Because that’s the only lift the Liberals have left.
McGuinty announced the Snowbirds’ Tutor jets will be replaced by CT-157 Siskin II turboprops but gave no completion date, other than they’re “expected to be operational in the early 2030s.”
Given Canada’s history of military procurement fiascoes, we’ll believe it when we see it.
They have no intention of replacing them.
1⃣ Bucky Belanger introduces David McGuinty. Belanger is the MP who thought the Iran war was in Libya. He describes the Snowbirds being grounded as “very joyous & happy event.”
2⃣ McGuinty asked how long Snowbirds will be grounded. Twice. Reporter mentions 2030’s was in the press release. McGuinty provides no specifics. “Moving as quickly as we can.”
3⃣ How many Siskins (the replacement aircraft, a prop plane, not a jet) to be procured? “That remains to be determined.”
4⃣ Snowbirds will stay in Moose Jaw. Personnel re-assignment? Lt Gen Speiser-Blanchet – “We don’t have a list of specific activities at this time.”
5⃣ Final show is scheduled in the US. Will this change? “We are looking at that now.”

No longer good enough for jets (even outdated ’60s vintage ones), Canada has to downgrade to propeller trainers. And even then we won’t see them until the Liberal government’s cheque clears.
Canada under Liberal rule is like a reality-show character. A former A-lister with questionable plastic surgery, who now has to slum for a paycheck because their credit cards keep getting cut up.
I wonder.
Did the manufacturer demand payment in US currency?
What a joke. We go from the Golden Hawks with Sabres to slower Tutors to these things. A perfect metaphor for the what was once a proud military.
Great! 1930s technology. Why not just buy 18 low stress low maintenance jet trainers and we’re good for another 60 years? We are becoming a shithole country faster than we ever dreamed. While we’re out it why don’t we put a crying girl in charge of the military? Oops, too late.
Surely they could scape together a half dozen 1950’s Harvards to do the job. I still remember the skies over SW Calgary in the 1950s with those noisy yellow trainers.
We Got Skills.
At what point do they downgrade to hang gliders?
Hang gliders? Surely capital punishment has been abolished.
L – The Canadian Air Force pilots trained to fly jets will most likely transfer their skill set to other jets either commercial or to military jets, for a Western ally, which the government of Canada no longer is and has not been since the Liberals were elected in 2015.
But Saskatchewan has Moose Jaw and Alberta has Cold Lake. Via Independence the pioneering spirit that produced true patriotic love, that inspired the creation and maintenance of the nation-state that was Canada. Of which all Canadians were so proud during the Centennial celebrations of 1967. It might rise again. Some of that joie d’vivre came alive again during the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa. Families were travelling to Ottawa to share in the celebration of the Canada that went missing during the Lockdowns.
That was the reason for the Trudeau Liberals invoking the Emergencies Act(War Measures Act 2.0). Because that celebration, if left unchecked could scuttle Justin Trudeau’s W.E.F. goal to truly make Canada into a post, nation-state.
That goal is supposed to be finally achieved by the undertaker, P.M. Mark Carney, the Liquidation Manager brought in to auction off its remaining assets to the C.C.P. and related Cartels of nihilism. The destruction of the Snowbirds is another nail in the coffin. To be continued…
All praise to Set, the Skill God!
This like what the Allied command did when they “reassigned” General Patton to the fifth army.
We know how that ended.
The Pilaltus PC-21 is arguably better than the Tutor in all respects except one: low speed acrobatics.
I live in Moose Jaw and my first question is why was the illiterate La Ronge Indian band representative Bucky Belanger involved ? Fraser Tolmie (Con) is our MP.
I still get a charge when those Tutor engines roar over the city. We frequently are treated to mini airshows as they practice out our way. Were any of the flight crew interviewed?
The CT-157 Shitskin is the perfect plane for the flip flop-wearing pilots who will be at the controls in our new imported military.
RNrn
There’s a fair number of people at airshows who love to see the old warbirds from WW2, the Mustangs, Corsairs, and Spitfires, the CT-157 appears to be a capable airplane too, but there’s no history to it worth honoring, so let’s not deceive ourselves by suggesting it’s a replacement for jets.
People at airshows will say, “Canada used to have jets in this show”
And you know what the CT-157 will never be?
Jets.
They’ll never be jets.
AND, Canada can’t build them, they’ll be “off the shelf” (someone else’s shelf) except that like all things in the Canadian military, the #Libranos will insist that these are the “CF-157” because “they’re Canadian”
Just like the Ranger’s rifles up north.
They’ll never be jets.
Under the Liberal governments of Trudeau and Carney, Canadian taxpayers have donated over 25 billion dollars to the Ukrainian war effort. Let that fact sink in, over 25 billion dollars. Now think about this, we have neither an Army, Navy, or Air Force that is capable of defending this country. Canada has the largest coastline of any country in the world yet our Navy is comparable in size to Pakistan’s. We are, for all intents and purposes, an Arctic to sub-Arctic country but have a very limited ability to engage for any length of time in cold Arctic conditions. We live in the second largest country in the world, but have an inability to defend any hostile air incursions without assistance from America or for that matter the ability to deploy in any number armed forces personnel across the country. Now consider this Canada had the third largest navy in the world after 1945, Canada was assigned one of the five beach-heads on D-Day and was successful in securing the objective, and during WWII we built Lancaster bombers, Hurricane fighters, and Mosquito multi-purpose aircraft, and we did all of that with a population of less than 15 million people. Liberal policies have gutted and eviscerated the Canadian Armed Forces since WWII and the Snowbirds like ‘The Bonnie’ have now been relegated to the Liberal dust-bin. Don’t believe me, wait and see!
The Baltic Bees, a civilian demonstration team flies military jets… the Canadian Military follows the example of New Zealand and South Africa and replaces the Jet Trainers with prop planes
