personally, I had expected this diversity obsession to remain fixed on high-status professions. Because it was noticeable that, for example, while the vast preponderance of road-layers who mix the tarmac to sometimes fill in the nation’s potholes are men, there is yet to be an outcry along the lines of ‘none of us are free until women are made to lay more tarmac’. Now it seems that the age is indeed even madder than I thought.

Ground Zero for Jew-hatred in America.

Use the wrong pronoun or wear a sombrero on Cinco de Mayo, and your university will consider bringing out the firehoses and German shepherds; but assault Jewish students and call for their extermination (along with the eradication of a sovereign nation), and the same university will defend your actions as representing the sacred right to free and open speech. Antisemitism has spread like ebola across American Academia. But there are at least three good reasons to single out Columbia.

The President of Columbia University has only has 1 well-cited publication in her life, in Oxford Econ Papers 1994. This paper is lifted almost entirely from a 1992 report coauthored with consultant not credited in the publication. This is wholesale intellectual theft, not subtle plagiarism.

Globe and Mail- Sophie Grégoire Trudeau embraces uncertainty in new memoir, Closer Together

“My truth is that I’m reaching out to you, in my late 40s, as a mother of three, a woman, a friend, a partner, a sister, and a trustworthy, vulnerable and courageous ally,” she writes in the introduction. “I want us to take steps and risks together, on our parallel path, so we can find our light-filled purpose.”

Quotations from Chairman Maher;

Katherine Maher has a golden résumé, with stints and affiliations at UNICEF, the Atlantic Council, the World Economic Forum, the State Department, Stanford University, and the Council on Foreign Relations. She was chief executive officer and executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation. And, as of last month, she is CEO of National Public Radio. […]

What you notice first about Maher’s public speech are the buzzwords and phrases: “structural privilege,” “epistemic emergency,” “transit justice,” “non-binary people,” “late-stage capitalism,” “cis white mobility privilege,” “the politics of representation,” “folx.” She supported Black Lives Matter from its earliest days. She compares driving cars with smoking cigarettes. She is very concerned about “toxic masculinity.”

On every topic, Maher adopts the fashionable language of left-wing academic theory and uses it as social currency, even when her efforts veer into self-parody. She never explains, never provides new interpretation—she just repeats the phrases, in search of affirmation and, when the time is right, a promotion.

Maher understands the game: America’s elite institutions reward loyalty to the narrative. Those who repeat the words move up; those who don’t move out.

Let her explain more clearly: “Our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.”

CTV News;

“I think this is likely to be the worst budget since the [then-finance minister Allan] MacEachen budget of 1982, in the sense of pointing us in the wrong direction as to how we go about raising the incomes of Canadians and actually making Canadians feel better over the medium term,” Dodge said in an interview on CTV News Channel’s Power Play with Vassy Kapelos.

In a time of high interest rates and inflation, the 1982-83 federal budget, under then-prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, became the object of political fury over spending, taxation, and wage restraint measures within it.

Dodge, who was governor from 2001 to 2008, was referencing the strong indications that in order to help finance the nearly $40 billion in pre-announced new spending without raising the deficit, the federal government may impose some form of individual wealth tax or excess profit tax on wealthy corporations.

Freeland will present the budget in the House of Commons on Tuesday afternoon, vowing a plan centred on “generational fairness.”
