Booze is the main gateway drug, and a friend who smokes MJ, and used to do hard drugs suggests regular cigarettes as a possible gateway drug. I can’t argue against that.
“Gateway drugs” are just a bullsh1t term used by those who like to manipulate folk with language.
Would you call .22 LR a “gateway caliber”?
It always starts with a .22.
Always ends with .50 BMG
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_BMG
Gateway indeed.
Totally agree. Started with 22lr and have only made it up to 375h&h. Hoping Polly gets in and “lets” me get a 50.
Same for almost all my friends, father etc. it always starts with a 22lr. Next thing you know you got a 12g, 30/06, 300wm and so on
Canadian “conservative” running to Big Brother to demand protection from the evils of…checks notes…pot.
Not “protections”……just don’t pretend it is harmless. It should never have been legalized. Just stupid.
Who cares if its harmless or not? Tobacco isn’t harmless, nor is booze, nor is Tylenol, nor are lot of things.
You wanna make everything that is harmful illegal? Are you that much of a limp-wristed snowflake pussywillow buttercup that you can’t protect yourself, and need the gov’t to do it for you?
Oh, and wanting something to be illegal because its not harmless is the exact definition of demanding Big Brother protect you from it.
Well said. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide have smoked pot and the vast majority haven’t graduated to harder drugs but the relatively small number that do automatically leads to “let’s criminalize it”.
Okay point made, but I do find it hypocritical of the government to ban or crack down on tobacco while embracing pot.
“You wanna make everything that is harmful illegal?”
Hmmmm… It’s a thought.
Maybe not outright illegal, but definitely more control is needed. Way too much abuse that’s being tolerated.
Why is abortion legal? Because everybody is doing it.
Why is alcohol legal? Because…
Why are opioids soon to be legal? Because…
“Because everybody is doing it” SHOULD NOT be an excuse to legalize the activity!
He seems to be unable to escape the clutches of liberal minded judges… so sad. Clearly he needs something longer than a few months to “think about it”
I’m not often interested in seeing one’s backstory, I mean prior to a lengthy criminal record, but also what led to this? broken family? raised by Liberals? alcoholic family? abuse runs rampant?
Perhaps he is just a criminal asshole.
Blame older siblings and friends. Nobody smokes a joint then just decides to go out and do smack. They get pills from friends to start. When those get too expensive and hard to find, they move on to little bags of white powder.
So pharmaceuticals are the real ‘gateway’ drug.
The Temperance Movement Redux.
I am perfectly ok with legalizing traffic in addictive drugs as long as I get to kill anyone who sells those drugs to my children.
Those with homicidal audacity claim,
“we must address the demand”
while promoting the supply.
Based on the sheer number of BIPOC’s who remain in a permanent state of stoned out of their minds … I am convinced that marijuana legalization was a racially motivated part of … “criminal justice reform” … which is wholly racially motivated as there … “are too many POC incarcerated in America -and Canada”
Don’t they have to have minds to be out of?
Most of the people I know who smoke weed are socialists
The problem isn’t drug use, its the pro-drug use people who ALWAYS downplay or refute the risks and problems and the anti-any drug people prohibitionists who NEED to be moral gate keepers of everyone.
The absolutists are the worst.
If he had been caught breaking covid shutdown while committing a crime he would be still in jail.
Marijuana is medicine (sic) … Right? Don’t get in the way of my medicine, duuude. And yeah, Medicare pays for my weed. It evens me out ma’aaaan. And I gots a prescription from the dispensary
