The Inanity of Masking

I recently spent two weeks back in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was really nice to see my many friends there but the Community Mask Quotient (CMQ) is still way too high for my comfort level. It’s clearly a sign IMO that people are psychologically unwell. If you think that people walking alone outdoors or driving alone in their cars with masks & gloves on is a sign of strong mental health, then you probably are in the same camp as Christine h/t Larry.

On Saturday, on my drive northeast out of San Francisco (SF), I ended up talking with a longtime friend in Vancouver. He gave me his take on the state of things there and I shared my observations about SF. He shared how his son witnessed the recent death of a student at Point Grey High School. This is not being reported by the legacy media but the Grade 11 boy had a massive seizure and could not be revived. He added that “everyone is being very respectful by not asking questions”. I have a very different take on “why” people are not asking questions. Suffice to say, it involves a certain jab.

My friend is pretty middle-of-the-road politically and has long been focused on finding middle-of-the-road solutions. I’m not against this approach generally but do take a hard line on masking. It’s November 2022, not April 2020. How much longer are we, as a society, going to continue on with this Covid Theatre, especially given that the Danish Mask Study and the Bangladesh Mask Study strongly indicate that masking has had little to no effect. Plus, all of the masks-forever proponents completely ignore the massive damage masks have done to the learning abilities of children, as well as the general social fracturing they have contributed to. IMO masking needs to end and those of us with even a modicum of common sense need to set an example … as I did throughout my stay in SF.

So my friend’s insistence to find middle ground, followed by “what’s the harm of children masking in school every day?”, had us in a major disagreement, as I’ve outlined above. Masking of children must end. Period. That is not a “far right” stance.

As coincidences have it, this morning’s episode of their thrice weekly podcast, had Dr. Drew Pinsky & Adam Carolla discussing the topic. Pinsky referenced Dr. Vinay Prasad, who shared his thoughts on a very flawed recent study.

  1. The push by the lugenpresse to bring in mask mandates in Ontario is deeply disturbing. If they succeed and idiots in Ontario comply it’ll be perma masks nation wide. They’re even asking the Feds to bring them back on planes.

    1. The last I heard, the new jab uptake is only about 16%.

That’s a steep hill to climb. Add on gas prices, high inflation and rising interest rates and at some point something breaks. And let’s not forget about the excess deaths. Those are only going to keep escalating and will become harder and harder to hide.

I’ve taken my mother to various doctor’s offices and even there, no one bitched when she had her mask under her nose.

      1. I say … let those who believe the mask will protect them, wear the mask and don’t be bothered by those of us who do NOT believe the mask protects us. As long as you are a protected liberal you should be pleased that most conservatives don’t buy in and may get sick. That should please you, no? I’m thinking about how many of our fellow citizens wished us death for not complying.

        FYI
Most people wear cotton rags on their faces and call that a surgical mask.
You have to wear the mask under your nose or your glasses will be fogged up.
Living in fear is no way to live.

  2. Masks never worked, it was all theatre and virtue signalling. Even the N95 didn’t work since the virus particles were smaller than the masks were designed for. Its all about control and obedience, showing who is the Alpha Dog and its not the one wearing the mask!

    1. What is the most common aerosol particle /droplet size expelled from the lungs while breathing, singing, coughing or sneezing?

Hint it’s not the width of a single COVID virus.

Answer 25 to 1000 microns. So an N95 mask can filter these aerosol droplets.

Plus, properly made N95 masks inner layers have an electrostatic attraction to smaller particles, thus enhancing their filtration efficiency.

Whether anyone chooses to wear a mask is up to each individual.

I suggest people consider their own health, age, and so called co-morbidities in their risk based decisions.

      1. Once that N95 gets moist and wet from excess exhaust it’s over for that mask.
No beards can be tolerated and a clean shaven face is a must for maximum effect for the seal.
The act of taking said mask off is also fraught with problems if the face is touched or the hands not washed plus the mask must be properly disposed of in a biohazard container.
Who is going to do that other than trained health care pros.

