  1. And right on schedule Trudeau and his idiot Liberals want to limit the amount of fertilizer farmers can buy.

“Mazier said his research showed the government is looking at limiting how much fertilizer producers can buy.

“It’s an actual thing, which is very, very concerning,” he said.

Limiting food production, particularly considering the war in Ukraine, is not something Canada should contemplate, he said.

“First of all, the target is kind of alarming and you’re going to limit the amount of food producers can grow,” said Mazier. “Fertilizer has basically changed the way we produce food in the world. We should be looking at ways that we can grow our production and putting a limit on farmers I don’t think is a very good way of looking at things.”

        1. Mum, who was a prairie girl, always said that the tastiest ducks were those who spend a day or two in the barley fields before being shot. Her father and brothers knew where to hunt.

    1. Any excess fertilizer we have will be sent to China for free. Then we’ll buy it back from them for triple its market value, after the Chinese cut it with some kind of industrial byproduct that kills plants. Then trudeau will apologize to them if any Canadian producers complain, after which he’ll call an early election and eastern Canada will reward him with a majority government for preventing China from putting sanctions on eastern Canadian exports.

Check back in two years to see how much of that comes to pass.

    2. ‘Cause reducing fertilizer is working so well for Sri Lanka. ’Specially for MPs and the Prime Minister there.

  2. And the climate cycle of mass drought in the mid west that hit in 1864, and 1930 is followed by drought in 2022. And climate gurus did not notice the pattern and yet they want to tell me what will happen in 100 years. I will retire to Bedlam

    1. We have highly sophisticated modeling software now that’s never been right. Trust the science bro.

  3. You don’t need to buy fertilizer. There is a vast supply of deplorables.
Plow them into the land and the crops will grow just fine (and less food will be needed anyway).

    1. I hated that movie the first time I saw it. Still painful to watch, but surprisingly accurate.

  4. Given that the only thing the Spawn-Fuhrer is qualified to speak about is snowboarding, the only thing of any use that comes from his mouth is CO2 which is one type of fertilizer that he wants eliminated. Someone should help him eliminate that particular source of unwanted fertilizer.

  5. Good. A bunch of folks deserve to starve. Too bad it won’t be any of the elites.

  6. L – In order to achieve Diversity, Inclusiveness and Equity(D.I.E.). Be it resolved, Liberal politicians food budget be reduced by 30 percent, mandatory as of tomorrow. So as to align with their nature worship of Gaia guidelines, for the use of fertilizer by farmers.

*(Parliamentary and Legislative dining rooms meals are to be included in their budget)

  7. Not to rain on the parade but ” the entire west was under some sort of drought conditions.” is a bit misleading. The West Coast has been under almost constant cold and rain since Feb. at least. Just as bad if not worse for food production.

      1. On the plus side the smart people think we all need to eat more bugs and less beef. Manitoba mosquitoes should be plentiful this year. Might I suggest creamy cucumber sauce

  8. Silly person!! This is before NOAA/GISS adjust the data!
Next year that April will be one of the hottest!!

  9. La Niña folks. Double may be triple.

“Since La Niña typically results in a drier-than-average winter in drought-afflicted Southern California, this isn’t exactly welcome news.”

    (paywalled)

La Niña is back for an encore — but few Californians are likely to applaud this chilly diva.

Since La Niña typically results in a drier-than-average winter in drought-afflicted Southern California, this isn’t exactly welcome news. The condition, which influences weather across the United States, has been developing since summer and has already played a part in an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season this year

  10. The future for us, as mandated by our superiors, are vertical gardens.

They don’t require natural light; artificial light will do. Same with fertilizer; they can be grown aeroponically, with soil or sand (may need added nutrients.). No tractors, combine harvesters, or choppers; just automation.

The rabbit whole goes much deeper but this is one of the primary reason why fertilizer is sparse; control.
