I suspect that next, they’ll adopt a resolution supporting their own version of an Islamophobia czar despite the hopelessness of Muslims believing them to be the most efficacious vandals of western civilization and therefore worthy of their vote. “Me too” conservatism avoids the issues which the media will come down hardest on but betrays faith in the myth that the media will ever be on their side and within the Canadian context of being fiscally bound to the LPC and thereby conflicted. Conservatism is now just fatally compromised libertarianism and populism (ideologically indiscriminate) with the promise of being less deranged and fiscally less incontinent than their more Marxist fellow liars. Honesty is now a virtue of the unelectable.

          1. I have to partly agree with him on this one. The question appears to be a triple negative. Should parents get to decide? Some far lefties are bringing toddlers to violent ICE protests then screaming at the cameras “they gassed my poor, defenseless baby! (that I brought here so that would happen because OMB.) Should government agents decide who can/Should transition against the wills of the (non leftist) parents? His next question below helps to frame things better.

            The question that should have been asked was “gender transitioning or counseling is immoral and will illegal for those under the age of 25, the age at which the brain is fully developed, in Canada. Yes/No.”

            This whole thread agrees with the premise there was a real distinction between “death by hemlock, or death by the ax?”

          2. I put that out for informational purposes, so that people weren’t guessing about what was proposed. I didn’t express an opinion. That you manufactured an opinion for me speaks to your paranoia.

            Having said that, here’s my opinion: The phrasing is awkward. Some might read it the wrong way. And it’s probably unnecessary given their previous resolutions on the topic.

          3. I would argue that the moment you accept a false premise … you’ve lost the argument completely. In this case of “gender”-anything … is similar to CAGW … Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. Nice, polite, moderate Republicans like to say … “yes, the world is warming” … TILT! ERROR! Sorry … but you’ve now LOST the argument and anything else you say will become irrelevant… because you’ve accepted the FALSE, unproven, claim that “fossil fuels” are raising the earths temperature. There is no empirical evidence for this … other than computer models and mangled temperature records.

            The ONLY correct answer is the one spoken by Trump … CAGW is FRAUD … and it is being used to destroy Western civilization. PDJT is the ONLY Politician I know with the balls to speak this truth. And it is the same for “gender”-anything. It’s a make-believe construct of FRAUDULENT psychologists and so-called physicians.

          6. I’m late to the semantics argument, but etymology and historical usage trump the ‘evolution’ of words perpetrated by the usual suspects. See below, and research more! In short, there are 2 sexes, male and female. “Gender”, historically, was a term that was NOT associated with sex or the imaginary kinds of genders, etc.
            To wit….
            The concept of gender, in the modern social science sense, is a recent invention in human history. The ancient world had no basis of understanding gender as it has been understood in the humanities and social sciences for the past few decades. The term gender had been associated with grammar for most of history and only started to move towards it being a malleable cultural construct in the 1950s and 1960s.

            Before the terminological distinction between biological sex and gender as a role developed, it was uncommon to use the word gender to refer to anything but grammatical categories. For example, in a bibliography of 12,000 references on marriage and family from 1900 to 1964, the term gender does not even emerge once. Analysis of more than 30 million academic article titles from 1945 to 2001 showed that the uses of the term “gender”, were much rarer than uses of “sex”, was often used as a grammatical category early in this period. By the end of this period, uses of “gender” outnumbered uses of “sex” in the social sciences, arts, and humanities.     A Conservative government will protect children by prohibiting life altering medicinal or surgical interventions on minors under 18 to treat gender confusion or dysphoria, and encourage positive mental and physical health support for all Canadians suffering from gender dysphoria and related mental health challenges.

    That resolution is still in effect.

  16. Still waiting for the “Conservative Party” of Canada to grasp that politics have changed. It’s no longer about patronizing a voting bloc to welcome them under a “Big Tent” by compromising your values, beliefs and principles. People are much more shallow than they used to be, unfortunately. They are, also, much more extreme.

    It’s now all about trends. I’d use the Tea Party (before it was hijacked) and MAGA as an example. It’s no longer about courting additions. It’s about setting up a baseline position(s) and then, perhaps, allowing those wanting to be part of it to join the movement. Canada has no baseline (and the above nonsense proves that). People nowadays thrive on trends. If you want the majority you have to be willing to set a concrete, concise, and easily understandable position, and then consistently reinforce that position without dilution.

    THAT’s why the nationalist movements are gaining steam across the globe. BUT, without an easily understandable and common sense position on those issues in the forefront, you can’t establish the necessary momentum to flourish. Canada really, really, really requires a nationalist leader and movement to evolve. And, the Liberals in Canada know it, which is why they came down so hard on the Truckers in Ottawa. That very effort could have really started the ball rolling. So they squashed it (illegally, but effectively).

  19. I just did a sanity check. I looked up the definition of “gender” in a 2000 dictionary. The first definition not referring to a part of speech was “a person’s sex.” Before the nutcases of the world took over definitions, sex and gender were the same thing.
