Not to seem sympathetic to her, but i kinda don’t mind the idea of the left becoming pre-occupied with video games. I loved video games as a kid, now i’m an adult and don’t play them anymore. Anyone who wants to argue over toys is, definitionally, engaging in childishness. I say, let’s keep her distracted with the flashy lights as long as possible.
Y’know, the video games have been getting more violent since pac-man opened his gaping jaws. Now that I think of it,”pong” was inherently violent as each player ponged the pixel into the other guy’s court.
Next came “space invaders” then “River Raid” and the violence escalated, and gentle people like the nutcase in the article became more upset until we have today’s moral crusaders,trying to stamp out violence in video games,which is akin to stamping out sex in whorehouses.
Why is it serial killers never choose Social Justice Warriors and others of their ilk as victims?

I am waiting for the SJW’s to ban my virtual Ferraris and virtual Lambos with massive virtual carbon footprints and then I expect they’ll legislate only low virtual emission virtual electric cars in my virtual racing games.
I don’t much like the current level of violence in video games either – nor tabletop games in general – so I just don’t play the ones that are violent, nor do I play games with people who like that level of violence.
The right is going to have to decide what rules it wants the left to play by. The right keeps claiming that what it wants is the left to compete for hearts and minds in the marketplace of ideas, but when that happens, the right whines because the left turns out to be good at it.
Anita Sarkeesian doesn’t like video games. This isn’t news. But at no point has she advocated the use of the government’s monopoly on the use of force to keep games she doesn’t like (i.e. all of them) from being published.
Not that any of this matters. The AAA, big-budget video game market is in decline. Mobile and subscription based gaming is where the money is, and there’s no sign they’re in any way affected by all this SJW tripe (TL;DR: SJWs are parasitic, and can only have an impact on weak industries).
But… It’s for YOUR OWN GOOD!
Actually Danielle – our problem with the political left is that they don’t play by rules at all. If they could be convinced to do so, I would be happy if common sense were the foundation for those rules.
If you don’t like those video games…don’t play them. It’s that simple. If you want to play games that are trans-gender friendly, design and market them yourself.
Let’s be honest about Gamergate too – they set the feminists, the censors, the politically correct social justice warriors on fire – and ran them out of town. Those gamers like what they like and they aren’t going to take any crap from leftist scolds, shamers and shreikers. The same broughaha is setting up in the science fiction publishing industry too, and by all accounts the progs are going to get the boot there too.
To me it’s all good. This needs to spread. No, you aren’t good at winning hearts and minds, Danielle. You ARE good at taking advantage of the better nature of conservatives, and you’re pretty good at bullying, badgering, guilt tripping and censoring … But a growing number of us see you for what you are and the jig is up. By the way I LOVE video game violence. It’s very satisfying to snipe NPCs with a rail gun from waaaaay across the map when I’m in a bad mood.
In my mind, her only issue is she isn’t getting laid. If she was getting it often and how she liked it, she wouldn’t be worried about us enjoying violent video games.
I don’t like violent video games either, so … I simply do not play them. My love of freedom tells me that I shouldn’t bother those who do like to play violent video games. I understand who freedom works. That fat crone doesn’t.

Let me reiterate: does anyone have any evidence, anywhere, that Anita Sarkeesian has advocated the use of the government’s monopoly on the use of force to achieve her aims?
Does anyone have any evidence, anywhere, that she has funded her particular diatribe with public funds?
If the answer to either of these is “yes”, then I stand corrected: Sarkeesian is a censor and a fascist. But if, as I believe, the answer is “no”, then I’m not sure what everyone is so butthurt about. She engaged the public in the marketplace of ideas. You know, like the right keeps saying the left should do instead of just banning things they don’t like. A competing viewpoint emerged and by all accounts has been massively more successful in terms of real institutional change.
The whole #GamerGate slap-fight is inside baseball. BioWare’s RPGs were in the discount bin long before Tropes vs. Women was launched, and the Supreme Court ruled years ago that censoring video game violence is unconstitutional.
