1. I’ll assume that he plans to tackle spraying fertilizer in a future video… and maybe the Trudeau idiotic plan to reduce crop yields because farmers have no incentive to minimize the amount of really expensive fertilizer they spray on their fields and crops

   1. Fertilizer isn’t sprayed on the ground. It’s put in like seed, under the surface, usually before the seed goes in.

      Organic food is grown without any of this stuff. And that organic stuff is expensive, the yields are small, and if we went without these chemicals altogether we’d couldn’t afford to eat. We’d starve. Inconvenient truth.

      There is a whole field of science around farming, yet the general public, the media, and especially most of the politicians, are totally ignorant of it all. Some farmers go to agricultural college and get degrees in it. And the public thinks farmers are all redneck high-school dropouts. The level of education in this country is appallingly poor. Just wait until frustrated farmers start leaving the farm to find work in some other industry, and see what happens to the shelves in the supermarkets.

2. But DICK!! Give me spots on my oats, but leave me the birds and the bees!! Don’ it always seem to go … that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone … they planted paradise and put up a HUGE cash crop for personal profit.

   Sorry … I’m a UC Berkeley grad … I learned alllllll the “pure” Mother Earth love songs of the 60’s and 70’s. And how dare the farmers PROFIT from our gentle Gaia and all her natural weeds.

      1. Food … like Health care … should be a “human right” … Right? For-Profit food is as “immoral” as For-Profit healthcare. See what happens when you start with the Marxist claptrap surrounding healthcare? Suddenly … every bodily function is “owed” to you. Your toilet paper and feminine hygiene products should be free too, eh? Hair combs … free. Clothing … free. Comfy bed … free.

4. Scorched earth politics applied to carrots is not going to end well for anybody.. My fear is we are going to lose the expertise that can only be handed down.. Drop me in a field and tell me to produce and I’m going to make a weed patch.. Trudeau is messing where he doesn’t belong.. The sooner he retires the better..

   1. But, but, but … “organic” farming would use 20 million illegal border crashers to pull all those weeds. Why … they’d have his fields weeded in no time flat. And he’d eventually teach them the difference between weeds and oats.

6. I shouldn’t be amazed at the number of people who assume that successful farmers – you know, the ones that survive in a brutally Darwinian industry and make enough to buy out the neighbour who hasn’t – don’t know what generates profits and productivity.

   But then, despite the time I’ve spent on the interwebs, I still am.

   My grandfather farmed without chemicals and fertiliser. He ran far fewer stock and produced half the grain, per acre. Don’t think returning to those methods is going to feed the world.

      No, it wouldn’t, that’s for sure. But about forty percent of the North American corn crop is used for the energy negative production of ethanol. That’s a lot of acreage that could and should be used for food production.

      2. I talked to a retired farmer . When him and his wife started out they through with new variety’s of seeds they should make there bins bigger so they built to have 25 bushels per acre . That same land last year grew 80 bushels per acre. Most people are happy to have medical advancement but think it is bad to use advancements in crop science . It takes 5 years or more to repair organic land after they go broke.

7. I love watching Quick Dick McDick. If all the ignorant city people who think life in the country is unicorns and fairy dust while the wildlife gambol happily in the parkland watched maybe our politicians would stop making farmers’ lives so stupidly difficult.
