Can Saskatchewan do the CANDU?

Should Saskatchewan buy the CANDU reactor when it comes to building large-scale nuclear in this province? Carl Marcotte Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Business Development at CANDU Energy, part of AtkinsRealis, makes the pitch. Building large reactors will only be the largest, most expensive decision made by this province for generations.

I’m hoping to get Westinghouse on in a future episode, as the main competitor.

  1. No, you really shouldn’t be buying the CANDU from the corrupt spawn of SNC Lavalin and Trudeaus fire sale of AECL for $15million.

  2. If the government of Canada has anything, anything at all to do with CANDU’s they shouldn’t touch them with a 100 foot pole. In addition to being galactically incompetent at everything, they would find a way to tie Saskatchewan down with them if possible.

  3. If we dropped the fear of plant food, coal will more than suffice.
I have a better use for Saskatchewan’s uranium.
Once Saskatchewan abandons its servitude to Ottawa, coal will be so much cheaper,in lifecycle and total cost.
“Carbon Capture” is a job best left to the trees.
One can also note the actions of China and India on this front.
    Practicality pays off.
Delusions bankrupt every customer of State controlled utilities.

  4. The West needs nukes. It’s the only way to ensure enough power for the data centres planned for BC, Alberta, etc.

  5. In a few years, both Candu / AtkinsRealis and Westinghouse will both be foreign suppliers, and I would set aside one of them being Canadian as being a good thing. In some parts of the country, the idea of being “Canadian” has been poisoned by Canadians past actions against the west.

Note too, that Brookfield owns 51% of Westinghouse and Cameco owning the remaining 49%, aside from buying from a Japanese supplier, there appears to be no way of not having the eastern Laurentians eating a part of our soul.

  6. I need a new tag for nuclear. “Drill, baby, drill” doesn’t really cut it.
    “Fission, baby, fission?”
    Suggestions?

Thank you, FILTHY LIBERALS. Funniest thing I’ve read for a while. LOL

  8. Has any CANDU reactor ever been installed in Canada (or anywhere else) on time and on budget? Certainly the omnes in Ontario were all well over budget and years behind schedule. Just saying.
