Dear America: Why are you so interested in the states that are “reopening”? Your control group is right here, in the center of the nation. We were never ordered to shut down, and we never did. And it turns out that we’re no more afflicted than you are. Indeed, in many ways, we are far healthier.

  1. It is not exactly too ‘scientific’ to compare South Dakota to Texas. Different climate, 800k population vs. 29 million, etc.

    1. The spread of infectious diseases is mostly driven by population density, another important distinction.

      Not that it matters. None of the Chinese Lung AIDS responses were driven by any kind of science in the first place. You can’t reason someone out of a position they weren’t reasoned into to begin with.

    2. We know that colder climates actually foster the China virus ergo South Dakota’s climate would favour an increase in China Virus activity. Plus, density, as a factor only plays a role in the initial rate of population spread, as total population exposure will always occur. It’s an area under the curve thing you see, Jim.

    There is a very promising field emerging on the right, in American politics. I hope they take this opportunity, to simply exclude the MSM, and do new things. I wonder how an actual director, like Eastwood, or D’Souza would structure a debate? Would it even be a “debate”, or something none of us have ever seen? Should the Democratic Party even be included (I say, no; the MSM is the Democratic Party, so cut them all out)?

    How about, an hour long debate, where two people are chosen at random as the “leaders”, they do most of the debating. Everyone else is drawn randomly to join a side. Half way through, the supporting cast has to switch to support the other guy’s positions.

  3. I think we know why media types and East coast Liberals are getting in a snit about Republican run States reopening or in South Dakota’s case…never closing at all.
    Meanwhile in Connecticut, Democrat Governor Lamont began Phase 3 for the State back in Oct/2020 and this Friday is lifting capacity limits on all venues and other restrictions yet no one’s said a god damned word.
    See, it’s different when they do it.

Canadians are coward sheep, afraid to do anything without mommy government holding their little hands, telling them it will be ok and never mind. We have dogshit third world healthcare, yet Canadians sneer at anyone who suggests any private supplement and calls it American style, you know the kind with no waiting lists, top flight doctors and patients in control? My beloved wife died (was killed) by Canadian healthcare at 52. Every day I hope today will be the day this diseased dominion rolls over and dies.

        You have however, captured the essence of our (Free!) Health Care system, and we’ve all experienced it in spades over the last year. Approaching our eighties, and in good health for most of those years, my wife and I couldn’t find a Canadian trained general practitioner for the past decade plus, after moving to a retirement community. Walk in clinics only; filled with immigrant physicians routed through a Maritime province. Their contempt for patients was often palpable. Bad experiences. Try complaining and the system will at best ignore you, or much worse, resort to intimidation. Thank a Liberal.

  4. But today we live in a climate where death seems like it should only be a remote possibility. In truth, it is always a possibility. South Dakotans know this.

    Most of America has disavowed any notion of a creator-God, instead opting for a “scientific” notion of our existence. That is to say we are just another carbon based organism. A meat bag of chemicals and random electrical nerve impulses. Our consciousness is just some random byproduct of our evolved brain. Our own unique personalities and individual consciousness? Just a meaningless byproduct of our electrochemical stew.

They openly mock those who say they “pray” for disaster victims, etc. … unless that prayer is for the government to backup a huge truck loaded with cash that can be scammed by disaster poseurs.

    How do we … *ahem* … “evolved” gods SAVE our own lives? We hoard toilet paper. We shun human contact. We cover our faces in brightly colored fabric, some with whimsical words or cat images. Some don plastic face shields. Our courts isolate the participants behind plexiglass cubicles. We even sacrifice their OWN children on the altar personal salvation by separation from the classroom. And yet we mock “primitive” man and his belief in God. I must say, most of our population of demigods are pathetic deities. They flail about seeking a long-er life.

    My suggestion? Next time you try to kill off the LIVING God … try replacing Him with something better… not worse.

    Newsweek fact checks a report that vaccines have caused 966 deaths.
    In places they actually use logical arguments.
    Contrast their entirely reasonable skeptical questions about the vaccine deaths report with their ‘Blind Pig’ approach to reports of Covid deaths.

    Big city amenities come with a hefty price. The air is foul, its always noisy, you can barely see a star at night, there is very little privacy, it boils in the summer with all the concrete and asphalt. There is always garbage everywhere…and when a disease comes around it spreads quick, fast and in a hurry.

  8. “Never let a crisis go to waste.” As seen by the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918-1920 we reached herd immunity naturally. There was no lockdown, no search for a miracle vaccine, there was no running around with our hair on fire screaming “We’re all DOOMED, I tell ya, DOOMED!” But all of our so-called bettors initiated this panic because this could be a crisis that could be used to increase their hold on power. Hence the drive to implement travel vaccine papers. Great way to control everything that you do.

    On the other hand there are people that profess that herd immunity would have been reached immaterial of all the so-called precautions that were instituted to exert control. Frontline Doctors have been demonized by the press for their stance on controlling the virus as have many others. Thankfully, the internet has not yet succumbed to total censorship and we can still share items like this.

      1. In this vid Nick Hudson (PANDA) looks at the data from the early Cruise line outbreaks. He claims that was basic science, observe what happened to a closed off group. The numbers were ignored. Very few died from the Wuhan flu.

It was a perfect natural experiment, everyone confined and exposed by initial socialising then shared aircon, a variety of age groups, young crew, mostly elderly passengers many with comorbidities. Known outcome. All the world’s public health bodies watched and then ignored the obvious conclusions as to whom was vulnerable, whom had mild symptoms and whom was unscathed. It’s almost like they had another agenda and threw away the accumulated public health policy up to 2020.

    3. Antenor – my mother was old enough to remember the Spanish Flu epidemic. The family had a farm, but someone still had to go into town for necessities. As my mother would recall, it fell to her father to take the wagon in to town. On his return, he would sleep in the barn. Don’t know how long this went on, but that was one family which was definitely taking precautions back in the day.

      Had occasion to see the death list from a mine up the west coast of British Columbia. As I recall, all were in the 20 – 50 age range. That’s not totally surprising, as that’s the age range of the miners up there. But the Spanish Flu tore through the community once it got there. Amongst the dead was a nurse.

    But that’s a complete lie. 1/500 South Dakotans died of this. No matter how hard you want to believe you did right, you didn’t.