Just one small slip up and those N95s are useless.
Might as well use a scuba mask , tank and gear.

          1. joe – my problem is that masking causes me to have frequent, nasty coughing spells, which make me sound as if I am “in extremis”. That being said, my mask of choice (which has as small N95 insert) features a very much photoshopped picture of two kittens with blue masks. Have had quite a few complements on same.

          2. Frances

I currently don’t wear a mask unless I’m in a hospital or a very crowded situation. I only use N95 masks. I never wear a mask outside.

Some people here have concerns about build up of nonCOVID germs, bacteria, etc. in a mask. So they make a decision not to wear one. I’m fine with that.

It’s about assessing risk and choosing the right option for each individual. That’s freedom.

When in Canada I’ll drive on icy roads, but I reduce my speed. When in the southern USA, if there is freezing rain or icy road conditions, I don’t drive. I know how to handle ice, millions of southerners don’t. It’s about how much risk we each want to take.

          3. Freedom is not being castigated as an outlaw by everybody from your dickhead Prog PM all the way down to the GD Prog dog-catcher for a personal & private health care decision.

If you wouldn’t have been programmed by the bastards in the first place, you’re unlikely to have ever considered a mask in the first place.

        1. If Ambulance personnel, wearing full suits can catch covid a mask is not doing a whole lot. I either caught covid on a bus with everybody masked or sitting on the beach. The bus was the only time I was indoors with other people in that 2 week time frame.

Having said that I wear a mask on buses, I dont know if its 90% effective or 10% effective, I only know its not 100% effective and hope its not 0%.
Here in australia, the abc’s pet fear monger Norman Swan has been caught blaming covid for heart attacks for the death of a person who has never had covid. Of course everybody know that the likelihood of them not having a jab is pretty much 0.

      2. N95, has pores about 365nm a virus is about 65nm. All masks are totally useless at preventing viral spread. It is a physical, virological, biological, medical impossibility, use whatever numbers you want they are f-ing useless. Studies as far back as 40 years have proven that. A level 4 biohazard set up might work but you ain’t wearing it to wally-mart.

  3. The most utilized one is the paper surgical mask. It’s also utterly useless.

    Viral Particulate @ .05 – .015mU
Smallest pore in above mask: 100mU

    Mosquitos – Chain link fence

    1. Those paper face diapers, indeed, are useless.
Dr Bryan Bridle performed a Demo on Rumble, showing what happens when one breathes out, using smoke to prove that these masks are as useless as t1ts on a snake.

      1. Not only that, but if any of these masks were indeed effective, they would be crawling with the so-called “deadly” virus & therefore classified a biohazard w/ specific disposal requirements, just like sharps, etc. Were they ever treated as such? No. Even at the hospitals there were all thrown into regular garbage cans, some even inside the GD building!

While visiting a buddy in the hospital a few weeks back, the elastic strap on my hospital issued blue paper mask broke. One of the nurses handed me a new mask & took the old one with his bare hand & tossed it in the garbage at the nurse’s station.

        Ooooooo, scary virus!

        1. DB, I wonder how many people debug their clothes and shoes when they get home? I wonder do they have ultraviolet lights set up throughout their homes? The stupid is f****** unbelievable.

  4. Re middle ground.

That will be like trying to find the middle ground between the arsonist and the fireman

  5. I posted this on youtube just an hour ago “All that science is based on opinion of experts who never had been right their whole professional carrier, but those doomsday predictions pay off handsomely with government and industry funding and it’s not like they have to give it back when it turned out to be a lie again.”
And it got promptly delete by youtube not the content owner.
As long as we rewording people for been wrong and never hold them accountable than there is no reason why they would change their behaviour. Drag them before a judge and jury under oath under penalty and their tune changes as we have seen all too often.

    1. Yeti – many years ago, a Nobel prize winner gave this definition of expert: ex – former; pert – a squirt under pressure. I defer to his wisdom.

