  1. My better half was watching a live-feed in Key West.
Assholes were going there to take selfies.
Big waves were crashing over the wall.
Some even had their dogs with them.
Kill yourself – please do and record it for me – but leave pooch at home FFS.

    1. That marker in key west is a tourist attraction. It’s not as insanely dangerous as it might seem. They’re also a long way from the center

  2. Well … Al Gore FINALLY gets his neverending monstrous hurricanes that will completely swamp FL to some imaginary blue line or something.

And by the look of the highways … FL residents aren’t sticking around for the show.

Here’s a link to Marco Island Marriott webcam..(an old haunt of mine). This is a tiny bit south of the landfall, so the outer bands will hit there first. You can see white water far out right now (and winds picking up), and idiots wading where there is sure to be growing under toe. This is a good webcam to watch, because it will likely stay up through the whole storm…and give you a flavor of what is going on.

  4. I hope everyone survives ok.

But I notice every major hurricane is now called “the worst ever” by the media.

      1. Storm of the century, I keep hearing.
If you stick around, they say, you will not survive it. YOU WILL DIE!!!

        Just a wee-bit melodramatic, IMHO.

  5. At 3 pm Atlantic time this afternoon I channel-surfed to the CBC National news network to catch the latest news on the hurricane. But there was a live presser going on, with the screen showing six separate screens, arranged one row of three screens on top of the other three. Joe Biden was on one screen, Kamala on another screen, the head of FIMA on another, the head of military operations on another, etc. The whole thing was to show that Biden and Harris are on top of the situation, and that all is good.

The media are now criticizing Trump for politicizing the hurricane. The hurricane now has been downgraded to a Cat 3.

    1. Nope. Not as far out as you think. The tech is there. Been around since the 40’s.
I’ll go even further, and say that both Helene and Milton may have been weaponized. Think of it. Just how close we are to November. How both storms originated in the Gulf, when typically, major hurricanes cross the Atlantic from Africa. How Milton went from a Tropical Storm to a Cat-5 overnight, when NONE of the models anticipated that rapid of an increase in intensity. Now look at the affected areas. Care to speculate who the population is leaning to? And why do you think FEMA has responded so poorly in NC? The speculation is that things are so bad in NC, that people will be disenfranchised from voting.
I don’t take much stock in coincidences, and remember… you heard it here first.
I look forward to saying “Well, now…” in the not-to-distant future.

  6. Some people just never figured out that leaving the concert ten minutes early is really not a loss.

“BILL GATES HOLDS A HURRICANE MODIFICATION PATENT

The Master of geo-engineering holds a hurricane patent that can “TAME” a hurricane, STRENGTHEN them and STEER them.

“Gates is listed as one of the INVENTORS on a patent for hurricane methods.”
“Gates & his team plan to use a fleet of ships to cool warm surface water”

The same people peddling climate change narratives hold the patents for CONTROLLING THE WEATHER.”

  8. Landfall (barely cat-3) was near Sarasota, so far this has kept surge out of Tampa Bay although a less severe surge could follow when winds change from current NE 70-100 to NW 80-120 … worst of surge is around Venice and Punta Gorda. Problem in Tampa Bay is excessive rainfall (12-18 in) which is pooling in poorly drained areas (lots of those).

Fortunately the storm weakened in terms of wind speeds, and actually a lot of the damage from wind gusts occurred in a squall line of tornadic cells well out in front of the core. That is already off the east coast now.

What remains of core is now s.w. of Orlando.

Too soon to say it was a better outcome than any feared, but it ay be only a fraction of what was being discussed in terms of total damages.
