  1. TBH … I have NO IDEA how Canadians can afford to visit America or buy American goods with your 3rd world dollars. I would think the Loonie spends better in Mexico.

That’s not an insult. It should be a call to arms (in the nonviolent revolution kinda way) against your government.

    1. In the past, border towns and malls would offer CAD at par because cross-border shopping was economically quite important to US businesses.

    2. Think of CAD as the old GDR “Ostmarks” and it is more accurate.

And the “official” anti-Americanism of the Canadian media reminds me of how the GDR’s state media used to constantly claim that West Germany was a Nazi state.

      1. They were not wrong. The vast majority of West Germany’s elites were unrepentant former card-carrying Nazi Party members, or served with enthusiasm in Nazi programs during the war years.

    3. The currency devaluation is required, if Canadian products were at par, and priced in all the extra taxes and whatnot, no one would buy them.

  2. Canadians are all bluster. They prefer to wear a participation or awareness ribbon believing it makes them better than the Americans. You know those Americans-those who actually get their hands dirtied or bloodied. They understand what real patriotism is and not our maple leaf waving sheep, all smug about their so called “free” healthcare. Just imagine how much healthcare you could buy yourself if you received your paycheck in USD and not Canadian rubles.

  3. If the tariffs actually are imposed then I would expect to see significant boycotting. It’s a natural and rational reaction. Mercantilism is nasty business where ever deployed.

  4. Vermont is great skiing and without the annoying French people…and most of the folks that live around the VY ski resorts vote Red. Besides, I’d sooner pay a USD premium before I’d spend a nickel in that parasite ridden Anglo hating shithole they call Quebec.

    1. VT also has more Craft Breweries per capita than any other State in the Union.

Try ‘Heady Topper’ from the Alchemist Brewery in Waterbury (right next door to Ben & Jerry’s)

      1. Yeah…and most of that state’s hipster douchebags seem to congregate in those establishments. I had the misfortune of having to choke down a glass of rotten grapefruit at a VT craft brew pub whilst surrounded by flannel and beards. Drank vodka for the rest of the weekend.

  5. Well, have seen anecdotal evidence of the travel ‘boycott’.
Well heeled friends just blew up their fall Hawaii 2 month stay. Both mid 60s with health issues, they’re going to wait 4 years until bAd oRaNgEmAn is gone. Yeah, good luck with that, your health issues getting worse, and that insurance will be BooKoo bucks in the future. What if it’s POTUS Vance? Hah!
Time just opened up at our time share in early April, so off we go to Hawaii for 2 weeks. Thanks for cancelling your stay, virtue signallers! And yes, thanks AC for cheaper flights too.
    Alaska cruise in June.
    Florida in November.
    Waikiki in Jan 26.
Squirrelled away $Am and CC for our travels. Not worried.
So, thank you to the virtue signalling flipflop patriots for avoiding the US. I don’t want smug Ukraine first Canadians anywhere near me when I travel.
And, please, more of you cancel, I like the discounted fares and rates happening!

    1. I have a rick of WorstJet cancelling the flight days before heading to Maui in November. Will have to use an alternate US airline if that happens.

  6. Since these boycott campaigns are based on whims, not principles, they will all collapse into a heap of contradictions. But then again, Canadians are famous for acting on whims. They certainly vote that way.

  7. Wealthy people go skiing. People with big fat government contracts for consulting or some crap.

Liberal racist Party has been treating them nice, they’re flush with cash. Pay your taxes.

    1. “Wealthy people go skiing.”

Maybe, but us poor folks did too. If you’re close to the ski-hills in the NY or VT Adirondacks as we are, skiing is pretty cheap. We used to make daytrips there all the time when our kids were at home, and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than driving the same distance to ski in Quebec … and a fraction of the price of having the kids in minor hockey.

  8. One can only hope that the coming election cools down the anti Americanism..

Its all fun and games until you lose your job..

  9. I have a brother who has lived in Florida since the late 60s. No politician is going to tell me I can’t visit him.

  10. Talked to a buddy in Saskatchewan yesterday. He’s a big time goose hunter. Where he lives there are a lot of outfitters. Many are Americans who rely on land access from the local farmers. He said guys he’s talking to (farmers) are pissed with Trump. Might be some blow back once the spring goose season starts? I dunno?

    1. You can fill your daily bag limit on any golf course down here with a loaf of bread and a golf club.