  6. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of people that are permanently damaged. In their psyche.
Probably will never get over it.
There is a new hysteria campaign by the media cartel in Calgary that can’t stop masturbating the politicians to impose dicktat (sic).
The premier Smith clearly communicated that if some want to wear a mask, go ahead, knock yourself out, she is not going to impose dicktat (sic).
That remains to be seen, the media cartel hysteria campaign is at full force and supported by the cartel’s selected ‘experts’. As soon as somebody calling in a different opinion, they are cut short. The ‘journalist’ may say ‘you have 30 seconds’ and that’s what you get.
When you listen, watch or read the media, its relentless. The only way to stop it is turn it off or don’t read the paper.
Of course people that are interested in the affairs of men need the media to form an opinion.
As it is the media cartel is selling misinformation, disinformation, omission and plain bald-faced lies, it’s their trade.

  7. At work the other day, a masked co-worker commented on how good my dinner smelled.

If you can’t understand that if you can smell something while masked, then you can still breathe in viruses. And nothing will change your mind. Sad.

      1. I used that one when masks first started to appear. I asked people if their mask passed the fart test.

  8. There is no middle ground on this .
Either we have rights and freedoms independent of bureaucrats or we have none.
Basic physics should be understood by every citizen,
    Ditto basic biology..
“Do not panic” the watchword of every herd.
The old wives tales, such as “The Emperor’s New Clothes” are a caution..We are an extremely gullible species..given to herd behaviour..
    Obey the Dominant Beast..
    Stampede.
    “Be Normal”..
The idiocy of Dread Covid Theatre will remain for decades.

    1. “Ditto basic biology”

Sheiiit. When 1/3 of the “party of science” believes that XY’s can get pregnant, biology has long left the building.

    2. Yes. Don’t breathe. Follow the crowd and ignore a basic function to continue living in good health.
This was nothing but a social experiment to see how stupid people really are and I am so glad I moved to an area where I am not longer at their mercy. Watching my veteran husband get ostracized from stores & society over as stupid a subject has pretty much turned me off of humanity forever. He can’t wear a mask. He has interstitial lung disease. People knew he had problems and chose through willful ignorance to ignore a solid fact.

  9. Since the mask mandate in Ontario was dropped in May this year, I have noticed a very slow, but steady, decline in mask wearing in the marketplace and at my church. I work in retail, in a small, specialized boutique. Today, EVERY customer who came into the shop was wearing a mask.

I had breakfast with my sister (who lives in Mississauga) yesterday and we discussed Christmas and who will host this year. Her concerns were RSV (big in Mississauga), seasonal flu, and COVID. Ontario’s CMO is now pushing masks, but not because of COVID; it’s RSV.

I’ve been reading about an increase in respiratory infections in children and a shortage of children’s Tylenol. I noticed my local Walmart’s shelves were empty. Even the Toronto Sun has an article about Canadians crossing the border to Buffalo to purchase children’s flu medications. (Canadians love to hate America and Americans, until we need what they have.)

Wasn’t a successive wave of the Spanish flu actually bacterial pneumonia, a result of mask wearing? Isn’t the so-called COVID “vax” destroying immune systems? When will this madness end? Oh, wait. It will never end.

    1. Which is why it’s important to stop Ontario from implementing a mask mandate. If they do we’ll all be mandated, locked down and vaxx passed again until we flush hair lisp down the drain.

      1. The words and action have to be, no, we will not comply. If no one complied just what would they do, shoot us all? Cowards live on their knees.

  10. Comment ftom Dr. Alexander’s site re mask recommendations:
It is interesting that at an early point Toronto Children’s Hospital in developing guidelines for schools could not come to an agreement on masking kids. So they refrained from including advice on that. A number of doctors felt masks were detrimental for children and recent experience proves they interfere with learning. One childrens doctor stated that children should never be forced to wear masks. It’s traumatizing. And yet, Ontario’s head doctor now says: “He also recommended children between two and five wear a mask, if possible.” He should be challenged on this.
(It’s my comment, so just reposting here.)

