Authoritarianism, always latent in progressivism, is becoming explicit.

Progressivism is already enforced on campuses by restrictions on speech that might produce what progressives consider retrograde intellectual diversity. Now, from the so-called party of science, a.k.a. Democrats, comes a campaign to criminalize debate about science.

The first number of comments to George Will’s piece support the suppression of free speech and dissent as well as any opposition to progressive thinking and action.
And we thought Stalinism was dead. We are deluded as it is alive and well.

And, the same dolts are in total denial as well, as they support totalitarianism, but deny its existence, despite being detailed and explained.
When the US crashes, its going to be SPECTACULAR!

Not only alive and well,Ken, but they seem to be winning on every front,academia,media,entertainment,politicians of all stripes are buying into “climate change”,even the new PC hero of Ontario,Patrick Brown touts climate change.
Stalin must be quaffing copious amounts of vodka in Hell with his buddies, as they toast their victory over the West.It took a couple of generations, but they’ve landed on the beaches and victory looks inevitable at this point.

The desperately power mad never get this, they desire to control all and every aspect of others lives..never comprehending the pit of tedium and minutia they are falling into.
Absolute power over all,warms many a small natured humans dreams, missing the horror show of living amongst people who lack initiative, ambition and humour.
Sure you can manipulate other people,control their choices and retain the exclusive (legal) use of force..
But why would you want to?
Such frightened fools are dangerous and should be outed regularly.
CAGW is a perfect example of allowing the fools and bandits just enough freedom and security for them to self identify as gullible fools and greedy parasites.

Obama’s election was a signal to progressives that it was safe to crawl out of the woodwork into the clear light of day. Many obliged, and their totalitarianism, no longer hidden, is on full display in all its horrors. It’s his legacy, whether he likes it or not.

Don, more than a little Atlas Shrugged. Totally agree that progressives are winning on all fronts. The march will not change until the inevitable fiscal collapse happens.

The fiscal collapse that you think may be the end of the progressive agenda is actually on the agenda. It used to be that a nation defaulting on its debt was an act of war, in the 19th century a Columbian port suffered a shelling by European ships and the French invaded Mexico for debt defaults. Progressive governments intend to use the debt-induced collapse as an excuse to submit to global government.

Suing Big Oil for opposing AGW Carbon Taxes, nonsense!… What stupid fool, besides George Will, does not Know that Big Oil loves higher prices & funds the Environmentalists who push for higher prices. Two points that Will presented are obviously made up stuff, that those that went to school for a long time claim that they are so. Is change necessarily ominous because today’s climate is necessarily optimum?
The global warmmongers can’t answer that so they just omit the question as though running their fingers over their lips to go brm, brm, brm.

The great political myth is that politics is divided into right and left with each of the two sides claiming they are good and the other is evil. In my opinion the important division is between those who want more personal and economic freedom and those who want less freedom. Progressives only wanted freedom of speech and thought when that worked in their favour (60s-mid 80s). Now that they have power they want to remove those liberties for everyone else. Freedom of speech was a means to an end not a firm commitment to ideals or rights.

Kind of ironic that no one is standing up for the rights of those who see vaccination in the same light as global warming…the science really is not settled…but it is oh so profitable for those on the inside track.
I am in the unenviable position of arguing against vaccine science with this crowd and against AGW with the progressive anti vax crowd.
After a decade of careful study I can assure all that both sides work for the same c**k suckers on Wall St./City of London/UN…whether they know it or not.

Exactly, and well said. No doubt you will recall the story I tell about the experiences my teacher friend and step-brother had with communists in their classes in teacher’s college at respectively McMaster, Hamilton, and University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon in the late 1950s.
Always remember, a socialist works 24/7 to advance the cause of Marx, while the free enterpriser takes time to make a good living and play with mama and the kids.

Except that the science *is* settled – at least in terms of the dangers of vaccination. The person responsible for that hoax was exposed as a fraud, yet his fraudulent research is still used as proof of the dangers of vaccination. Superstition is still alive and well in the human condition.
