The Ship Is Sinking

A 60% jump in debt is probably an underestimate, but every province is likely in the same boat. With voters currently in the mood for a pandemic style spending spree and with few mainstream politicians willing to say no, any election is now a matter of choosing which party will get us to bankruptcy the fastest.

British Columbia, Canada’s third most populous province, expects debts to surge by nearly 60% over the next three years…

The fiscal plan sees provincial debt rising to C$209 billion by March 2028 — about 57% higher than today and nearly double the level of a year ago. Ministers argue that the spending is to play catch up on core services like health — more than a third of expenses — neglected after a previous center-right government focused on balancing the books.

  1. Pot holes and migrants..

Canada is in great shape to fight a trade war.. But then again the political class only care about power.. A trillion here and a trillion there.. Nothing ever changes..

    1. The laurentians will burn canada to the ground so they can claim ownership of the ashes. Utterly vile, evil people. Just like with Kung Flu, so many people are so easily deceived by what is an obvious play on the part of the libs. Smith and Moe should be slamming the liberals for triggering this shit, instead they join ‘team canada’. Do they not feel that stick up their azz?

  2. The Free For All may be ending, MAYBE.
Govs were/are out of control, no end to cash…read (taxpayer) and debt.
BC for sure, will be a joy to watch sink……too many weed folks in the gov mix…never payed a bill out of own funds.
Drug free for all, just one symptom.
Oh well, comfy chair, some snacks and drink of choice…..WATCH THE SHOW.

    Just saying.

  3. “…neglected after a previous center-right government focused on balancing the books.”
The NDP has been in power for over seven years.
    Just sayin’

    1. What government is this alleged “center-right” government?

It sure as hell wasn’t the B.C. Liberals who were lead by former LPC candidate Christy Clark, who stepped down when the LPC heirarchy told her she wasn’t the person they wanted. The BC Libs were left of center, from Gordon Campbell and his blessed carbon tax to Christy Clak’s adamant opposition to pipelines from Alberta which she delayed until she left office.

We haven’t had a center party since the Socreds were killed off by Liberal Bill Vanderzalm. Mike Harcourt was more centrist than the last Liberal government. Eastern Liberals and Dippers started flooding into B.C. by the millions in the 1960’s and they changed our politics forever, for the worst, naturally. It’s what they do.

    2. Notice the tacit admission that you can’t pay for health care and balance the budget.

  4. I think most Canadians can stop worrying about becoming the 51st state.
Sask, Alb, Yukon, NWT Northern BC. Maybe Northern and Western Manitoba.
The rest isn’t worth the hassle or pain. What remains of BC can become a CCP colony out and proud.
Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, not worth the bother.

  5. I have been living in the Okanagan for the last 10 years.
Prior to that, I lived in Alberta for 35 years.
And before that, I lived in northern ontario for 18 years.
Net result? It don’t matter where you live in this country. Same shite, different view.

  6. MOAR socialism! Because someone else will pay for it. You know, those mythical RICH peoples.
Its the NDP, not an ounce of business sense between the lot of them. Ideological idiots.
Remember, Ebby was an activist storefront lawyer on the DTES. Garbage In, Garbage Out.
The Ratings agencies will be raking them over the coals, but they won’t care. Someone else will pay.

  7. Bring it on. The sooner they run out of other people’s money, the sooner they’ll have to do the responsible thing.

Doing the responsible thing is something governments only do when they no longer have a choice—and sometimes not even then.

Donald Trump is not the sort of person kindly disposed to bailing out foreign governments who think Uncle Sam and the IMF are soft touches. If Canada goes broke under Trump, he’ll happily send in the Marines to repossess whatever might help cover Mark Carney’s bad cheques.

Better he do it than the Chinese. Trump won’t actually sell us into slavery or for spare parts.

  8. We should make the red in the “Canadian” flag brown to properly reflect reality.

  9. YES…

We will spend a trillion more beaver dollars.. So the deck dwelling, dog walking, nap taking, work from home frauds can milk it for another 3 years.. I wont go back..

Bob and Doug Mackenzie.. Cue woop a pee doope doo.. Cue woop a pee doope doo!!

  10. “I know! We’ll dig our way out!”

It’s the only playbook innumerate Marxist retards know.