  11. ” This is not being reported by the legacy media but the Grade 11 boy had a massive seizure and could not be revived. He added that “everyone is being very respectful by not asking questions”. I have a very different take on “why” people are not asking questions. Suffice to say, it involves a certain jab.”

Imagine typing this with a straight face and expecting people to take you seriously. Just imagine.

    1. I understood and agreed with every word. You insist on closing your eyes to reality. Enjoy bumping into it, over and over.

  12. Robert … You know I’m a Bay Area resident … and let me certify the accuracy of your suggestion that a huge number of Bay Area residents are psychologically unwell. You hit the nail on the head.

    1. A lot in Ontario as well. Spread right across Canada, actually. And right here on Kate’s blog, we have UnMe as an example of this phenomenon.

      1. UnMe may say he/she/it uses the mask but until I see pics I call BS on it.
Same goes for all the other clowns.
” Do as I say, not as I do “.

      2. Things are normal in BC so far. Very few masked kooks still. The lugenpresse here hasn’t been pushing them either since Bonnie Henry is still in her hidy hole (hopefully forever).

  13. I think the way to “honor” the passing or demise of someone who has died an unfortunate early death, is to recognise what led to it. Not to allow others to make assumptions which are so common with the aged, who often enough die of “old age”, while politeness may stifle the truth that if they hadn’t smoked a pack a day, (for example) they would have had another 20 years in them.

If a sibling of mine, (none of my kids are gov’t jabbed) died after being gov’t jabbed, people would never hear the end of it. My kids are aware of some young people (20-30’s) who have died very soon after being jabbed. Their memory of this will be long.
    Very long.

I haven’t anything civil to say to people who would tell me to mask up again.

  14. Them:
“My loved one died suddenly of heart issues”
    Me:
    “I’m sorry, were they jabbed?”
    Them:
    “That’s rude to ask!”
    Me:
“Bro you asked me of my jab status to come to your house last year for turkey day food, what was that?”
    etc… (from a friend’s FB)

    1. Yup…..many of the jabbed have lost some of their arrogance…..I suspect it has been replaced with an inner fear that every time they feel an abnormal beat in their heart, they will be wishing they could turn back the clock. I keep reminding them to pay attention to the rhythm of their heart….you know, just for fun.

  15. Funny how before the pandemic, the science was quite clear that masking does NOT stop respiratory viruses. Then all of a sudden it changed. Weird, eh?

    1. CDC in May 2020
“In our systematic review, we identified 10 RCTs that reported estimates of the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community from literature published during 1946–July 27, 2018. In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks.”

  16. Most Canadians simply don’t want to wear masks again because it is inconvenient.

They do things as any lazy creature would: because it suits them.

This is, in part, why we have the mentality of getting “free” things and not labouring for anything.

Locking people down for two years, wearing ineffective masks and these immune system damaging jabs also have taken tolls but why factor those in? That would be appealing to reason.

  17. My friend is pretty middle-of-the-road politically and has long been focused on finding middle-of-the-road solutions.

Hmmmmm. No offence Robert…but your gelatinous friend and people like him are unwittingly part of the problem. There are no “middle of the road” solutions when the other side is constantly taking. Aside from being lazy thinkers, those claiming to seek the halfway ground are basically admitting they’re fearful of offending those very people who need to be offended.
Middle of the road problem solving only creates more problems. It’s like agreeing to keep half a sandwich while handing the rest of your lunch over to the schoolyard bully. It won’t be long before he wants for your half.

BTW – Why is no one talking about Sweden?

    1. Agreed. But the Radical Leftists (aka Communists) count on wearing people out to get their way. Many people, like my friend, fold quickly because they simply don’t have the will to fight back against the horde.

  18. FWIW, I think Dr Drew has had some very useful and relatable programming on the vaccines. Ed Dowd, the data guy has been on twice with his actuarial stats (life, health, disability). This signal from Dowd’s data coupled with the Israeli study on myocarditis is compelling.
