Ask the Japanese and Germans locked up in WWII. From 1942 until 1949, not to put too fine a point on it. Young people are reminded that the war against the Japanese ended in 1945.

Young people may also need reminded that the #DemocRats also interned the Japanese in the USA, but let them all out by 1946.

So yes I think they have always been like this, but they used to hide it better. I feel that they used to be afraid of what decent Canadians might do to them, but since the 1970s all the fear has gone out of them entirely.
